As the morning light filtered through the curtains, Elena opened her eyes and realized that Kai was holding her in a spooning position. Wanting to turn, she felt his arms tighten around her, and he huskily told her, “Don’t move, just stay like that.”
She remained still for a few more moments, but curiosity made her shift again. Kai groaned in response. Concerned, she turned facing him, while she asked if he was okay, but his laugh was ironic.
"I'll survive, little rabbit. Just a minor inconvenience. I told you not to move.”
Elena, not convinced, touched his forehead, and frowned her eyebrows, "But you're burning up! We should do something about it."
Kai's smile softened at her concern, his fingers gently brushing her cheek.
“Don’t worry about my … burning, it will pass.”
