Hall Room

680 Words
I stare at my long wavy red hair, my general body form, and my perfect curved lips in the mirror. Despite the stress, I still seemed beautiful, exactly like my mother, and I was adored by many creatures, but I had no interest in any of them. Zack, my sole companion, is a werewolf who has been with me since the beginning. I recall how we met: I was exploring the woods with my mother during a camping trip. She was sound asleep, and I slipped out of her arms and wandered off with no idea where I was going. There, I was attacked by a troll named Clara, who was not yet grown but large, and who declared she envied my beauty and wanted to destroy it. Zack pushed her away just as she was ready to slap me with her massive hands because he was only twice her size. She slammed her back against a tree and sobbed. She bolted. I looked at Zack... "Thank you," I said, and he reverted to a human shape. I was just six years old when he was 120 years old and still considered a young werewolf. He carried me back to my frightened mother, who thanked Zack and hugged me; we'd become closest friends since then. And I haven't called him since everything happened. I'm sure he's concerned now. "Master demands your presence in the hall room," the servant remarked from behind the closed door, as I was still missing Zack and appreciating my beauty. "Everything is fine," I said... I went through my closet looking for something to wear and found a red dress that matched my hair well, so I put it on and went out. Inside the mansion, the servant led the way. It's enormous, with stairwells upon stairwells. We hadn't yet arrived at the hall room when we came to a halt in front of a large door with golden knobs. The door swung open, revealing a swarm of vampires. They appeared beautiful, and I was amazed and worried at the same time. As I passed past, I could feel all eyes on me and hear hushed whispering. Then, as he was going to address the audience, he took my hands in his. "Great people of Vampriona, I have failed to fulfill my duties as a father and as a husband for many years..." But now is the time to show you all my dearest daughter, the human I loved, the same one you had rejected, gave birth to her. " "Is she human, my lord?" A strange voice from the crowd inquired. I wondered as I saw a lady who spoke from the crowd, dressed in a magnificent black gown with perfectly straight hair. She was stunning. Her gaze was locked on me. "Yes, she is human, but she has my blood," The rest of the audience said "We won't allow a dirty human to govern us, my king," I heard. "She may have your blood, but she is weak, just like every human, and she can't protect us." I raised my head to look at my father; his hands were still holding mine, but I could sense his rage. I reached out and touched his shoulder with my other hand; he glanced at me, and I gave him a reassuring look that I was fine. "I realize this news will shatter your hearts," my father replied sternly, "but you must remember the prophecy." I was frightened since I had no idea what would happen next. After hearing what Luca had said, everything fell silent. " At that point, I dismissed you all; I had hoped you'd be sensible despite what we'd gone through." I used to think there was a difference, but now I know that there isn't a difference... "Laura will be the next in line after me, and no one, not even Serena, will be able to persuade me otherwise." With that said, my father continued to take my hand and led me out of the hall room without looking back.
