I start sniffing around the shoreline. Maybe if I smell something or someone, I can trace it to the entrance. I have to hurry and find something before the boys notice I am gone.
I pick up the scent of pine. Jace. This whole place smells like him. Again, I feel the guilt. Maybe I should let him know that I am here. I try to shake off that thought as I continue looking around.
I can see some footprints along the shoreline. I look back around me. Good, I am not leaving any prints behind. I don’t want anyone to find me right now.
I pick up the scent of roses. Roses don’t grow in the sand. Could this be a clue? I follow the scent. I find a patch of undisturbed sand next to a large rock. The scent of roses is pretty strong here. I get closer to the rock.
