“Ruelle.”
Hael mumbled as he saw Ruelle, the person who was supposed to be his mate! His wife! Who was supposed to be by his side! How can she be with someone else? As someone else’s wife?
He has been looking for her for so long but he never found her and now that he did, he saw her with another man, as another man’s wife.
Hael’s wolf howled inside, and his eyes became red as murderous rage came over him, all he wanted to do was to snatch Ruelle from this man and take her away with him and lock her up by his side.
How dare another man touch her! How dare another man claim her! How dare another man dared to make her his wife when she belonged to him and only him! Four years ago he made a mistake, no he committed a sin and he was paying for it dearly but seeing Ruelle with another man made him feel like his heart was ripped out of his chest.
He started to breathe heavily, Martha looked at him and tried to touch him but he just glared at her, “don’t touch me” he said as he looked at Ruelle, his eyes were fixed on her, boring holes through her skull but she didn’t look at him.
“How can Ruelle be here?” Ivy spoke, and everyone thought of the same questions as they looked at Ruelle.
Agatha spoke, “She disappeared all those years ago, how come she ended up as the council lord’s wife?”
David, Ruelle’s brother looked at his younger sister as well and could not believe what he was seeing, “something about her seems strange… she does not look the same. Something about her has changed.”
Adam and Ruelle looked at each other as they walked towards their seat and sat down.
And not once did Ruelle looked at Hael, unable to take it anymore Hale made the first move and walked towards Adam and his wife.
“Hael, wait!” Martha and others tried to stop him but they couldn’t, they looked anxiously as they saw Hael approached Adam and Ruelle.
“Hello lord Garcia, it’s been a while since I last saw you.” Hael said as he looked at Adam with a sweet smile on his face, however those who knew him could see the crazed look in his eyes and the anger behind his smile.
He then glanced at Ruelle and said, “hello Mrs. Garcia,” it hurt him to say that line, he felt like his tongue burned when he mentioned Ruelle as Mrs Garcia.
Hael observed her expression and looked for any abnormality, he looked for any signs of nervousness, anxiety, shock, surprise, anything just anything to confirm his suspicion but he found nothing.
She just looked at him normally and smiled at him.
“Hello Alpha Kendrick.” Adam got up and shook hands with Hael, “you are right it’s been a while since I last saw, I believe you haven’t met my wife yet, please meet Violetta Garcia.”
Hael looked at Ruelle and raised his hand for a handshake, “it’s nice to meet you.”
Ruelle smiled and shook hands with Hael, “hello, Alpha Kendrick.”
Hael squeezed Ruelle’s hand, but not hard enough to hurt her, he smiled before letting go of her hand and asked, “if you don’t mind then may I ask that how did the two of you met?”
Adam smiled and said, “we met here at the council.”
“I see. So, was it love marriage?”
Adam smiled as he snaked his arm around Ruelle, “of course it was, I fell in love with her the moment I saw her.”
Hael looked at Adam’s hand over Ruelle’s waist and he felt the urge to break that hand, he clenched his fist but still managed to keep his smile, “I see.” He then looked at Ruelle and said, “So it was a love marriage.”
Ruelle smiled as she said, “of course, I love my husband very much.”
Hael looked at her and she looked back at him, their eyes met and they held the eye contact for a while none of them wanting to backdown first, they stared each other intensely.
“Hael.” The stare was broken when Martha came beside Hael and touched his arm which didn’t go unnoticed by Ruelle, “you left me alone,” she said. Ivy, Agatha, David and Thomas came there too. They all looked at Ruelle and then at Adam.
Thomas spoke, “Hello lord Garcia, my name is Thomas and I am the beta of the Gealach pack.”
“Hello.” Adam talked with others while Ruelle stood beside him smiling sweetly, she didn’t look at Hael again, her gaze was focused only and only on Adam which drove Hael insane and Martha could see that.
She could see that how much Hael was affected by Ruelle, and she felt angry, she had tried so hard to be noticed by Hael but she always failed in front of Ruelle.
After a few seconds Ruelle excused herself and went away from there, she had to make a phone call to the nanny at her house who was looking after Vera.
She walked away from the noise and found a quiet corridor where she can talk to Rose, the nanny and once she was done talking, she was ready to go back, however when she turned back she saw Hael standing behind her.
Her smile dropped and her eyes turned cold and she kept her phone in her bag before she started to walk, she tried to walk past Hael but the latter harshly grabbed her shoulder and pinned her against the wall.
Ruelle’s eyes widened as she glared at Hael, “How dare you touch me!”
Hael smirked as he looked at Ruelle, they were standing very close to each other and Ruelle could see that Hael did not look the same, he had changed, he was of course as handsome as before but something was missing, Hael noticed Ruelle too.
He looked at her up and down, she was still the most beautiful woman he had seen but now she looked cold and aloof. She was still as sexy as before; her body was mesmerizing and her eyes were hypnotizing but they held no warmth.
“Violetta huh.” Hael said in a cold voice. “This name doesn’t suit you Ruelle.”
“It’s none of your business let me go, my husband is waiting for me.”
“Say that again and I will remind you who your mate is.”
“It’s not you anymore, you have rejected me, the mate bond is over, you are my past and he is my present, my marriage is the reality.”
“I don’t care about this stupid reality, and I refused to believe that you have actually moved on”
“Your acceptance or refusal is not important anymore Hael… let me go. What do you want?”
“Leave him.” He said, his heart was in immense pain and he felt like he was going to die because of the pain that he was feeling.
“Why should I leave him?” she asked and smiled, “I am so happy with him.”
Hael felt his heart bleed even more, all these years Hael had been looking for Ruelle madly. These four years he has hated himself and drowned in regret and self-hatred, he had felt empty all this time.
He was in so much pain and was suffering and drowning in misery.
“I want you back Ruelle and I am going to have you one way or the other!” he said.
Ruelle’s eyes stung as warm tears filled them, “after everything you did? After how you rejected me? After how you accused me? You refused to listen to me, you banished me and humiliated me and you still think that I will come back with you! How can you even think that I will come back to you!
I begged you so much Hael! I begged you to not reject me, to believe me but you did not listen to me! I will never forgive you! And I am married now!”
“Then divorce him!”
“I won’t!” Ruelle spoke, “I won’t leave him! I am not going to come back to you!”
Hael smiled as he said, “it seems like you think that your marriage can save you from me huh, Ruelle I don’t care if you are married or not, you are my mate and I am ready to make up for all the hurt that I have caused you.”
“It’s too late.” Ruelle said, “you are too late.”
Hael then asked, “tell me, do you really love him? Do you love him as much as you loved me! Is he your second chance mate? Tell me Ruelle why did you marry him.”
Ruelle did not answer as she looked at Hael. Hael had a good eye he was observant and she knew that Hael already had doubts.
Hael knew her very well and she was scared that Hael might be able to look past her façade, so she pushed him and said, “get lost Hael and don’t come near me.”
She said as he started to walk forward but Hael smirked, “you did not answer my question Ruelle. I am letting you go for now but I will come to you soon, dear.”
Ruelle clenched her fists and walked away determined to go far away from Hael
