Chapter 6 - Scheming for the title.

1105 Words
Zayn I met up with Bryce, after the whole ordeal at the waterfall, and I knew that I was in for a wild ride. I have had feelings for Alice since the day my mate had left me, and she had helped me get over the grief. She was loyal to her core, and I knew that this could be my second chance at a mate. Maybe the moon goddess wasn’t as cruel as I had made her out to be after all. Bryce had told me that there were a couple of rogues lurking around the pack borders, and that we needed to take action rather fast if we didn’t want them to try and raid our pack like they had with the neighbouring packs. I organized the last of my paperwork, filing away most of our business deals into the archives, and we eventually decided to head out to meet with the rogues, and their leader Aden. We ran at full speed, and the warriors were following close behind, until we reached the pack borders, where, sure enough, the rogues had been waiting patiently. “State your business here, or leave this pack, otherwise we will be forced to wipe out your kind for good.” I stated, my Alpha tone ringing through the air, and some of the rogues had bowed their heads, the others were resisting the Alpha command. Looks like he had taught them well. “We are here in search of food, and maybe to take over your pack grounds for ourselves who knows?” He stated, his arrogance blinding him to the fact that they were clearly outnumbered, and outranked. “I believe that will not be happening today, and I sincerely hope you reconsider leaving before we tear you to shreds.” Bryce stated, and I could see amusement dancing in Aden’ eyes. “And what makes you think that we will give in, when we have already raided most of the neighbouring packs?” He inquired sarcastically. My blood was boiling at this point, and I was ready to shed blood. That is when they pounced. Without warning, Aden leapt forward, changing into his wolf form, which in turn caused the rest of us to also shift into our respective wolf forms. We charged at them, claws, and teeth itching to get a taste of our enemies' suffering. We fought for what seemed like an eternity, going back and forth, until I eventually overpowered Aden, and all of the other wolves stopped fighting as I barred my teeth around his corraded artery in his neck. I was one bite away from killing their leader, and the tension was thick between all of us. “Leave! And never come back!” I growled, my voice echoing throughout the woods, causing all of the wolves to submit, and I knew we had won. I was going to have to take Markus in under investigation as I had a feeling that the problem ran much deeper than just him. The warriors chased away the rest of his posse as we dragged him towards the pack dungeon. We were going to have fun getting him to talk. After locking him up, I headed back to my office, preparing for the upcoming wedding of my son and Alice’s sister Kaitlyn. I felt bad for Alice, I knew how it felt losing a mate that you thought was supposed to stay by your side for the rest of your lives. The grief she must have felt, had to have been hard on her. If I was being honest, I am kind of glad that they were not mated anymore, because that would mean that I finally had a chance with the woman I had been in love with since forever. No one, including Alice, knows this fact, and I wanted to keep it that way until we were officially mated at the mating ceremony I had planned, as it was clear that she was just as into me as I was into her. I resumed my work, the preparations for the wedding were in order, and it was happening tomorrow. I hope that Alice would be okay, she did not deserve that heartache, but I cannot just banish my son for being a pushover, and a terrible mate. I knew that eventually I would have to face the consequences of his actions and do something about it, but I would only do something if Alice had asked me to, otherwise I could do nothing, as he was my son, and heir to the Alpha title. That, however, could change very soon, if Alice were to produce a new heir, but that was also up to her, as I would not force her to do anything that she did not want to do. With a heavy sigh, I prepared for tomorrow’s arrangements, and prayed to the moon goddess that everything worked out fine in the end. Kaitlyn My plan was working very well. I had Alice’s mate, and I was next in line to be the Luna of the pack, meaning I was one step closer to my goal of eradicating her presence from this pack. She deserved it, our parents were always on her side, and she always got what she wanted, receiving praise from those around her as if she was some kind of saint. Well, it was about time she felt how I had felt for the last seven years of our lives, and I would do anything to make her regret ever being born. I just needed to get through this wedding, and I needed to get Tristan to give us both an heir that I could carry to seal the deal. I am coming for you Alice, and I hope you are ready for the hell I am going to unleash onto your life, whether you deserve it or not is irrelevant. “Hey baby what are you up to?” Tristan inquired, and I smiled at him. “Oh, nothing much. Just planning for the wedding, I hope that you went all out? We are destined to be together anyway, so why not make our special night as special as it can get?” I stated, and he nodded with excitement. “I agree. Only the best, for the best future Luna of our pack.” He stated, and I smiled softly at him. He grabbed me by the back of the head softly, and a growl escaped his lips, and I suppose he wanted to try again for the baby, and who was I to object?
