Chapter 1
SINGLE DAD The Billoniare's Daughter BY EDOKPAYI .E. SCHOLASTIC CHAPTER 1 7 YEARS AGO "You can't do this Miranda! Your daughter needs you! Our daughter needs you! You can't just walk out of our nine years marriage. We've been together for such a long time and you can't just walk out now!" George screamed at his wife as she continued to fold her clothes inside her luggage. "Look George, I've made up my mind. I'm done with this marriage okay? Nothing's gonna change my mind not even you blackmailing me with our daughter. I never loved her anyways, I didn't want a child but you insisted we had one. So, you should be able to take care of her." Miranda hissed with a smirk. She removed more of her clothes from her wardrobe and continued placing them in her luggage. "Come on Mira! We can sort this out!" George tried to pacify his wife. "I'm sorry George, I've made up my mind and you're definitely not changing it." She said with a cunning smile. "You know this is not fair Miranda, you're the main cause why our daughter is going through her illness. And yet, you wanna abandon her?" Miranda only rolled her eyes and hissed. "I don't care. I needed to be in wealth that was the reason I married you. I couldn't have allowed such opportunity to slip through my fingers." She sighed. "Is it about Frank Eduardo? My rival? Is it because he suddenly became the top richest billoniare and I, the third?" He suddenly asked, his eyebrows perked as he stared demandingly at her. She had no regret whatsoever and she wasn't looking like she was gonna deny the accusation. "What else could it be George? You can't possibly afford all my needs anymore." She smirked. "Frank can." She added. "But you know this isn't my fault. I was doing great until I signed that fake endorsement that made me loose millions of dollars. I promise Mira, I'll bounce back and everything's gonna be fine and go back as it was." George pleaded desperately. "Bye George...you'll get the divorce papers soon and don't worry about Mirabelle, you can have her in your custody, I don't care." She smirked. She zipped her luggage and flipped her wavy hair backwards elegantly. Without turning back to look at her husband, she wheeled her luggage out of her matrimony room. Just as she stepped out, she saw Mirabelle staring up at her with her big glossy eyeballs. "Mom? Are you really leaving dad and I?" Her tiny voice was hoarse as unshed tears ran down her cheeks. Miranda only hissed and walked away. "Mom please don't leave! I love you!" Mirabelle's tiny voice trailed after her mother. "I hate you!" Her mother yelled at her. Mirabelle hugged her father who was standing beside her already and bursted into tears. George carried his seven year old daughter and made her head rest on his shoulder as she wept bitterly. "Stop crying princess, dad's here. I promise, I'll never ever leave you. I'll always be here for you." He patted his daughter's hair. She sniffled her tears and wiped her tears. "I love you dad." She said emotionally and kissed his cheek. "I love you too princess." He smiled and kissed her cheeks too. . . 7 YEARS LATER ( PRESENT ) "Good morning dad." Mirabelle smiled as she climbed down from the staircase leading to the sitting room. "Good morning princess. I take it that your night was pleasant, your countenance says it all." George smiled back at his daughter. "Yeah dad, I had a pleasant night rest." She replied and finally climbed down the last staircase. When she got to where her father stood, he kissed her cheeks and ruffled her hair playfully. "Dad!" She whined with a pout. "I told you to stop ruffling my hair. I'm a big girl now." She pouted cutely at her dad. "I'll try princess." He chuckled and ruffled her hair again. He ran to the dinner room before Mirabelle could say another word. "Dad! That's not fair." She laughed as she trailed after her dad. ........ "What's for breakfast dad?" Mirabelle asked as she rubbed her palms together in an anticipating manner. "Scrambled eggs and bread and chocolate tea, just the way you like it." He smiled at her as he uncovered the plates. "Yay! Thanks dad." She smiled happily at her dad. "So dad, where are you gonna take me to today? It's Saturday you know, that means no work, no school and more fun." She smiled as she sipped her hot tea. "We're going to the shopping mall and game center." Her dad smiled. "Yay! Thank you dad." She squealed enthusiastically. "You're welcome princess, anything for you." He patted her hair. .......... After breakfast, Mirabelle went back to her room to bath and get dressed for the day. She pulled off her nightie and walked into her adjoining door in her room which was her bathroom. Her bathroom was wide and looked like a room on its own. It was exquisite and everything in it was expensive. Her bathroom was literally glittery. She turned on her shower and got under it and let the water cascade down her naked self. After bathing, she toweled her body and applied her body lotion. She went to her closet and started ransacking through for what to wear. She finally settled for a blue striped jumpsuit. She took a black stilleto from her shoe rack and wore it. She sat on her dressing room and stared at her pretty and spotless face in the vanity mirror. She removed the shower cap from her hair and flipped her hair backwards. She applied her hair lotion on her hair which made it look really glossy and shiny. She let her hair fall down her shoulders. She used one of her beautiful hair clips to clip the side of her hair making it look really beautiful. She applied a pink lipgloss and smacked her lips together. "I'm really very pretty." She smiled at herself in the mirror. Even without makeup, she still looked really beautiful. ........ "Princess, I'm really sorry. We won't be able to go out today. I just got a call in the office and I'm needed there." George apologized sincerely to his daughter as he made his way to his car. "But dad! It's Saturday." She whined. "Look princess, I'll make it up to you tomorrow." George smiled at her. "Okay dad." She looked unhappy. "Bye princess. Make sure you stay indoors okay? You can play the PS5 or surf the internet." Her dad suggested. "Uhm dad, why don't you just drop me off at Jessica's house. I'll be fine there." Mirabelle said with a smile. "Sure. Get into the car let's go." He said. . "Alright princess, you can have my credit card in case you need to get anything." George smiled at his daughter as he stopped at the gate of Jessica's mansion. "Thank you dad." Mirabelle took the card and kissed his cheeks. She alighted from the car and waved her father goodbye as be drove off. ............. "Hey Janelle." Jessica squealed enthusiastically and ran to hug Mirabelle. "Hi Jes." Mirabelle smiled and reciprocated the hug. Jessica Edwin is Mirabelle's best friend since childhood. They attended the same kindergarten, middle school and they attended the same high school. Jessica's father is a very close friend to Mirabelle's father. They're good friends. "I decided to drop by today since my dad has work to attend to." Mirabelle shrugged. "That's great. Come on, let's go to my room, I have something to show you." Jessica giggled happily. "Sure. What about your parents?" Mirabelle asked. "They went to an auction. They'll be back later in the evening." Jessica shrugged. ............ "Janelle, what would you like to have? Cookies?" Jessica asked with a sigh as they both ended their PS5 game with Mirabelle winning. Jessica prefer calling Mirabelle's other name because it starts with a J just like hers and at school, they are called the perfect J because to most of the students, the two friends are perfect; they are both pretty, intelligent, from wealthy family and they have everything any normal teenage girl would like to have. They're the envy of all at school. "I'd love that Jes." Mirabelle smiled. ................ "It was great having you around Janelle, I had so much fun." Jessica smiled as Mirabelle was about leaving as her dad was already around to take her home. "Me too Jessica. I had fun too." Mirabelle smiled and hugged her best friend. "See you in school on Monday." Jessica waved as Mirabelle slide inside her father's Bugatti Veyron. Mirabelle waved back at her. ............ Mirabelle had dinner with her father and they both talked at length about how their day went. George's was stressful while Mirabelle had fun. George asked his daughter why she didn't use his credit card, she told him that she didn't need it as she was having fun with Jessica. As George and his daughter climbed up the stairs to their various room, Mirabelle suddenly held her head and winced. "Princess, are you alright?" George panicked as he saw the way Mirabelle felt uneasy. She had suddenly gone pale. "I don't think so dad, I don't feel too goo..." She couldn't complete her statement before she passed out but her father was quick to hold her before she fell. "Oh no! She was fine earlier today!" George lamented as he carried his unconscious daughter in a bridal style and made for the door. TBC. *
