We remained at the edge of Orion's domain, the breeze crying through the turned trees like a warning. The land here felt old, as though it conveyed the heaviness of hundreds of years of secrets and neglected fights. The sky had darkened totally at this point, the moon had taken cover behind thick mists, projecting everything in a faint, spooky shine. I looked at Cora, who remained adjacent to me, her eyes wide as she took in the destruction before us. Eryx led the way with his broad shoulders hunched down as if he could also sense the solidity in the air. "Orion could do without visitors," he muttered. "Particularly not around this time."
