Elliot started walking, and I was following him around along with the other two.
We stopped by the balcony and he stood there looking at the view outside.
“Um….what was she talking about back then?” I asked, feeling puzzled.
Ray and Zen exchanged glances and Elliot heaved a deep breath.
Then turned to me.
His face is all serious suddenly.
And it made me feel a bit nervous as well.
“Do you know why we bought you here and paid the huge amount of money your pack needed?” he asked.
“Uh…no.”
“Do you know who is Jennifer?”.
“Your sister?”.
“Our mate,” Ray interrupted, standing next to Elliot.
And the sudden news hit me like a knife.
Their mate?
“All three of our mates,” Elliot adds. “She was 21 when we found that out.”
“I was 20 then.”
“And I was 19,” Ray asserts with a laugh, and he seemed to look a bit nostalgic about it.
“I was 18,” Zen replied.
“S-she’s older than you?” I couldn’t help but ask.
Elliot nods. “Yeah.”
“We are childhood friends who have grown up together,” Ray said, adverting his gaze.
“But she had always been ill and sick, bedridden, never got to enjoy the outside world.”
“After we found out she was our mate she got diagnosed with a disease,” Elliot said, and sadness covered his face.
“What disease?”.
“It makes her ovaries non-functional, making it impossible for her to get pregnant, becoming infertile at that young age.”
It was truly a heartbreaking incident to happen to such a good person like her.
“3 years have passed since we became the Alphas, but as our Luna, she’s unable to produce an heir.”
“And everybody in our family knew this.”
“Ironically, the news had spread everywhere in our pack as well,” Ray adds with an angry expression.
“That’s why our parents were forcing us to find another fertile mate or else there won’t be anyone to carry our legacy forward.”
“The Crimson-Moon pack will end in our generation.”
And suddenly, everything that I heard since I came here was making all sense now.
“That’s where you come into play,” Elliot asserts, looking towards my direction.
“We want you to become a breeder for us, and carry the pups instead of Jennifer.”
I clenched my fists and lowered my gaze.
“But, why me? If you wanted you could find any other girl, then why-“.
“You are carrying the Alpha blood. Your father is an Alpha.”
“There is no better candidate than you. Your pack needed money, and we need you. Good deal if you ask me.”
Elliot’s voice rang in my head.
They want me to be a breeder. That’s why they brought me here.
No wonder….
“You are kind of being insensitive here,” Ray grunted, wrapping an arm around my shoulder.
“Don’t make it sound like a business deal, will you?”.
“It is what it is.” Elliot sighs. “She needs to understand what role she’ll be playing.”
“You need to carry our pups and after you become pregnant you’ll have to give your babies to us.”
“And your work will be done after that.”
“You can even go back to your pack or continue with your life here.”
“It’s for you to decide.”
I looked at him, and my mind went blank. Me, being pregnant and giving birth?
My first kiss was with Ray a few moments ago.
Being a mother….is a tough job, isn’t it?
“Um….”.
“Is there any way for me to deny it?” I asked.
“It is the only reason you are here in the first place. What do you mean by denying it?” Zen retorts with a blank face.
And it made me feel a bit guilty inside out.
This is what Jennifer meant by I’ll be able to make their dreams come true.
“This is your task, and you have to fulfill it,” Elliot stated, lifting my face by the chin. I was staring directly into his eyes.
“You understand?”.
I gulped, my throat went dry.
“I…I’m..”.
I couldn’t understand what to say to him. I’m not mentally prepared to face this situation at all.
Ray broke the silence with a cough.
“You know what Elliot?”.
“I think she’s struggling a bit. Give her some time, and she’ll decide to help us out of her own will.”
Elliot retreated his hand, giving a glance at him.
“You think so? I think she’s just looking for a chance to run away as her work is done.”
“She’s not like that!” Ray chuckled.
“Give her time.”
“Crystal,” he called, making me face him.
“I’m Ray, and make yourself welcome in this house.”
“Let’s go and find a room for you to stay in first. Then, you can make up your mind with some time, alright?”.
I nodded at him without thinking.
“I’m taking her with me then, bye.” Ray held onto my hand and started dragging me away from there.
One maid came up and showed us various rooms. After going through some rooms, I chose a medium-sized room as the other rooms were quite big for me to live on my own.
I was looking around things and stopped by the window looking at the beautiful garden.
Suddenly, my eyes spotted a room on the left which I could see from there very well.
It showed the window in Jennifer’s room. And you could see the entire room from there thoroughly.
She seemed to look a bit sad looking at the wall blankly.
Does she feel bad that she’s unable to give birth to the pups of her mate? Is this why she looks unhappy all the time?
I clenched onto the window sills tightly.
The only way to find it out is by talking with her directly.
I walked over to her room without letting anyone see me.
And knocked on the door.
“Come in.”
“Is this you, Ray?”.
“You finally decided to see me?”.
When I stepped inside and she saw me, she seemed shocked.
As if she wasn’t expecting to see me there.
“Crystal? What happened? Come here.”
I went over to her side and took a seat right next to her bed.
I stared down at my hands feeling nervous about how to start the conversation.
“Uh…um…I have something to talk about with you,” I stuttered.
“What is it?”.
“You can talk about anything with me.”
I raised my eyes, and replied, “Um…I heard about everything from them a while ago.”
“So…”.
“You did? Glad to hear that.”
“What do you think about it? Are you ready to be a mother?”.
The cheerful expression on her face made it hard for me to reject her.
“Uh…well…do you want to accept someone else’s babies and raise them as your own? Won’t you feel bad about it?” I blurted out loud.
It came as a shock to her.
Did I ask something I wasn't supposed to?
She heaved a sigh and smiled.
“My goodness.”
“It was quite an unexpected question from you that I expected.”
“But,” she stared down at her hands. “I’ll answer it for you.”
