Emilia held herself back against the wall, as she continued to walk forward towards the staircase that were at the farthest corner of the house, all the way back and away from the main entrance, from where she had already entered the penthouse around ten minutes ago. The moment she entered the penthouse it was packed with drunken, high and semi naked and some of them completely naked people. When she had agreed to Hannah’s invite to Igor’s party at his penthouse, she expected something more of a cocktail-y thing, which was also the reason why she was the only one wearing a white cocktail dress with a thigh high slit, that ended right above her knees, which definitely made her stand out. Since, every single person in the room was either naked, almost naked, wearing no shirts and revealing skimpy tops, while the rest wore biker leather jackets, making Emilia look like a professor in that crowd. “Hey sweet thing!” A man patted on her butt, making her jump up and rush rapidly towards the floating staircase that had a glass railing. Emili had a hard time climbing up the stairs as well, given the amount of flashy people who were making out and taking drugs in the middle of the staircase, that a reflecting infinity pool right in front of it. Jumping up on people’s bodies, Emilia finally made her way towards the upper story of the penthouse that was presumably a little less messy, as most of the people were gathered inside the bedroom, where she could only imagine if people were having orgies or not. Walking further ahead, she finally sighed in relief when she found the double wooden door resting right in front of it and punching in the code in the digital lock panel, that Hannah had texted her, Emilia finally entered inside, once the doors slid open and she fancied the way everything worked around the entire house. Getting inside, she was greeted by a wide corridor that had two doors on each side and a large window panel that ran all the way from floor to ceiling, out from which she could get a view of the entire city and its dwindling night lights. She took in a sharp breath, noticing how beautiful New York looked at night. She had been living in the city for the past three years and the most beauty she got to see of the night sky of New York was from the top of the Empire State building that also only once when her parents came to New York and her father paid for her ticket. Well, one perk of being friends with Hannah was paid off. Thinking of that person, she wondered where she could be, and at the same time she heard a loud shriek come in from the room on her left followed by a laughter and then Hannah’s voice softly spoke but it was clearly loud enough to be echoed out of the room. “Oh Igor, slow down…” she chuckled, as Emilia gagged hearing those words and realized that Hannah and Igor were down to what everyone else was doing at the party. “I can’t baby. You make me go crazy.” Igor grumbled loudly and then it was followed by a loud thudding voice, with continuous moans coming from Hannah, which made Emilia take a step away from the room and in need of shelter, she entered inside the other room, not knowing what it could have been but was completely stunned to find out that it was actually Igor’s office. A computer was placed on a mahogany desk placed by the corner of the room, right by the panel windows and Emilia’s curiosity won, which made her walk towards the computer and much to her surprise, it was all open. Of course Igor would leave the computer open because only he and Hannah had the code to the separate rooms of the penthouse – well Hannah had given it to Emilia, expecting her to join a bit late but Emilia was there earlier and Igor was definitely busy, having no idea that leaving his computer on and open could be dangerous in any ways. Emilia couldn’t believe it herself. Things were actually falling quite nicely and easily for her. Looking at the door of the office room, Emilia made sure to not to let anyone know that she was in there. She checked for any cameras around the room and luckily there weren’t any. She closed the Google homepage on the computer screen and went in to the files, looking for anything that could seem to be suspicious. She was quite surprised, to see that Igor’s computer screen was very well organized and there weren’t any files placed on his desktop, which could mean that there might not be anything important on the computer but at the same time, Emilia considered it as a metaphor towards the fact that Igor was a completely different person on the outside, one that didn’t seem much dangerous but on the inside, Emilia was very well aware of his wrong doings. Scanning through the computer, Emilia finally clicked on a file that had three different folders in it; titled Deal 1, Deal 2 and Deal 3. The first two were empty but the third one opened up with another hundred folders in it. Emilia clicked randomly on the first one and gasped, as she saw a file of excel sheets, opening up one, she saw the records of different deals and auctions, with keen and elaborate details of women and children that were sold in an auction in Atlanta, with the name of those who participated in that auction alongside with who paid how much for whom and Emilia was stunned to find the names of some of the biggest elitest of the country in that list. Emilia realized that they were all records of different deals and auctions that Igor must have conducted in America. She then went through a number of other folder and found out pictures of different, celebrities, politicians and big businessmen of the country, who were all parts of different auctions, in whicg underaged women were being sold and their were videos of those old bastards, buying those women, as if they were artifacts with no air to breathe and were clearly enjoying being a part of that absurdity. Igor was also part of those videos and Emilia couldn’t handle looking at those pictures without taking any action. Looking at the door and noticing that no one was still there and from the sound of it, Hannah and Igor were still making love, which gave Emilia to do what she had planned upon, when she made her way towards the penthouse. Taking out a USB flash drive out of her bra, she stuck it in to the computer and began transferring files from the computer to her flash drive. The files were quite bit much and too heavy to be shifted at once. Once Emilia had sent the command of the transfer, she realized that the transfer was going to take at least ten minutes and from how rapid Hannah and Igor’s loud breaths had become, she doubted if the two could last for the next ten minutes, which made her anxious, wondering if she would be able to pull the job off without getting caught. Inside the small sitting room, on the red plush couch laid Hannah with Igor falling on top of her and the two trying to catch a hold of their breath. “Gosh! That was amazing.” Igor huffed and got up, putting his clothes on and Hannah also pulled her leather tube dress up and down at the same time, grabbing her panties and putting them on. “What time it is? I lost track of it! Emilia was supposed to be here.” She told Igor and rushed out of the room, with Igor following behind her. “You called her up?” he asked, slightly frightened that he had left his computer open and Hannah had called her new friend up. “Yeah! And she must be here and…” Just as Hannah opened up the door and walked out, she found Emilia walking in to her direction but she paused looking at Hannah. “Oh hi!” she smiled at the two, as Igor walked out of the room but ignored Emilia, dashing in to his office, to see if something had happened to his computer. “Did you just get here?” Hannah asked and Emilia nodded. “Great! Perfect timing.” She jutted in excitement and sprinted back inside the room, grabbing an expensive bottle of liquor with two flute glasses. “We need to go upstairs to the roof.” She told Emilia, taking her wrist and dragging her out of the private unit of the penthouse. As Emilia followed Hannah, on her way out, her eyes darted towards Igor, who sat searching for something on his computer but Emilia only smirked that he wouldn’t find anything disturbed or suspicious, since she didn’t leave a single trace behind and her files had transferred only four files that were important evidences for her, enough to create a strong case against Igor. As she walked out of the private unit and down the hallways, she realized that the crowd in the upper story of the penthouse has also dramatically increased, as many people stood dancing and talking in the hallways, all scrammed up together, in either groups of two or more people. Passing through one such group, her eyes fell on a tall and broad figure but she didn’t paid much attention to it and walked up towards the staircase with Hannah still holding her hand but suddenly her heartbeat dropped as she realized that the man that she had walked past by was actually Henry. She immediately freed her wrist from Hannah and dashed back towards the group that she suspected Henry to be a part of and rushed towards the tall guy in dark blue jeans and the brown leather jacket. Grabbing his shoulder, she turned him around but felt surprised to see that he was not Henry but someone that matched his physique and height. “What?” the guy shrugged Emilia’s touch off him and she also took a step back, realizing that she must have come off as a very weird person to everyone around her, watching her with confusion. “Sorry.” She mumbled lowly and walked back up to Hannah, who gave her a questioning look. “I thought, I saw someone I knew.” She lied right away and then Hannah walked her up towards the roof of the tower and brought her to the very edge of the building, popping the champagne open and pouring two glasses out. “To our friendship.” She chimed, clinking her glass with Emilia’s. “I am so glad, that I finally found a great friend in this shitty city.” She sighed, taking a sip of her bubbly and Emilia also took a small gulp, making sure to remain only one glass for the rest of the night. “I have spent sixteen years in this stupid city and can you believe, I never found even a single loyal friend or even someone that I would ever want to call a friend and even when you saved my life, I was doubting you. I mean, I am just so paranoid. But I am incredibly happy that I finally found a perfect person to call my friend. I always had this competition with everyone that I knew but not with you. With you, I always feel safe and I kind of feel obligated that I need to guide you and help you and that’s why, I would like for you to apply for this opening at The Newsweek.” “Oh my god Newsweek?” Emilia’s eyes bulged out, listening the name of a fancy research network. “Yes! They are looking for a new research associate and I would like for you to take up the job. Don’t worry, I know the head of the research department and he will take you up there.” She winked, making a huge smile appear on Emilia’s face. “Why don’t we make an early toast? To your new job?” Hannah suggested and Emilia chimed in, drinking along with her. She had finally started realizing why everyone told her that she needed to be friends with the big guns in order to make it big. Her first few days of knowing Hannah and she was already down to a new job opening. But her friendship with Hannah was no big coincidence, it was for a reason a big reason that walked up to the roof and appeared to stand next to Hannah. Igor Konstantin! And Emilia just couldn’t hand over the evidence that she had found against Igor to Jason or any other authorities. She needed to help and protect Hannah first, just like she was looking out for Emilia. That’s why even when Jason called Emilia that night, to ask her if she had gotten something on Igor so far, she lied right away. Sitting in her small studio apartment, where her bed was only a few feet away from the kitchen that had a small bathroom right next to it, Emilia looked at the footage of Igor and all those other immoral, cruel and unscrupulous people who took advantage of the misery of those poor girls, who were trafficked in to being sold. Emilia’s heart no matter how much selfish it was, just couldn’t take it. She needed to get Igor caught and help Hannah at the same time. Maybe she didn’t know what Igor really was up to and who he really was. She seemed like a nice and clean woman to Emilia and that’s why she was going to help her run away from Igor and leave no space for that wretched man to come after Hannah as well. Emilia formulated a full proof plan, that would be her win and completely win situation. Taking the evidence that she had found on Igor, Emilia timed an email to Jason, which would be sent to him by around eleven PM, the next day, right after the finale of the beauty pageant, where Emilia would tell Hannah everything and help her get rid of Igor at the same time. ----------------------------- Do you think Emilia's plan is full proof?
