Kane Augustus's POV
"Dallas?!" I yelled towards the stairs. "Just hold on Kane! I'm coming!" My sister yelled back. She was getting "dolled up" as she called it, for a date.
I, being the older and only brother, had to drop her off at the restaurant. It really irked me that her date couldn't pick her up. She got lucky the bar I was going to was down the street.
"Dallas, you have five minutes or I'm leaving without you!" I hollered with a smirk on my face. I wouldn't leave her behind. She's my baby sister. The only family I had left.
Just as I expected, Dallas came down the stairs in a frantic frenzy. "Don't you dare leave me!" She yelled, thrashing her arms around. "I'm a gi..." She didn't even finish her sentence because she tripped and started to fall.
I ran up to the stairs as quickly as I could and caught her. "Damn Dallas. Slow down. You know damn well I wouldn't leave without you," I told her with a smirk.
"You ass! Put me down," she said and I did as told. I let her fall to the ground with a soft thud. "Ouch!" She hissed before standing up and rubbing her butt. "That hurt. You're so lucky we need to get going," she said and took off walking out of the house.
"I love you too!" I yelled loudly before following her to my locked car. I chuckled when I took in her angry appearance. She stood, leaning on the car, with her arms crossed.
"Seriously?!" She snapped. "You could have unlocked the door!" She yelled. I laughed and unlocked the car, while walking around to the drivers side.
We climbed into the car and I started it up. "Am I picking you up afterwards?" I asked her while backing out of the driveway.
"I'm not sure yet. He didn't say," she said with heated cheeks. I scoffed and she slapped my arm. "Stop!" She said in embarrassment. "I'm sorry you're stuck doing this. I'll be seventeen soon, so I'll get my license," she said quietly.
"Dallas, I'm not annoyed with you. I'm annoyed with your so called date. He couldn't bother to pick you up. He didn't even offer," I told her.
"He's not worthy of your time," I then told her with a soft smile. "I'll always be here for you. Always. So if you need me, you call." I squeezed her hand and kissed it gently.
"You'll always be my number one girl," I said, causing her to giggle. "Thanks Kane. I love you," she told me and I smiled. "I love you too baby sis," I said and put the car in drive.
Dallas flipped through the radio stations and stopped on her favorite song Meant To Be by Bebe Rexha ft. Florida Georgia Line.
"I don't mean to be so uptight, but my heart's been hurt a couple times
By a couple guys that didn't treat me right
I ain't gon' lie, ain't gonna lie
'Cause I'm tired of the fake love, show me what you're made of
Boy, make me believe," she sang beautifully and smiled at me knowing it was my turn.
"But hold up, girl, don't you know you're beautiful?
And it's easy to see," I sang, smiling along with her.
"You know," she said smiling. "You're the best big brother ever!" She stated excitedly. "I know, but if you ever tell anyone I sing with you I'll just deny it," I told her smiling.
"I already know," she told me and laughed softly. "So where's the place I'm dropping you off at?" I asked her when I realized we were getting close.
"Sin Yapok Café," she said and I scrunched my brows. "That just sounds like a weird ass place to eat," I said, causing her to punch my arm. "Shut up!" She scolded and pointed to a building on the right side of the road ahead.
"Right there," she said in nervousness. I laughed at her scared expression then rolled my eyes. "Want me to get down to intimidate him?" I asked her.
"Oh my god! Yes!" She said in a squeaky voice. "Damn girl. Calm yourself," I told her jokingly. "Park right here," she said quickly when she spotted an open parking space.
I pulled into the space and parked the car before turning it off. "You ready?" I asked her. "No. Wait yes," she said then unlocked the door to get out. I shook my head laughing then followed suit.
"He didn't even wait outside for you?" I asked Dallas with an annoyed look. "I guess not!" She said in defeat. "This is going to be a horrible date," she mumbled and I laughed.
"I'll be down the road at the bar if you need me. Don't forget that," I told her, pulling her into one last hug. I opened the restaurant door and Dallas walked in with me following behind her.
A tall muscular kid walked up to us and glared at me. "Dallas," he said coldly. "Who the f**k is this?" He asked harshly. I rolled my eyes and laughed. "I'm her f*****g older brother asshole," I told him, causing him to gulp in fear.
"I'm sorry dude," he said and I laughed again. "I'm out Dallas. Remember that if your date here doesn't bring you home call me," I told her one last time then I left to head to the bar.
I walked inside and sat at the bar, waiting for the bartender to approach me. To my luck, or not so much luck, a busty red head walked up to me with a smile on her face.
"What can I get you?" She asked, well more like purred and not in a sexy way. I cringed at her voice and suppressed a groan. "Whiskey," I spoke loudly. "Neat?" She asked. I nodded my head. She then walked off to fix my drink when noticed I wasn't paying her any attention.
