Alice
I did not get a single wink of sleep last night; my thoughts were swarming around in my head. I needed to find a way to get under Tristan’s skin, and I needed my revenge. There was no way I was going to let the two of them get away with what they had done.
I walked towards the living room of our pack house, and sat on one of the many sofas that littered the enormous room. I decided that since my sister was capable of carrying a child, no doubt Tristan’s as well, that she could take over my duties, of taking care of the pups.
I opened a book that I had yet to finish, and started reading to pass the time. A few hours had passed, since I sat down to read, as my gaze traveled to the clock, and I noticed it was eerily quiet today.
“Why aren’t you doing your pack duties, and taking care of the pups today?” A gruff voice snapped me out of my trance, and I looked up to find none other than Zayn.
“Why bother if I can just let the new mother of the pack handle it?.” I stated bluntly.
“You know pack duties have to get done, how can you just sit here and…” I held up my hand, and looked up at him, signaling for him to keep his mouth shut.
“I have taken enough grief from this place, and I would like to spend my day in peace thank you very much.” I stated simply, and I could see that Zayn did not appreciate my sarcastic response.
“I will have you know that you have duties to fulfill to the pack, and I will not stand for this lazy behaviour simply because you…” He caught himself before he could say what we all knew he was going to say.
“Because… I… What Zayn?” I asked, as I stood up from the couch. I looked up at him, my face filled with disgust. I was disgusted at the fact that he blamed me for losing my mate.
“Whatever… This whole family is sick, I’ll take my leave, thanks for nothing a**h*le.” I stated, walking back to the spare room that no one had used in a while. It didn’t look bad, it was just a little dusty. I started cleaning the room, and went up to the main bedroom I had shared once upon a time, to get my things out of there.
As I arrived at my old bedroom I could hear moaning, and I knew those two scumbags were at it again. I rolled my eyes, not really caring anymore, since the mate bond was broken, because I had rejected him.
I walked inside, ignoring the fact that they were busy with their antics, and started gathering my stuff into a bag.
“Can you leave? Are you blind and deaf? Hey I am talking to you!” My sister screamed, but I just ignored her. Tristan stopped what he was doing, and he looked like he had seen a ghost. I finished gathering all my stuff, not uttering a single word to any of them, as I closed the door behind me, and headed back to my room.
I was walking to the room, when I passed by Zayn. “Hey Alice! Wait up, I just wanted to…” I glared at him, giving him a dead stare, and he immediately stopped talking.
“Go talk to your f@cked up piece of sh*t son, and leave me alone! I did not ask for any of this to happen, yet I get blamed for almost everything, as if it was my fault for your b@stard child cheating?! Get out of my face Zayn.” I stated, pushing him out of my way as I carried my stuff to my room.
I unpacked all the boxes with my stuff inside that I had carried, and that is when I heard someone coming down the hall towards my room. I ignored it, and walked towards the last box, picking it up, and placing it on the bed. This was all of my stuff that Tristan had given me, including the promise ring.
I found myself laughing out loud, promise my a**. I rolled my eyes before taking the box outside, and that is when I crashed into none other than Zayn. I fell to the ground, and the contents of the box spilled onto the floor, covering the floor with old photos. Rings, and letters, as well as a couple of stuffed animals.
Zayn’s gaze traveled to the contents of the floor, and I could feel myself shrinking back in embarrassment. I decided to ignore his presence as if nothing had just happened, and I started picking up the junk on the floor.
“Listen… I wanted to apologize for what I said earlier. I did not mean for it to come out like that. You did not deserve what happened to you, and I am truly sorry for what Tristan did. I just wanted you to know that you cannot skip your pack duties. The pups barely listened to your sister, and you are the only one who knows how to properly handle them, so please can you do that for me?” He stated, apologizing for everything in the process, and I found myself willing to forgive him.
Suddenly an idea popped into my head, and I stood up, walking closer to him. I was now mere inches away from him, and I looked up at him. My lips hovered just above his, almost connecting as both our breaths hit each other’s lips.
“Whatever you say, Alpha.” I whispered, making sure to make his title sound as seductive as possible, before biting my lower lip in anticipation of his reaction.
His breath was caught in his throat, and his eyes were fading into a golden honey colour. “Alice… I know what you are trying to do…” He stated, taking a deep breath before he continued, and I knew I had an effect on him, causing a smile to form on my face. Until he brushed his lips against mine teasingly, causing butterflies to pool in my stomach, and that is when he finished his sentence.
“Do not, tempt me.” He stated, before pulling away, and heading back to his office, presumably. I just stood there, once again at a loss for words, before I snapped out of my daze, and continued with unpacking my things. At this rate, I was digging my own grave…
