The Princess and Her Omega

Alexandra “You can’t catch me!” I spring and dash forward. My feet get instantly wet in the fresh green grass. I run ahead to the tall tree by the pond, stumbling and almost losing balance. I turn back but don’t see him, so I slow down. He is not behind me as I expected. “Eliot?” I call, “I know you are around?” It’s quiet, the only sound is coming from the bees, flying around and the water in the pond moving as the wind blows. “It’s not funny, “ I called again, still glancing around. No one. It’s like he disappeared. I walk slowly toward the water and pause. I start getting worried. But as I turn around I feel two strong arms, wrapping around me. “What are you - “ I gasp but don’t finish as we fall into the water together. “I knew it!” I struggle to come out and Eliot lifts me, arms around me. Then I wrap my legs around his waist while we are still in the water. “Got you. “ he grins, his lips only an inch away from mine. His dark hair is wet, dripping on his beautiful face and his dark eyes seem somehow darker. The sun rays are dancing on his skin and I am suddenly very aware of him. Something flashes in Eliot’s eyes and I notice their color slowly changes into the gold of his wolf. My heart speeds up and I know he hears it. I am just a human but he isn’t. Eliot is a werewolf, and even though he is an omega, a year ago he told me I was his mate. I was not sure what that meant at the time, but in moments like those I am beginning to understand. His hands slide lower, from my back to my tights. Eliot grins and I see his teeth slowly changing into fangs. My breath catches. I am not afraid- I would never be afraid of Eliot. We grew up together and even though his wolf appeared some time ago, for me, he is still the same Eliot. If not more attractive now. “You are very beautiful, “ he says and lifts his hand. Then he stops, mid- air and doesn’t touch me. Instead, Eliot presses me toward him and I shiver- I blame the cold water on this but he smiles and relaxes his hold around me. “I should let go of you before I’ve done something. “ Suddenly the realization that his touch disappears makes me brave. Too brave. “No, “ I whisper, wrapping my fingers around his strong forearm and my legs around him harder. “I don’t want you to let go of me. “ The flame in his eyes flashes again, this time more powerful and the smile melts into a wolfish grin. “Are you sure?” he asks, voice down to a growl. “I am. “ He shifts slightly towards me, my heart beating so loud I am afraid it might break my rib cage. I might be his mate but we’ve never done anything more than holding hands. I feel Eliot’s breath on my face and my eyes flutter closed. His lips are only a feather away from mine. I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long, and… “Princess Alexandra!” the voice of one of the guards splits the air and my eyes snap open. Eliot pulls away from me instantly and I unwrap my legs around him, my feet touching the muddy bottom of the lake. “Miss Alexandra, are you here?” Eliot takes another step away from me, his eyes moving from my face to my soaking dress. He puts more space between us as two of my father's guards appear from behind the bushes. “Miss ALexanda, “ one of them says, panting. “We’ve been looking for you for ages! “ “And you found me. “ I say, lightly. “What is it?” “Your father, his majesty, is expecting you in the grand hall. “ “My father?” I am puzzled, “But why?” “He didn’t say, “ the other guard shakes his head, “He ordered you into the hall as soon as possible. “ Eliot and I exchange a look as we get out of the water and follow the guards. *** My father’s lands in the Gelidora region are not vast, but they are among the oldest in the kingdom. Here, people and wolves live together. My father was the first man to be a hybrid ruler of the lands. My mother was an alpha. My sister Laura has a wolf. I… Well, I don't have one. But I’ve never felt different because of this. People and wolves admire my father and he cares about his subjects too. Our lands are peaceful- unlike the rest of the kingdom. Water is dripping from me as we walk, following the guards. Once we reach the tall, marble door of the hall Eliot pauses. “Everything will be fine. “ He says, “I will be waiting for you outside. “ “Okay, “ I mutter and I wish I could go in there with him. The Guards are waiting for Eliot to leave, becoming impatient. As an omega, Eliot is not among the most desired wolves in the palace. On top of it, my father doesn’t know I am his mate. “I will come find you, “ I tell Eliot and he leans in, kissing my cheek. The guards instantly close around him, but Eliot pulls away and smiles at them. “I am leaving, “ He lifts his hands and walks away. He risks so much because of me… I watch Eliot as he disappears down the corridor. I am soaking wet, my long, dark hair is sticking to my front and to my face. I am barefoot and my father is going to kill me if he sees me like this. I pause before the doors and exhale slowly, “Alright, “I tell the guards, “Open the doors. “ And they obey the order.
