Cassidy, Zane, and the children followed the black-clad duo as they drove quickly through the streets, making good progress towards the city limits. The children slept exhaustedly in the back seat after finishing there snacks and bottles of water. The dark-haired teenager named Cory as Zane had come to find out, currently sat with his head leaned against the window; eyes closed. Zane felt he was a shifter as well, but he wasn't sure what kind. His smell wasn't wolf like his own but still a familiar smell.
Cassidy sat watching the pair on the motorcycle in front of them, "So he's a vampire?"
Zane nodded his head hands gripping the steering wheel, "For as long as I've known him, I know he's quite old."
"Gross, I mean yeah. He's pretty, those cheekbones and that ass and all but hello, he's a bloodsucker. I'm glad you guys saved us and all but I thought he'd be a shifter or a fellow witch. Not a dead guy, so not meaning to sound all judge-y, but gross." Cassidy babbled and Zane figured it was her nerves making the normally talkative blonde witch even more so.
"It was a shock to me too, I did find out pretty early that he was a vampire. So less of a shock to me." Zane turned the steering wheel watching the pools of darkness around them, street lights were still lighting up patches of the street making it just enough light to barely see beyond the road.
"So all that time she talked about him in AP Bio years ago, I never would have guessed. So where are we headed? I mean I know he said to his sire and all." Zane bit his tongue as the witch kept talking, her talking was making him feel even more exhausted and run down.
"His sire's place is on the outskirts of town, we should reach there by sunrise." He looked into the rearview mirror checking on the sleeping children, sighing tiredly.
"So vampire's lair, I'm not going to allow them to feed off the kids. We'll find somewhere else to crash if it comes to that. Just a heads up." Cassidy said rolling down her window allowing the cool air to try and keep her awake for a little longer.
"I don't blame you, their kids and in this world, they need to be protected." Zane looked at her with a serious look in his hazel eyes.
Silence overtook the truck as both adults let their thoughts of the future overtake them. Cory sat in the back seat processing all that had happened to him and the two kids from his pride, knowing that whatever would happen he would protect them with his life if need be.

Star clutched Will's waist, helmet limiting her view of the darkness around them as the drove on, Will's bleached blonde hair glinted in the moonlight making it look almost silver she turned her head leaning against Will's back taking comfort in his closeness to her. Finding Cassidy would make things more complicated for the group, but the witch couldn't leave the girl to die. She and Zane had gone to school with the bubbly blonde witch, feeling her magic call out to Star's own had been most unexpected.
The three youngsters were what worried her the most, the teen had the arua of a feline. It stretched over him the same way Zane's wolf mixed with his own arua, the boy probably hadn't even had his first shift yet. It was there though, lurking just beneath his skin waiting to come out at the right time. How would the other vampires react to the children, she didn't think she could stand by if they choose to feed from the kids.
The blonde vampire was similarly wrapped in his own thoughts, scanning the darkness around them with demonic gold eyes. He wasn't looking forward to seeing his sire again, but he had felt the call from his sire and knew all of his sire's other childer had felt it as well and would undoubtedly be headed towards the great wanker. He knew it would be the best way to keep his mate safe, there would be strength in numbers. His sire didn't pick his childer for beauty alone, each was trained to fight from the night they arose from their turning until they chose to go on their own. Most were very cunning and masters in their own right, his sire didn't turn weaklings.
Will knew he was very powerful, he was his sire's second childe. He was also the black sheep of the family with his wild and destructive ways, he had been a man of 27 years old when he was turned in the year of 1769. A brash man, brawling and drunk often in his human years before Daddy dearest had set his eyes on him. He wasn't looking forward to their reunion, he knew it probably wouldn't be a happy one. His sire's mate referred to him as the prodigal son, he had taken to sparring like a fish to water and in the beginning, before that she-devil had shown up, he had wanted to please his sire. The way he hadn't been able to bring pride to his own father in life.
He had loved his sire in those early days, not just as a childe, but as a lover. It wasn't uncommon for childe and sire relationships to be very heavy with physical intimacy and at the time Will thought himself in love with his sire. Until his sire's mate had shown up and things had started to change within their relationship, his sire's mate (he liked to think of her as the brunette b***h) had a gift, she could cause lust to rise within a person that they wouldn't be able to control nor be able to fight off. Being someone who was often in control, having that stripped from him wasn't a feeling he liked nor enjoyed. She had taken a liking to him and even though he consented with what was happening to him, he didn't like the loss of control she had caused within him with her own powers.
He had left shortly after she had returned, meeting in his travels with his sire whenever they felt each other. The bond had shifted though and Will knew what he had felt wasn't love, but thankfulness at his turning.
