“Can you see the monster, Lisa?” I grunted while perched on her shoulder, straining for a glimpse of the creature.
“I’m trying. Stop shaking,” she managed to utter, her words stumbling out as I clung on.
“I can’t. You’re heavy,” Lisa snapped through clenched teeth.
“Who are you calling heavy? And quit grinding your teeth, or you’ll grind them to dust,” I shot back.
“How do you know?” Lisa questioned.
“Oh, oh, I see it,” I exclaimed suddenly.
“Get off me and deal with it,” Lisa ordered, urgency edging her voice.
“I can’t,” I mumbled, my confidence waning. Before I could react, Lisa forcefully pushed me off her shoulder, and I collided with the wall, a dull thud reverberating through me. Wincing in pain, I muttered a curse under my breath.
“What do you mean you can’t?” Lisa demanded, looming over me.
“I mean I forgot,” I admitted, scratching my head in frustration.
“Didn’t Hades teach you how?” Lisa inquired.
“Yeah, he did.”
