2. Not Letting You Go

2893 Words
Luna's POV The conflict has stopped, and thanks to the intervention of our pack's warrior werewolves, the enemy has been subdued and chased back whence they came from. All of our pack's slaves have been gathered in the largest main hall of the slave territory, where we are being cared for by the Blood Moon Howlers Pack's health facility officers. Many of us are fine, and no harm has been done to us other than the unusual colors of dark smoke and dust that surround our bodies as a result of the chaos that raged outside just a few moments ago. While the majority of us have been severely hurt, health professionals are doing everything they can to prevent the injuries from escalating into significant lifetime casualties. We are all trembling and attempting to recuperate from the unexpected fight we have just been through, surrounded by several other Blood Moon Howler pack protectors who are arguing harshly about the climactic battle they have just fought. As for me, it was not until after the raging battle had subsided that I realized I had a few deep scratches on my arm that were bleeding profusely, and the hospital attendant was now kneeling beside me, adding iodine and methylated spirits to relieve the pain and prevent infection. I wince with each touch, and the lovely lady with the beautiful smile grins. "Sorry. My bad. I shall take things slowly." "This is the most agonizing surprise battle I have ever encountered. "Those wolves certainly caught us off guard." "Yep, precisely. "Where do you believe they would have come from?" "I honestly do not know, but it appeared that their strategy was well-organized." I sneer inwardly. Organized, my foot. They are rogues, damn it. I am relaxed back as a medical attendant tends to my hand while I listen to the two bodyguards standing before us conversing with themselves. "The fact that they had to wait for the proper time when we were in our relaxed stance before the attack indicates that this could be a pack that is hostile to us." "Yes, I completely agree with you; honestly, this is much beyond my imagination. "The slaves were even affected," one of them says, turning his head to look at us before meeting my eyes. "Wow, is not she stunning?" He says this while gesturing at me, and his partner follows his stare, making me blink in confusion. His partner laughs and winks at me. "Oh, I completely agree with you on this. She is gorgeous. "Where do you think they would have obtained her?" It is funny how the conversation abruptly moved from the conflict to me. *Sigh, men. " Alpha Kael is present. Salute!!" Another bodyguard standing at the entrance to the enormous slave cabin suddenly exclaims, and we all watch as every single bodyguard standing in each area immediately assumes their attention position and salutes. There we go. He is here. I think to myself while rolling my eyes. I look up to see the domineering-looking Alpha, Kael, come in with a calm but imposing demeanor, his hands in his pockets. His white smooth, buttoned shirt is somewhat rumpled, and I can tell that the current crisis has put him on edge. Perhaps he was on his way to work when he realized that the Blood Moon Howlers Pack's slave region had been invaded by only God knows who. However, I did not see him wearing this clothing when he freed me at the slave fields. I think to myself as I stifle in my position, feeling a great deal of loathing, which is nothing new for me. Goddess knows I have disliked and despised this man since I first stepped into this pack, which I know is not my origin. He adjusts his white button shirt and scrutinizes all the slaves in the hall with his oppressive but beautiful, amazing gaze till his sparkling golden eyes finally rest on mine, and I feel a strong surge of electricity travel through my body. "So, Kael, what are your thoughts on this?" Someone is speaking catches my attention, and I quickly look away from him to see the other lovely, stunning, magnificent fellow standing alongside him. His beta, Lucian. Every gorgeous damsel in Blood Moon Howler Park has always admired him and would go to any length to meet him. It is understandable. He is a player, after all. A bloody player by nature. Not that it bothers me. It is not like any of these royals would gaze in my direction. I am a slave, after all, and that has not been my major concern since I arrived here. I am here to tell you that my major goal and want is that the Goddess grant me a very close chance to stab this godforsaken alpha in the chest and exact my retribution for what he did to my family. I return my focus to Kael, staring at him with a keen intensity, intending to let him know how outraged and enraged I am at his presence. He is also staring back at me with an intensity that indicates he is attempting to assert his power over me, but I am not backing down. I am going to show him how obstinate a slave I can be. I think to myself. I keep looking back at him, frowning and twisting my forehead in wrath, and he squints his eyes, intensely examining me, completely unaware of what Lucian is trying to communicate. Why does it suddenly feel so hot? I am straining to catch my breath. An odd expression flickers in his eyes, and I am still trying to figure out what it is when Lucian taps him on the shoulder, forcing him to turn away from me. "Um, bro, are you okay? "Looks like you have been lost in the clouds for a few seconds," Lucian adds, darting his gaze from Kael to me and back again. Kael waves him off and shrugs. "Sorry, forget what you were saying?" He enquires, and Lucian chuckles. "I was only wondering what you thought about the whole issue because you can not tell me you do not believe this was a planned attack." Kael chuckles. "Yes, that is the renegade werewolves," he says, walking by Lucian as if he has something else to do. Lucian appears stunned as he looks up at the ceiling before quickly turning around to face Kael. "I apologize; how did you know that?" Alpha Kael comes to a halt in the hall, inspecting a few more slaves in front of him while hospital personnel check to see if their wounds have worsened. He let out a laugh. "Tell me, Lucian, how else do you believe it should be? I mean, if it had been one of our adversary packs, they might have marched into our pack's main area and headed for the royal tower. But instead, they opted to assault the slaves first. What type of pack do you believe would attempt such a feat?" Alpha Kael says, and Lucian appears to be thinking about something. "Exactly, now that you mention it, that sounds like a pretty dumb, desperate scheme. Perhaps they were a rogue pack that was particularly hungry and wanted some beings to feed on." I gulp. It was almost their feast!! Alpha Kael nods his head quickly. "Yes, I completely agree with you because around three of them were going to feast on the slave, and she would have been maimed if I had not intervened." He says, pointing at me, and Lucian turns his head to face me. I shock and flush slightly when the heads of this pack focus their attention on me, and I can feel my nerves shaking continuously. Lucian raises an eyebrow and looks at me carefully. "Oh gosh, I honestly believed she had not had any unpleasant experiences; hers must have been the most terrible," he says with sadness in his eyes before turning to face Kael, who is still staring at me intently. His eyes send shivers down my spine. He seemed adamant not to move his stare away from me, which made me question why he was suddenly staring at me as if he wanted to eat me whole. Is he acting as if he has never seen me before or does not recognize me? I increase my resolve and continue to look him directly in the eyes, increasing my resolve and intensity. I am not even blinking for once. Then I see him chuckle, and the left side of his lips wrinkle up in a smirk. That looked so mischievous. "Why don't we try something, Lucian?" He requests, pushing Lucian to look at him while keeping his gaze fixed on me as if he will lose sight of me if he looks away. Lucian glances at him expectantly. "What is it, Alpha?" "What are your thoughts on developing a strategy to ensure that slaves are no longer put at risk?" He says, shifting his focus back to Lucian. "Something like a safe tower or a safe strategy to ensure that they are squarely within our grasp, and if this type of attack occurs again, the rogues will have to deal with us first before meeting the slaves." Lucian has a puzzled expression on his face as he examines Kael as if he is trying to figure out what his main objective is with this suggestion. That is strange. "So, what are you insinuating?" Kael chuckles, then moves forward and marches past Lucian with a leisurely, regal, oppressive, controlling step until he comes to a halt in front of me, smiling down at me with his hands in his pockets. I am trembling uncontrollably as I try and strive to keep my determination, staring at him with all of my strength, energy, and power. I continue to look deeply into his eyes, refusing to back down. Kael appears intrigued, as evidenced by the expression on his face, which indicates that he is stunned. I am not sure what he is astonished about; perhaps it is because of how bold I am presenting myself to him right now. My mind is telling me this because I have noticed that no slave in this zone has ever dared to look him in the eyes with such intensity, never backing down. Perhaps that is why he brought up this weird suggestion, which Lucian seemed perplexed about right now. Am I screwed? What could be his primary purpose for bringing it up? I am still thinking to myself as I stare at him, wondering why I can not even look away. I have never felt so bold and determined in my life. I scrunch my face up at him, revealing how angry I am at his presence. Kael chuckles and shakes his head, then turns to face Lucian. He gives a strong, unexpected order. "I want you to gather all members of the Royals and bring them into this hut right now. Each of us will choose a different slave to live in our palaces and attend to any specific needs we require. The slaves are no longer permitted to remain in the slave territory. They have toiled long enough to produce food that will last us centuries. They will now serve us in our palaces, and most likely in our beds." Kael adds, winking and smirking, and I notice Lucian's eyes light up with understanding. Yes, this is what occurs when you have a friend who is a player like you. He is pointing at Alpha Kael. "well, well, now I understand where you are going," he adds with a knowing smile. "You are a cunning bastard," he adds sarcastically, and I notice Alpha Kael laughing as he throws his head backward, which, for some unknown reason, I find intriguing. I had no idea how his laughter had caused my lips to slightly expand. However, I shake my head to return my attention to the present. Luna, you should not laugh while he is laughing. He is your enemy. He is the one for whom you should consider how to end his life when the opportunity arises. I keep trying to remember myself. Alpha Kael laughs, then turns his attention back to me. "So, with all that stated, I am going to pick my slave first," he proclaims, then bends down and grabs my hand, pulling me up to a standing posture. Uh, What is going on? "She is mine, and I am taking her with me right now," he proclaims before leading me to the entrance of the enormous hut, and I find myself staring at him, shocked. Um, what the hell is going on here? I struggle and try everything I can before finally breaking contact with him, and he immediately stops, turning around to stare at me with a deep surprise on his lovely face. "I am not going with you," I tell him sharply, and he seems startled. I hear Lucian snicker and laugh behind me as if he is straining to hold back the explosion of laughter in his lungs. "That is one tenacious little slave, is not she?" He speaks. Kael recovers from the shock. He chuckles, then walks closer to me. "Sure, she is. And this makes me want to keep her even more." He says this before coming to a stop just in front of me and pressing his palm against my face. When his fingertips brush across my cheeks, I feel a quick wave of incomprehensible sensation run through my veins, causing my eyelids to flicker and moving my head rapidly away from his hand, leaving him stunned. Lucian breaks out laughing. "Oh wow, alpha, it appears you have your hands full there." He says, and Alpha Kael nods calmly. "Yeah, I have my hands full." He smiles and looks down at me with a deep intensity. My heart is beating and hammering constantly in my chest. "That is the primary reason why I will not let you go. So, unless you want to face the most dreadful punishment, you will obey your alpha and accompany me to my mansion right now," he continues, his eyes suddenly glittering with an outer-worldly red intensity. His speech suddenly grows so horrifying and gory that I start to shiver in front of him and my legs start to shake. As everyone looks at me, I can hear all of the guards and Lucian laughing right where they are. Alpha Kael smiles. This just makes me want to hit him more. I want to hit him in the chest and knock out his heart. I just... I want to murder him. "With that said, I suppose you can pick up your slave." I am going to take mine and figure out how I can tame her. She is too feisty for her good." He says with a sinister smile that causes me to gulp. He then escorts me away from the slave hut. Goddess knows that I am supposed to be straining to resist him, attempting to break my hand free from Him and possibly biting Him in the skin or inflicting some little bruises just to show Him how angry I am with Him and how much I despise Him. But I just can't. According to the norms and regulations of each pack, once a member of another pack is supernaturally bound with the pack they are staying with, they are also submissive to the alpha of that pack and are never given the duty of rejecting his instructions. Even if they try, their wolf will force them to go against their will and submit to him nonetheless. That is the rule in the werewolf world. Kael knew this. That is why he had to ensure that every slave underwent the magical process before working for this pack. He did not want anyone disrespecting his directives. And now I am imprisoned in a pack from which I know I did not originate. Bound to an alpha, I know my spirit, soul, and body want to rip his throat apart. --- Kyle guides me away from the slave region, and we eventually emerge to see his magnificent, expensive red Lamborghini waiting at the entrance. He opens the passenger door for me. "Get inside." He says, and I gaze at him in confusion. That is bizarre. I shake my head. "I am dressed in rags. I do not want to destroy your good leather." I say and watch as he chuckles before shaking his head. "You astound me, little girl. You still have the guts to defy your Alpha. Someone needs to teach you proper manners. "I am going to do that." I blink, anxiously. My heart feels like it is going to burst out of my chest. "I do not care about that in the least, as long as it gets you to my mansion so I can figure out how to deal with you, you stubborn little slave." He speaks brutally. The ferocity with which he uttered it makes my heart throb, and I can feel my heart racing as fast as a tornado in my chest, causing me to blink my eyelids quickly. What precisely is he planning on doing to me? Am I now hopelessly screwed?
