Meeting the Alpha

The witch shook her head at her memories, pushing them away. Zane stood taking both of their trays to sit them outside of the door, she smiled her thanks at the wolf when he sat back down.

"So Will told me about Sayo and what she does. He doesn't want you alone with her or Gabriel." Zane watched the witch, running his fingers through his multi-colored hair, black tipped fingernails lightly scratching his scalp.

"I understand, it just sucks. What she does, I've got no words to describe it." The redhead looked at her quiet friend as he nodded reaching over to squeeze her hand gently.

"I get it, what she does is rape. If a person drugged another and did the same thing she does to people, that would be considered rape." He looked at her watching as she looked down hair falling in front of her face making her look so much like her younger self and not like the confident twenty-five-year-old she was now.

"I don't really want to talk about it Zane, what happened, it could have been a lot worse. She could have drained me, but I'm okay and still alive and well." She looked up pushing her hair out of her face, "I'm alive and that counts for something."

He nodded at her thankful that she was alive, a light knock at the door caught their attention. The shifter from before opened the door and peered in gray eyes taking in their close proximity. "I'm supposed to show you around." He stepped into the room looking at the witch and wolf, "If you both could come with me I'd appreciate it."

Zane stood grabbing his black converse and shoving them on his bare feet as Star stood and moved to grab her boots as well. "I'm Star, what's your name?" She smiled at the auburn-haired man as he stood patiently by the door.

"Lawson, I'm the master and mistress's pet." He looked at them both, head bowing in submission at the stronger shifter in the room.

Zane walked up to him taking is his show of submission, he was a fellow wolf, like himself. "Lead the way, Lawson." He said gently, holding out his arm for the redheaded witch. She tucked her hand in the crock of his arm and smiled at both wolves.

Lawson took them on a tour of the house, showing them the wings in which some of the shifters slept, and where the vampires slept with their mates. He led them to a massive entertainment room where a few humans and shifters lounged around watching a movie on the huge screen. After that, he showed them down a long twisting hallway leading them to the kitchen where everything was done in stainless steel, they followed him from the kitchen towards the backyard the moon shown high in the sky and Cassidy and Kory were sitting on a bench as the children played tag with some of the other children and a large black wolf.

Both boy and girl were running happily shrieking in delight as a dark wolf bound after them, the wolf saw the pair standing with the auburn-haired wolf and bounded towards them playfully. Shifting back to a large dark-skinned man as he got closer to them, he reached over to a chair beside him pulling on a pair of shorts to cover his nakedness before smiling widely and sticking out his hand. "Hello, I'm Alpha Graham. Welcome to the Live Oak pack house." Both Zane and Star looked at each other wondering about the vampires and how they were here at the pack house, Zane's previous pack didn't mingle with the undead and his friendship with Star was frowned upon due to her status as mate of a vampire. Zane shook his hand, smiling.

"Now don't look like that, it's a mutual agreement with the vampires. We protect them in return they protect us. Our pack members who are of age consent to feeding them so we don't have to worry about the zombie virus infecting one of them, our children are safe to be kids and our mates are protected." Both alpha wolves looked at each other, the redhead could feel the tendrils of power trying to force a submission out of the other. She could practically feel Zane's wolf biting, he smiled at the other Alpha.

"Alpha Graham, thank you for welcoming us to your home. We won't be a problem for you or your pack." Zane spoke confidently to the older wolf, Graham nodded his head, "You're more than welcome to join the pack or even just go for a run sometime." The two men had reached an understanding, Lawson pulled their attention away from the Alpha.

"If you will both follow me, I'll finish our tour and you'll both be free to do as you please." He turned, nodding his head. "Thank you for your time Alpha." Graham nodded back at the man before turning and walking back over to the children. Zane took the pair back into the house heading to the main room they had seen the night before, opening the door the pair noticed all the eyes in the room turn towards them hungrily.

Star gulped, tightening her hand on Zane's arm. She spotted Will in the corner talking to a short, curvy, latina vampire. He turned at the silence in the room and looked towards the pair blue eyes locking with his mate's green ones as they entered the room. He turned excusing himself before making his way towards his mate and the wolf.

Star watched him stalk closer, his preternatural grace making her mouth go dry as he eyed her hungrily. He stopped just in front of the duo, reaching out his hand to the redhead he smiled as she grabbed his hand and he pulled her in for a gentle kiss. "Thank you for keeping her safe for me, Wolf. I owe you one." He looked back at the wolf who watched his mate with hooded eyes.
