She smiled as Deja leaned its head towards her, asking to be loved. Eliza always had a soft spot on that mystical creature. Since the day she found it to be exact. Deja was always with her, no matter where she goes, Deja faithfully follows her.
"You know, I haven't seen anyone with that as a pet" Arthur said, stepping away from the shadows. He has been watching her since the moment she stepped into the enchanting forest.
Something about her pulled him towards her. He knows that she is not his mate because his wolf didn't go all crazy as he had heard from people who had already found their fated ones.
But at the same time, his wolf wasn't entirely uninterested as well.
Deja let out a growl in warning while Eliza let out a startled squeal. Her eyes shot up to look at the man before her and they widened when she recognized him, "Oh my, your highness" She gasped, letting go of the Pheonix.
She quickly smoothed down her relatively simple dress that flows from the top to the bottom with a jewel neckline. She kneeled before the King and at the same time Deja let out a rude caw at Arthur, eyeing him as if he was a threat to its master.
Eliza squeezed her eyes shut in frustration, "Please do not mind Deja, it only wants to protect me" She said, hoping the King wouldn't take it to his heart and kill it in a blink of an eye.
Arthur smiled at how bold she is. No one dares to even talk in front of him and this young woman was protecting her pet."Is that so?" He asked, crossing his hands behind his back and taking a few steps closer to her.
Deja released a menacing snarl at him but he didn't even look in its way. His eyes were only on the red-haired beauty who was still kneeling down, "What are you doing out here at this time?" He asked her.
It was almost seven and in the evening. No one goes out during this time. Especially, not a she-wolf at that. There was no one around for miles. Only her and her pet can be found wandering in the forest.
She raised her head a little so she could look up at him, "I could ask you the same, your highness" She said, a daring smile curved at the corners of her lips.
Arthur snapped back to reality when he heard Deja release a frustrated caw at him. He sighed, he knew exactly what it wanted."You miss her too, right?" Arthur asked the creature.
Deja released another soft caw and Arthur smiled at it sadly, "I am sorry for not letting you meet her. You need to wait just a little longer. She doesn't know yet" He explained it to Pheonix.
Deja slumped a little. Arthur could understand its feelings but the best way to expose Deja to Elise is when she remembers one or two things from her past so she wouldn't be scared of it. "Just a little longer, Deja" He assured the bird, rubbing the back of its head, earning a purring noise from it.
Someone knocked on the door and Arthur granted them permission to walk in. He looked away from Deja and saw Brett, the gamma of the Royal pack striding towards him. The Gamma bowed in front of the King in respect and greeting.
Brett looked up at the King, "Your highness, Ms. White and her brother are in the Royal Warriors Academy now" He informed the King, "Shall we start with the lessons you have picked up for her?" He asked politely.
Arthur had specifically informed all the higher officials in the pack to notify him about everything when it comes to Elise. It might sound absurd but it was a precaution to protect the Luna Queen, really.
Arthur let go of the Pheonix and nodded his head at the Gamma, "Yes" He said, "I will be there to evaluate her myself" He added making Brett's eyes widen just a little.
"Very well, your highness" Brett said, bowing his head again to excuse himself.
Arthur cleared his throat, halting Brett's steps. The Gamma of the Royal pack turned around to look at his King, anticipating what the King would say to him.
"Brett, make sure no one treats her like an outsider," Arthur said in a calm and collected tone but the threat was there. Arthur would personally enjoy punishing anyone who dares to make her feel upset, "She might be a fox but she looks at the wolves as her family," He said, looking up at Brett again.
"Understood, Alpha," Brett said before walking away from there.
Deja croaked, knowing that Arthur is going to meet her again. The King smiled and petted its strong feathers softly, "I know that you know where I am going. I will let you meet her next time, I promise" He said, before stepping away and leaving the Phoenix alone in the room.
By the time Arthur made it to The Royal Warrior Academy with Murray by his side, Elise was already battling with a boy from his pack. Although Arthur's wolf was a little irritated by watching his mate fight with someone else, Arthur knew this was necessary.
Even Arthur wanted to rush to her and fight with that boy instead of her but he held. His fists were clenched as he watched her from far, his eyes calculating her stance and the way she defended and attacked.
For some reason, Arthur felt like Elise is more of an attack person. And he liked that. The way her eyes narrowed on her opponent in concentration impressed him. She looked fierce when she rolled her shoulders back and beckoned her opponent with a confident smile on her face. Simply put, she was a beauty, with brain and strength as well.
It looked like Elise would only need some minor brush-ups on her skills. Other than that, she is fit to become one of the Royal Warriors as well.
"I have to say, I am impressed with her skills your highness," Murray said, admiring the strong blows that the Luna was throwing at her opponent without even a drop of fear in her eyes, "Alpha Christian did a phenomenal job in training her" He mused, glancing at the King to see if he would agree with him or not.
Arthur nodded his head. He had to admit that her techniques were a tad bit different but that is her upper hand. Her opponent couldn't predict her, "Her reflexes are quick and her attacks are well planned and executed in a little amount of time" Arthur said, leaning forward to watch Elise throw one final punch at her opponent, "It is true then, foxes are faster than us" Arthur scoffed, looking up at Murray with an amused smile.
Murray grinned at the King, "Still, you are faster than anyone" He said, shaking his head but when the King didn't say anything, the smile on his lips faltered just a little, "Including her right?" He asked him, lowering his voice.
Murray has never seen anyone as fast as The Alpha King.
Arthur watched Elise again. She was wiping away the perspiration that had formed on her forehead with a small towel, "I am yet to find out about that, Murray" The King said.
Would it bother him if she is faster than him? Probably not. She would be the same person he fell in love with.
Murray let out a sharp breath, keeping his eyes forward, "Whatever it is" Murray said after a few moments of watching Elise, "She will be an amazing Luna Queen" He said with a confident nod.
Arthur smiled upon hearing that and gave him a nod in agreement. Elise would be the perfect Queen for his kingdom. She will rule by his side and her name shall be hailed as the Luna who not only comforts them but who protects them as well.
Elise and Ezra were done with their training so Arthur decided to go down to greet her for a bit. If she is willing then he will even ask her to join him for breakfast. He could ask a few trivial questions to her regarding her interests and passion so he would get to know her better.
When Arthur approached her, a warm smile lit up on her face and she bowed her head respectfully at the King, "Your highness" She said, looking up at the King with warm eyes. She was exceptionally feeling good today. Maybe the fact that everyone here is being nice to her made her feel comfortable and happy, "I didn't know you will be here" She added, her eyes flickering towards Murray and she gave him a bow of acknowledgment as well.
Arthur smiled at her, "I came to watch you fight" Arthur said, not beating around the bush.
Elise perked up at that. Did he watch her combat with one of the Royal Warriors? Elise's heart fluttered in excitement, "How did I do?" She asked him, wanting to know his thoughts on her skills. If she had impressed him then she can safely assume that she is a Royal Warrior material as well.
"Better than what I have expected," Arthur said making her glow, "Where is your brother?" The King asked, looking around to spot her brother. Arthur was so focused on his mate that he didn't give any attention to her brother.
"Oh Ezra went to the restroom for a bit," She said, pointing in the direction where he went off.
"Okay then, would you join me for breakfast?" Arthur asked her, watching her expectantly.
A few Royal Warriors watched as the King conversed with the Red-haired beauty in interest. This was their first time to witness the King speaking with a female for more than a minute. It was next to impossible to seduce the King as the King always stayed away from the she-wolves unless it was an important matter.
So they were naturally intrigued. The fact that the Gamma of the Royal pack had warned them to be nice with the fox added up to their suspicion. Is the King is really interested in a Fox?
Elise chuckled softly, "I would love to but only after I take a shower," She said, watching the King's eyebrows furrowing in confusion, "I am stinking, your highness" She pointed out with a shy smile. She was just done with her training for heaven's sake and so she was sweating.
"I don't mind," Arthur said in a heartbeat and Elise blinked up at him. Murray had to fight back his laughter but eventually, he stifled them like it was a cough.
Realizing what he had said, Arthur cleared his throat uncomfortably, "Anyways, I would be waiting at the dining area for you and your brother. Are you sure you two can find your way there?" He asked, looking everywhere but at Elise.
How can he say something like that?! He hoped she doesn't pin him as a p*****t.
"Yes, your highness" She bowed her head at him again.
"Okay, I will see you in thirty minutes then," He said before walking away from there.
Murray caught up to his King easily, "It is nice to see you smiling, your highness. Although sometimes you're completely intoxicated by her mere presence" Murray grinned playfully at the King.
"Well she is my mate after all," Arthur said in a vacant tone, "Make arrangements for Elise to look around the Royal pack. I want to take her on a ride around the Kingdom" He commanded at the Beta. Arthur wanted to bring her to nice places and buy her some gifts. He wanted to spoil her so bad.
"You're driving by yourself?" Murray asked him, eyeing the King warily. How long it has been since the King did that? The King always ride in his favourite car, the limousine whenever he has to go out of the castle. He claims that the limo makes him feel comfortable unlike the sporty cars people like these days.
Arthur stopped walking and turned to the side to look at Murray, "I didn't know that you were skeptical about my driving skills, Beta of the Betas" He said, narrowing his eyes at Murray. Did he not trust Arthur behind the wheels?
Of course, that was enough to make Murray instantly regret what he had asked, "No, my King" Murray said, shaking his head in frantic, "I didn't mean it that way. It is just you haven't gone on a drive-by yourself for a long time now' He rambled, hoping the King would understand whatever tumbled out from his mouth.
The King sighed, "I just want to spend time with her Murray" He admitted after a few seconds of silence making Murray's features soften a little. "Away from ears and eyes. It seems a drive would help me achieve that" He added, nodding his head to himself.
Just her and him in a compact space of the car. That sounded wonderful to even imagine it.
Murray nodded his head at the King in understanding, "What about her brother?" The Beta asked, raising both of his eyebrows in question. Who should look after that young lad?
A mischievous smile curved at the corners of the King's lips as he patted Murray's back lightly, "Well, I am leaving him to you of course" He said before resuming his steps.
Murray blinked. It took him a few seconds to digest what the King had said, "You're unbelievable" He muttered under his breath and jogged to keep up with the King as the King made his way to the dining area.
