The next five days had gone by excruciatingly slow. There was only two days left before the Christmas Ball; as the days grew closer, I grew more nervous. Mom had called me last night, demanding that I be at the house by three o’clock to get ready. A friend of hers was coming over that day to help Hazel and I with our make-up and hair. I kept to my thoughts, as I dusted the shelves. Kane was, as always, on his phone. I didn’t mind this time around because it meant he wouldn’t be pestering me when I had a lot to think about.
