Riever POV I’d texted Miya when I got home. I was a bit out of it during the drive back- my adrenaline was pumping at first, but while it died down, I was left with the sinking realization that I had taken a life for the first time. I was struck by the way I didn’t feel much about it. I had thought killing someone would feel… heavier. Yet, I felt remorseless. I hoped it was only because of what a s**t person Alex had been, and not because I was some kind of secret psychopath. By the time we made it back to the packhouse, I had relived the fight so many times, I felt numb. I wanted to shower, but father made me see the pack doctor first. My wounds were closing- albeit slowly. The doctor took her merry time disinfecting everything and gave me some ointment and bandages to apply after my s
