HER LIFE (PART I)

RAYA POV:

I am late. I can’t believe on such an important day I am running like a rabbit in the hallway only to get to the exam room.

‘’Where are your manners young lady?’’ my mom’s voice ringed in my ears making me laugh inwardly. She never forgets to scold me for acting like this. But I love her so much and I know she does the same.

‘’’ Miss Raya is this the time you enter the exam room?’’ I heard Mrs. ken speak in her scary tone. I am done for sure. I must find a good excuse to save myself.

‘’Only because you secure best in the whole section so I will let you off the hook today as its exam. But no next time.’’ Wow, I can’t believe I just got saved on my own.

‘’Thank you, Mrs. Keven. I shall abide by your warning carefully in the future.’’ I spoke politely and gave a half-bow to her and walked towards my seat where Rossie was already waiting for me. I smiled at her and she smiled back at me.

All the exercises were quite easy in the exam and I am relieved to answer all of them. I wish to become an official one day like my father. But other than very few occupations we women have no place to work at.

‘’Time is over. Set aside your papers and greet by royal etiquette 138 before exiting the place.’’ Mrs. Kevin said and we did as she said. Finally, I am done with this season’s exams.

‘’How was your paper, my lady?’’ Rossie asked walking beside me when we walked out of the exam room.

‘’How many times do I have to tell you not to call me lady. I am your friend or not?’’ I replied angrily at her act maybe for ten thousandth time.

‘’Apologies my dear friend lady. But a lower status can’t call you directly without addressing your proper status. You don’t want your friend to get in trouble only because of your free spirit do you, my lady.’’ And here she gave me the same answer all the time.

‘’Please call me by my name when we are alone,’’ I said whispering so she will agree with this at least.

‘’No. what if I get used to it and call you like that in Infront of everyone. I don’t want to get 10kg to stick punishment only calling you by your name my lady. Please don’t make it hard for this poor maid.’’ She said in a low tone. How much I wish I could help her regarding this.
