Star sat soaking in the tub relaxing into the hot water, she felt overused muscles start to loosen, she watched the bubbles around her swirling in the water as her skin turned pink. Finally deciding it was time to wash her hair she sank lower submerging her self in the lavender scented water. She sat up taking a deep breath and grabbed the shampoo to lather up her thick hair, once she was finished she grabbed the conditioner and worked it through the long strands, untangling it with her fingers as she went. She washed her body next, cleaning away the sweat and grime from training outside. She was starting to feel more like her self when she stood to turn on the shower and rinse her hair and body off.
Stepping out of the tub she dried off with a fluffy cream colored towel, her cheeks were pink from the heat of the tub and she still felt overly warm. She wrapped a towel around her body and twisted her hair up into a towel as well. She made her way into the bedroom grabbing her bag and putting it on the bed she held her hand above it and said, "Ego postulo somnum indumentis." She unzipped the bag to pull out a white oversized sleep shirt and a pair of boxer shorts, she shed her damp towels and slipped into the comfortable pajamas.
Reaching down she grabbed the towels heading to the bathroom to hang them up. Once her task was completed she made her way to the sitting room, looking over the books on the bookshelf she finally settled on a good looking murder mystery, she could use something to take her brain off the subject of the wolf whom she seemed to be hyperfocused on.
She sat down holding her book, thinking about Zane even as she tried not to. How would things work out between them, the only person she had ever been with was Will. It would be new territory for her and she found it made her a little anxious, she hoped she wouldn't lose the friendship she had with the wolf when it was all over with.
The wolf she had been thinking of choose that moment to walk through the door. She smiled shyly at him, cheeks flaming in nervousness.
"Star can I talk to you?" The quiet wolf asked her.
"Sure Zane, what's up?" She smiled at him sitting the unopened book down beside her on the couch.
"I just talked with Will and he said you have feelings for me, I was just wanting to know what you want to do about them?" He looked at her both he and his wolf hoping that she would open her heart to him as well.
Blushing she smiled at him, " I do have feelings for you Zane, I think I've always cared about you. I would like to see where things go with us, I talked to Will about it as well and he said he was ok with us figuring things out, just to be honest with him. Which really I think we all need honesty if this is going to work out til you find your mate." The witch babbled on not knowing that he had already found her.
"I know that the call of the mate will be too much too resist, so even though it's probably going to be painful when you find her, I'll step back and let you guys be together." The witch continued on seeming to not need air, the wolf smiled at her, "I don't think you need to worry about that, I found my mate a long time ago Star."
"Why didn't you tell me? What happened? Who is it? Again why didn't you tell me?" She looked shocked not knowing that he had already found her, what if his mate had rejected him, the feeling of utter despair she felt for him had her wanting to hunt down his mate. "If she rejected you, it's because she didn't know how amazing you are and she's obviously crazy."
He smiled at her before nodding, "Sometimes she is, I found her the day I turned sixteen and I had planned to make her fall in love with me before telling her she was my mate so she would know it wasn't just her being my mate that made me love her, but who she was that I loved." The redhead looked ready to cry for her friend, "Did she die, what happened? I don't remember you hanging out with any girls during high school?" He shook his head, a gentle smile on his face.
"She didn't die, but I didn't realize someone else was after her heart until it was too late so I missed my chance to tell her how I felt." The wolf told her gently, tears started to form in the redhead's eyes, she looked down worrying the hem of her shirt, "I'm so sorry, that must have been so painful for you."
"It was, but I watched her become a beautiful woman and I'm so glad to have been by her side for all this time." He lifted her chin up so he could look into her tear-filled eyes as the tears started to leak down her face.
"I'm your mate?" She asked him tears coursing down her cheeks, she hiccupped as her face started to turn red, it was turning into an ugly cry very quickly and she tried hard to fight it but couldn't. Zane held her chin, using his other hand to wipe the tears from her cheeks.
"Yes, Star you are and I wouldn't trade my time spent with you for anything." He leaned is kissing her forehead as she sobbed against him.
He held her close as her sobs subsided, kissing the top of her head he smiled smelling the soft smell of her the strawberry now mixed with a bit of lavender from her soap, he wouldn't change this moment for anything. He was so glad to have finally been able to tell his friend the truth that he had kept hidden from her for almost nine years.
"I needed to wash my face again, I'll be right back." The redhead smiled at the wolf before making her way to the restroom to splash her face with cool water. She grabbed a cup from by the sink and filled it taking a long drink and looked in the mirror, her eyes were puffy and her face was red.
