Chapter 1 The King of Romeodel
Adelia was not prepared for this day. Never, ever, in her wildest dreams that she would imagine that this day would come. But she had no choice. Her father had no choice. The whole country of Sanjolia had no choice. They must save the people. They must save the animals and the forest. They must save their beloved Sanjolia, even if it means that she will never be free again. "This is just until we find the culprit behind the killings," her father assured her in a whisper as they stood in the front gates of their palace. They are waiting for someone, and the people are lining up all around the main entrance just to witness this important day for her.  She just nodded and swallowed hard. She never really cared for what would happen for herself anyway. She was born like a wild child and gave her King father a lot of headaches when she was younger. But she has grown up now and as the sole princess of this country, she has learned to bear the responsibility of making sure that Sanjolia's legacy as a nature haven lives on.  "HERE COMES THE KING OF ROMEODEL!" Everyone straightened up in their spots, including Adelia. She was not interested in this person that they were waiting for but she wanted to give him the best impression. After all, if this person gets disappointed then the agreement between the two countries might get canceled. And that's the least that she wanted to happen right now.  Adelia looked down at her vibrant rose-colored dress just to make sure that she looked good. Her father looked nervous too, but nevertheless, everyone was excited for this moment. She saw the black limousine surrounded by patrol cars and motorcycles stop in front of the opened gate of their palace. The convoy was elegant and high-toned in appearance, as expected from their neighbor which is known as a rich and highly technologically advanced country.  But Sanjolia is not going to make it look like this as a charity event. Her father has also prepared for this monumental day, as seen with the festive and elaborate welcoming party that they have provided to make the event more festive. Several trumpets were blown and confetti was scattered from the air as the people in the convoy started coming out from the limousine. "Come on, Adelia, let us meet him." Adelia did what her father told him. She followed him to the car, talking slowly as she felt that this was the last time that she would ever walk free. But she shook her head as she kept on forgetting that this was just temporary. They just need their help, and after that, everything will go back to the way it was. She repeated this in her head so that she'll become a little braver because if Adelia was being honest, she was nervous. She was nervous because she had to marry this stranger. She was just twenty-two, but she was going to get married to someone she doesn't even know. It was common for the Royal Family to do so, as her father married her mother without the two of them even meeting before the wedding. But her parents still ended up loving each other until her mother's last breath. That is why Adelia never bothered to meet her soon-to-be husband before this day because she thought that if he was like his father, then she would eventually like him.  "Please welcome, the newly-crowned King of Romeodel, King Enoch Napoleonez!" There was a round of applause and cheers as the King came out of the classy, black car. And when the people watching saw his face for the first time, the applause and cheers erupted into enlivening shouts and calls. And Adelia could not blame them; she saw his face for the first time too. She thought that he was a God. He was so beautiful and handsome that Adelia could not move for the next couple of seconds as she looked at him. He looked like he was not even a human--- but in a good way. He was a tall, lean man with silver hair and violet eyes, features in a person that Adelia had never seen before. His face was perfect too. He looked a little haughty but also incredibly flawless and ethereal. This man was not real, Adelia thought as she tried to keep her senses back. How can someone look this pretty? And he is a man... Why does he look prettier than any woman in the whole world? But he was also manly, Adelia noticed, so it was like a paradox. Maybe this is what a deity looks like, she thought again but shook her head when she realized what she was doing. She had been enthralled by him that she was not moving. Her father saw her and talked to her. "What's wrong, Adelia? Did you suddenly get cold feet?" "N-No... It's not like that father... I was just... distracted..." Her father sighed, clearly feeling guilty about all of these things that are happening right now. "I know that you volunteered for this, Adelia, but if you changed your mind, just tell me and I will cancel the wedding this instant." I shook my head violently because that should not happen. Our names would not only get tarnished but the whole country will be in trouble. My father would lose everyone's trust and confidence and I could not afford that. I still need my father to be the King. "I am fine, father. Let's meet him already. He might get impatient." Her father nodded and they walked towards the King who looked just a little bit older than her. She had heard the news that he was just crowned as the news King of their country, but every news coming from Romeodel is always taken with a grain of salt. Their country is closed to foreigners, and news about everything that is going on in that place is usually kept a secret. There are rumors circulating that this is because they have discovered something that made them that rich and powerful and that they do not want to share it with the rest of the world. They are a secretive nation, that's why it was the shock of their lives when their ambassador replied to her letter. Yes, it was her who wrote them because she was desperate at that time. She asked for their help even though she did not know any of them in that closed country. But they replied, and the King said in the letter that he was willing to help in exchange for something. "Hello, my bride," said the man in front of her now and she suddenly felt like there was an electric current inside of her. He was giving Adelia a naughty grin. This man looked like trouble, and Adelia was unprepared.
