Chapter 8

The next morning, the king interrupted the couple's rest to inform Matthew what had happened to his mate.

"She blacked out because of extreme pain" he walks in front of Matthew "don't you know what could have happened to your pup because of what you did !?" There was reproach in his voice.

The couple and his parents were inside his office. Matthew was sitting on his chair while his father preached. Feeling guilty, he brushed his hand over his face. It is only now that he seems to have realized the gravity of what he did. He looked at his father. "How is she?" he couldn’t help to worry.

Matthew's mother answered his question "she's still unconscious, son" she sighed. She understands what her son is going through, but the truth still remains that his true mate and their unborn pup were put in danger because of his s*xual interaction with his wife.

His father leaned angrily slamming his hand on his table "you better to fixed this!" He said pointing at him "and I assume you know what you should do" he raised an eyebrow at him

"Father, are you suggesting I leave my wife? Abandon Phoebe !?" He stood up from his seat. He looked at his wife who was only listening to their exchange of words.

Legion is angry with Matthew "this is your fault!" he is fuming inside. "if something bad happens to our pup, I will kill your wife!" he threatened.

Matthew yelled back at his wolf "don't ever threatened her!" Legion didn't answer, he ignored him. Matthew sighed and with a faint look "I'll just see her condition" he said to his wife, and Phoebe didn't hesitate and immediately nodded at him

After Matthew left the room, the former queen approached Phoebe "Phoebe, my dear" she sat down next to Phoebe and held her hands "I know it hurts you to see him went and care for Laura, and I admire you for not making any cruel action against her. You are a very strong woman" she patted Phoebe's hand "but I want you to understand more of the situation. " She paused and looked at her mate, the former king, who nodded to her to continue "my son has found his true mate and is now pregnant with their pup." She thinks of a nice word to say "could you stay away from them for the time being, until she safely gives birth to the heir? Please?" she pleaded

Phoebe's mouth dropped open. They are telling her to stay away from her husband. No! Phoebe removed her hands "I'm sorry." She apologizes while looking down "but, I'm not giving Matthew up" she raised her head and looked at the former king

King Dominic was fuming with anger at its refusal to stay away from their son "you!" He took a strode and loomed over her "what else would be your purpose here!? you're nothing but a bedwarmer for him now!" he’s insulting

Phoebe shrinks at what is being said to her but she promised herself that she will not give up nor will she stay away from Matthew unless he explicitly told her himself. "I'm Matthew's wife now," it stood up from sitting. "And no one can get me out of here but him." She bowed to the two afterward then walked out of the room. The two couldn’t believe what they’ve heard.

By nightfall, when Phoebe was asleep and alone in their quarters, she felt something. It’s like something heavy was pressed on her. Its thighs were on either side of her body. And there was something hot wrapped around her neck until she was slowly running out of air.

It was then that Phoebe's eyes opened and her eyes grew wide when she realized who was on top of her and is choking her "M-Matthew !?" She grabbed his hand that's still squeezing her neck "w-what are y-you d-doing!? S-stop!"

But this man's eyes are red. It's not Matthew but Legion! "because of you, we almost lost our pup" he tightened the stranglehold on Phoebe's neck even more "I have warned you to leave! You are no longer needed here! We have our mate now, our True Mate! Now, you are nothing!"

Phoebe's eyes rolled back as tears fall on her cheek. Matthew seems to come to his senses. "Phoebe!" he quickly moved away from his wife and Phoebe immediately gasped for air while coughing "w-what have I done !?" Matthew can't believe what happened and is scolding his wolf "how could you!? Are you trying to kill our wife!" Legion angrily replied "she is not my wife! She's just a bed warmer, a w***e!" he insulted her. "Enough!" Matthew cut him off and put a wall between them. Matthew caressed her back "I'm sorry, I don't know why he did that"

Phoebe wasn't angry, she even smiled at her husband "it's okay, I understand, it was Legion who wishes for me to leave" her hand was on her neck, smoothing the place that was gripped by his wolf. "He wants to be with his mate." she smiled sadly and looked into Matthew's eyes.

Matthew is confused, he doesn't know what to do. And he couldn't choose between them.

At Laura's Quarter

Laura was fuming in anger. Last night she was hit by unbearable pain until she lost consciousness. And it nearly caused her to lose her pup. Matthew visits her to find out her condition. She was angry at him and ignored him. He is her mate; how could he do that to her knowing she is carrying their pup.

Earlier

Matthew was sitting on the side of the bed "Laura" he held her mate's hand but Laura didn't look at him, instead, she withdrew her hand from his grasp. "I'm sorry" he apologizes.

Laura's ear throbbed with what she heard "sorry? You're sorry ?!" she angrily turned to the man "do you know what you’ve done? To me? To our unborn pup !?" she put her hand on her stomach "I nearly lost him, Matthew! Because of what you did!? Because of that woman!" She screamed in anger. She turned away so as not to see his mate's face "leave me alone!"

Matthew felt remorseful for his mate's condition, he regretted what he had done. "Laura" he put his hand on her arm "I don't want to hurt you, or even our pup."

"You don't want to hurt us, but you still f*ck her. You know the effect of what you did to us" she scolded him. "I know I said it before that it's okay for the two of us in your life because I thought I could." Tears welled up in her eyes "But I was wrong. I can't. I want what's rightfully mine! If you still can't choose between the two of us, then stay away from me.”

Present.

Laura was leaning against the headboard of the bed, a few minutes later Matthew left his room. "I need to do something," she said to herself. "We need to find a way to kick her out of the palace" her wolf, Lilian, brought the thought. "How are we gonna do that?" she asked back. Her wolf has a sadistic grin

The next morning

Phoebe sluggishly went down to the dining room. She no longer expected that her husband will join her for breakfast or any other from that moment on. She sat down and a servant comes up to prepare her breakfast.

She was about to start eating when the door opened and Laura entered. She looked at her. Pregnancy becomes her. She looks more radiant. And she felt more envious. To carry inside her the fruit and proof of love that two mates share.

Laura sits across her. Phoebe can't eat now. Feeling guilty, Phoebe apologies to Laura. "Ahm, I'm sorry" she doesn't know if she will accept her apology. Her eyes are on her lap as she cannot look at her directly. She knew she would never forgive her. Although she's Matthew's wife, what she did, knowing Laura was already pregnant, she still indulges herself in having s*xual i*********e with him.

"It's okay" Laura's answer was soft but there is no malice in it. She stood up and walked to her side and offer her hand.

Phoebe was surprised by what Laura showed, she looked at her hand. Laura held out her hand to Phoebe. A small smile appeared on her face because Laura didn't seem angry with her. Phoebe also stood up and accepted her hand.

After their handshake, Laura stepped backward and lost balance. She was very close to the other seat. "Lady Laura!" She held her arm so that she would not fall to the floor. "Are you okay?" She asked worriedly

Laura's eyes were clouded for a while as she shakes her head "it's okay, I’m fine" she then removed the hand holding her arm "you didn't mean to push me" she said in a louder voice.

Phoebe was surprised by what Laura said, "pushed? What are you talking about?" Phoebe was about to touch Laura again when the door opened and Matthew come in.

From the door, anyone would assume that from their position that Phoebe seemed to have pushed Laura. Matthew glared at his wife. "What's going on here? What did you do to Laura!" Matthew passed her and helped Laura sit up.

Laura grabbed Matthew's cheek and faced him "hey, hey," she was trying to calm him down "I'm okay. The queen didn't mean to push me" she looked at Phoebe with a smile "she really helped me"

Phoebe was dumbfounded staring at the two. In her mind, her husband did not even ask her for an explanation and only focused his attention on Laura.

Matthew applied his hand to Laura's belly, "how's our pup? Is he okay?" his face was full of worry.

Laura put her hand over his on her belly "he's okay now because you are here" she smiled sweetly at her mate. Matthew smiled back and kissed her forehead.

Phoebe couldn't stand it anymore and left the two. When she came out of the dining room, the tears that she had been holding back finally falls.

Two days later

Phoebe was walking downstairs when Laura called out to her. "Your Majesty, are you doing anything?" This question puzzled Phoebe. It feels like Matthew's mate is planning something.

"Nothing" she shrugged and continued walking.

Laura accompanied her on her walk and even cling on her arm "I'm going to walk to the garden, join me!" Laura pulls Phoebe.

The two are taking a walk in the garden. While they were looking at the beautiful flowers, Phoebe saw a knife and took it. "Why is there a knife here?" This question comes to her mind. She thought that a sharp object like this is dangerous if left lying there. Upon inspecting the knife, he noticed there was blood on its blade. She frowned.

Laura suddenly shouted and asked for help while sitting on the ground "ahhh! Help!" She screamed. She was holding her arm that has blood dripping on it.

Phoebe was stunned. "What happened?" She asked and walked towards her to help.

But Laura raised her arms to shield herself "s-stay away from m-me!" Tears already dripping from her eyes. "Matthew!" She screamed her mate's name.

Matthew arrived "Laura! What happened !?" He quickly approached his mate. He was fuming when he saw her bleeding arms.

Laura pointed to Phoebe. "The queen, she suddenly waved that thing towards me!" She continued to cry.

Matthew turned to his wife and saw Phoebe's hand. Matthew growled "Phoebe! How could you !?" He couldn’t believe that his wife will hurt Laura

Phoebe denies Laura's accusations. "No! That's not true!" she defended herself.

"Then how can you explain that knife you're holding?" Matthew didn't believe her and questioned her instead

Phoebe shakes her head and throws the knife away "Matthew believe me.” She stepped toward her husband "I don't know why Lady Laura had a cut on her arm, but I didn't do it " she said shaking her head

Laura held Matthew's arm "we are walking here in the garden. I gathered my courage and told her that I love you so much. And asked her to give you back to me because I am your true mate and we will have our pup" she looked at her mate in the eyes with her face full of tears. "But she didn't agree. And it doesn't matter if we're going to have a pup. She says, she's the Queen and no one can oust her from the throne" with trembling arms, she clings to her mate.

"That's not true!" Phoebe yelled "you're lying" she pointed at her then turned to her husband "believe me, Matthew, I didn't say and did what she said"

"You see!" Legion is also angry "she was trying to kill our mate and our pup!? You will just let her do that!? This is the second time that we saw that she did harm her! Are you going to make that happen for the third time!?"

"No!" Matthew's answer was strong. He stood up and walked to Phoebe "I can't believe you can do this to me. You know Laura is my true mate, and she's the only one who can give me an heir now. Something you can never give, yet you try to harm them" his raging "I guess it's time to end this bond now" he bitterly said

Phoebe and Laura were surprised by what Matthew said. Laura is happy while Phoebe is hurt.

He unbuttoned his shirt, showing his bare chest. Then picked up the knife on the ground. "I, King Matthew Bluemoon, hereby repealed my bond to Phoebe McKnight!" With his eye glowing, the power in his voice, he cut his palm, he also cut his chest while saying "I ask the Moongoddess to allow this!"

Phoebe was shaking her head "no!" Tears are flowing on her cheeks "ahhh!" the mark on her neck now burns. Phoebe collapsed on the ground "Matthew please believe me!" she’s begging "ahhh!" she screamed again. The burns erased her mark and it disappeared.

Their blood bond was broken.
