Both of us, thankfully dodges the attack, coming from the warrior's family, we do know how to handle a sudden attack. Call it instinct from the grueling training that we have. Riftan then carries me into his arms and flies high to the sky.
We see the enormous creature from above.
“F*ck! What is that?!”
“I don’t know, but surely it wasn’t the cannibals, anymore.” Said Riftan.
“Well, it wasn’t, but it was so much worse, just look at the size of that thing!”
“Should I carry you away? To the main camp, I think I can manage.”
I stare at the creature, looking at four protruding fangs, in its large jaws, it looks reptilian with two red glowing eyes. I saw a long tongue coming from the creature's mouth.
“Riftan, look out!”
The tongue, elongated until it reached us, Riftan barely manage to dodge the attack, barely, because his right shoulder got hit by this long tongue. He flew away, trying to run as fast as he can from the creature.
“Are you okay?” I asked him, worrying about his wound.
“Don’t worry, I’m okay, let us hide in the high cave, for now, we need to go away from the creature.”
We are finally secured on one of the higher caves, though Riftan warned me that the creature is still out there, seeking us.
“Seeking us? So you’re saying the hideous creature targeting both of us?”
He stares at my face, in silence.
“Hey, say something,” I said to Riftan, while I take a closer look at his wound.
“I’m sorry, I just couldn’t, I don’t know anything about the creature. I was studying his pattern, one of the trainings on my camp.”
When I have a closer inspection, there was something wrong with his wound, it has now become red and boiling. I check his temperature, it was rising, rapidly.
“This is not good, the tongue of the creature, full of poison.”
His breath became slower, I was so worried, I don’t know what I should do.
“Wolf, check out my bag, there’s a red glowing tonic, inside a small glass container. Take it out, for me.”
Nodded at his request, I put my hand inside the small bag, there’s something odd about this bag, inside of it, is dark and seems spacious. My hand feel a cold glass-like container, and when I took it out, I saw a red liquid inside the glass container.
He grabs the container in a hurry and gulps the liquid as soon as possible.
“By the hell, what is that?”
“Red elixir, a temporary healing attribute.”
“Temporary? Oh no, what should we do?”
He smiles at me, trying to ease my mind, “Don’t worry, wolf, I’m not going to die just yet. Although, you need to do something for me.”
“Of course, what do you need?”
“I want you to gather two herbs for me to successfully make a potion.”
I gasped and tried to reason with him. “What? but, Riftan, I don’t know anything about plants?!”
He smile and handed me a piece of parchment, with the vivid color of two plants drawn on it.
“This is the plants, I wasn’t the expert on chemistry, but I do remember in one of my first medic classes, these two plants are the antidote for most of the poisons.”
But, Riftan, what if you’re wrong?! What if, these plants!”
He grab my hand, and with his weary face, still tried to ease my nerves. “Believe me, if only I was in perfect health, I could accompany you, but soon I will be in a deep slumber, the red potion is temporarily stopping the effect of the poison, at the expense of my stamina.”
“What should I do, if I have the plants, then?”
“Brew it for two hours of sun and moon, and then administer the brew potion into my mouth, two or three spoons is enough.”
I almost cried, I couldn’t contain losing the new man in my life, it seems weak of me to do so. I don’t care, even the tough woman needs to shed tears beside her family demised.
“Don’t cry, wolf, I know you can do it, just be very careful of the creature, alright?”
I nodded at my mate, while his eyes are getting heavier and then close completely, I feel his breathing, no irregularity, I put out a warm quilt from his bag and engulfed him with it. I take out a look at his face one more time, and then put off my tunic. Transforming once more, my wolf is ready to face any danger outside the high cave.
I plunge myself into one of the descent points of the cave, and carefully manage my she-wolf to be very utmost careful, regarding the cliff, thankfully this time the cliff is not very steep. I remember the shape of the plants, but just in case, I put the parchment in my mouth. One thing that annoys me, I don’t have any scents of the plants.
Walking carefully into every bush and tree, I take a look at every plant and flower, though the drawing of the plants is in full color, I can’t seem to find it everywhere anywhere. I growl in frustration, and also anxious about the huge creature whereabout. While I was trying so hard to find the plants, a sound from my behind, makes me turn hastily, and my she-wolf was on full alert.
Then, I saw him…
An elven man, taller than Riftan, with brown almost golden skin, short silky black hair, with piercing eyes staring at me with curiosity. He wears a simple tunic, with his hands cross between his chest.
"A golden wolf with very fascinating eye colors, hello, what are you doing here?" Asked the elven man himself.
Before I could answer his question, my nose catches the foul smell that I have been memorized, it was the creature, it come from behind the elven man, and without any hesitation, it plunges and attacked the mysterious man.
Dust and debris make me unable to witness the destruction right away, I just hope that he will be alright, as though I had already known him for a long time.
Not for long, in front of me, there was no trace of an elven man, instead, what I saw, is a huge dragon, that matches the size of the huge creature. He roared, and then I realized, the elven man is a Weredragon!
