The taxi in which Emilia rode, finally came to a halt when the car that it was following also stopped in front of a club.
The club named, ‘Midnight’, was not as usually crowded as Emilia remembered it to be, the last time she visited it on a weekend.
Since it was a weekday, the club only saw a few people going in and coming out of it.
She paid the cab driver and got out of the car, keeping her close distance from Hannah, who handed her car over to the valet and made her way towards the VIP entrance, skipping the bouncers and walking straight in.
Emilia kept it in mind that either Hannah was a regular at the club or the club was simply owned by Igor, if she was meeting up with the man.
She held her breath in and entered inside the club, passing through the bouncer, smiling at him shyly and getting inside.
The VIP entrance right next to her, was separated from the regular entrance with red velvet ropes that kept the place for the rich ones sacred.
But luckily for Emilia the VIP section, was on the first floor that was like a balcony section, where all the booth were visible from the bottom floor.
To Emilia it was evident that the VIP section was made so, in order to rub it in to the faces of the broke ones who couldn’t even afford a martini up in the VIP section that also had a completely different and separate menu.
Emilia looked down the bottom of the staircase that led up towards the VIP section. The bottom was protected by two bulgy and buffed up bouncers, who gave her a stern look, noticing her eyes on the staircase and warning her to stir away from it, unless and until she didn’t have the resources to even step anywhere near those velvet ropes.
Emilia decided to walk up towards the bar and took her coat off, making sure to sit up right in her pencil skirt that ended right above her knees and her silky light turquoise blouse that was sent to her by Henry. She made sure to wear that blouse, in order to fit in to the place that was actually quite calm and elegant, compared to the other trashy clubs that were packed with drunken and sweaty dolts.
Ordering a drink for herself, she sat by the bar, keeping her eyes intact at the booth in which Hannah was.
She sat alone for a while and Emilia began wondering if Hannah was not even there to meet Igor and perhaps for a meeting with someone else.
Just as Emilia had began second questioning the situation, the door to the VIP section opened once again and a rush of guards walked in, circling Igor, who wore a leather jacket, looking ablaze, as he walked up towards the VIP section and seeing him approaching, Hannah stood up from her seat.
“Okay, could be a business meeting.”
Emilia told herself, keeping a close eye on the two and soon her eyes widened as the first thing Hannah did was take her coat off and flash Igor with the red hot leather tube dress that she wore and running in to his arm, Hannah clasped her arms around his neck and as Igor’s guards dispersed around, Hannah and him engaged in a heated make out session, not caring even if the world saw the two or not.
Emilia spun a gaze around the VIP section and realized that it was entire empty which made her realize that Igor must have booked it for him and Hannah, as he laid back on the round couch and Hannah jumped on top of him, kissing him quite wistfully and energetically.
“Well, not a business meeting for sure.”
She sighed, realizing that Hannah was indeed Igor’s girlfriend or mistress or whatever but she was involved sexually and romantically with a Russian mafia boss and if that news was to get out, the only one place that gave Emilia a shot at practicing, even though quite second rated, but that place’s reputation could be deeply hurt if Hannah’s involvement with Igor was to get out.
Emilia looked away, not wanting to be a p*****t and watch Igor and Hannah make out so grossly at a public place.
Once the two were done eating each other’s tongue, they sat straight up and ordered a waiter to get their drinks.
Emilia kept a close eyes on the two, who couldn’t take their hands off each other.
She noticed how Igor’s arms were resting to Hannah’s shoulder, pulling her closer and at the same time Hannah was quite very playful, giggle-ish and certainly more open to him, as she talked to him with all her heart and also listened to him. It only told Emilia that Hannah was surely in love with Igor, since she was nothing of the sort that she was currently acting like.
At the office, she was reserved, very serious and quite certainly very self centered as well. She didn’t talk to anyone and kept most of her private business to herself.
Well – Emilia could not finally tell why Hannah was reserved.
The woman had a very deep and dark secret, if would come out, could ruin her entire reputation.
Emilia turned away from Hannah and Igor, not wanting to think much about forbidden love, since she was almost on the verge of falling for her magazine’s owner, a playboy and a flirt, whose gesture had left Emilia quite confused about her feelings.
She couldn’t stop thinking about him, ever since the two had that little incident in that elevator.
She knew it was wrong of her, but when she fell on top of him with her shirt open and her chest touching his, the first thing that concerned her mind was seeing that man’s beautiful plum and rosy lips.
He was a very attractive man and Emilia hated herself for being too strongly attracted to that man.
Her mind was clouded with that man’s thoughts and every now and then, she ended up imagining him in certain place.
Just like that morning, in the break room, when she was making her coffee, she couldn’t help but imagine him in that room, thinking if the two would have a similar mishap again.
She looked up at the reflecting wall in front of her, that was behind the bar counter and felt shocked, finding Henry to be standing right behind her.
Emilia’s eyes bulged out of her sockets as she saw Henry behind her and she immediately turned away, wondering if she was seeing things right but as soon as she had spun around the man vanished.
She shook her head a bit, seeing that no one but only a few people had gathered at the dance floor in front of her and no one stood there.
She heaved a breath, turning towards the empty glass of her mojito and slumping her head against the bar counter. She couldn’t believe that she had began day dreaming of Henry and started seeing him and having his hallucinations after having just a single drink.
She needed a doctor.
She shook her head and turned back towards the VIP section, where she found Hannah and Igor sitting in one another arms, being extremely happy and completely in love.
She frowned in agony. If she was being honest than she was a bit jealous and envious of the woman.
She had a great job, a successful career and even was seemingly in love.
She was living a life that Emilia dreamed of, subtracting the part where she dated a Russian cartel boss and instead, she just wanted a normal guy to date.
Emilia realized that she was doing a wrong thing but tracking Hannah and even though she was wrong, Emilia had not right, stalking the woman for the sake of a news that Emilia wasn’t even sure would lead her somewhere.
She called for a check and grabbed her coat, ready to leave but paused when she saw the waiter who had just taken Hannah’s order carry a drink on a tray in his hands, which looked like some sort of expensive martini and Emilia was instantly alarmed.
She was well aware of the rules of the club.
The VIP section had a separate bar and the specialty drinks were prepared in that bar.
She watched as the waiter entered inside the kitchen behind the serving bar of the ground floor where she was sitting and something seemed off to her, which made her place her coat back on the stool and tip toed her way towards the kitchen s***h storage room, where passing through the reflecting door, once she made sure that the only bartender who served at the bar next to the door was busy preparing drinks.
Once she entered inside, she saw a bund of cooks on her left, preparing up some food, which made her hide and take refuge behind a steel utensils shelf, which was movable.
So gently moving it ahead, she looked through the slits of the shelf, trying her best to see through the stacked up trays and pots and locate the waiter who walked inside.
Once she reached the far corner of the kitchen, she saw the waiter exiting through the back door and Emilia also followed him out, keeping a distance between her and the man, who was watching his back every now and then and making sure that nobody was following him.
He looked quite young and stoic, as he very carefully made his way forward by the end of the alley and Emilia found a large garbage bin, behind which she hid herself.
Walking towards the other end of the garbage bin, Emilia stuck her head out, looking for the man and she finally spotted him standing at the end of the alley, from where another narrow and quiet alley began, leading down to the other street.
But the man was not moving any further in to the quiet alley and instead stood by the end of the one in which Emilia still was. She remained uncertain that something was about to happen and much to her anticipation, the man held the drink in his hands, as he extended the drink in his hands forward and a hand from behind the alley, extended forward and Emilia held a gasp within her mouth, as she realized that someone was standing behind a building at the other side of the alley, his face and rest of the figure hidden behind the building and the hand that was leaning forward had nothing of the particular, with no tattoo or ring in the fingers or a bracelet that Emilia could keep as a reminder of the man.
She watched as the hand dropped a pill inside the martini that dispersed right in to the drink and the hand moved back, only to move forward at once and give a orange envelope, what seemed full of cash to the waiter, who took it and shoved it inside his waistcoat and turned back towards the bar.
Emilia immediately herself behind the garbage bin and once the waiter entered the bar and she looked back at the end of the alleyway, once noticing that no one was following her, she jumped back inside the bar and followed the waiter, who walked out and she rushed after him, watching as he placed another drink in the tray and carried the drinks in his hands, up the staircase towards the VIP section.
Watching him walk up the stairs, being the waiter who took the order of Igor and Hannah, the only two people in the entire VIP area, made Emilia realize that the man was going to give one of the spiked drinks to Igor and Hannah, which would lead up to the death of at least one of the two.
She didn’t have much times to think and she needed to work at her instincts, before it was too late.
She rushed towards the VIP section but the two large bouncers immediately stepped ahead, blocking her way.
“You get go up there.” One of the two spoke in a coarse tone.
“I have to. The two people up there, I know them, their lives are in danger and…”
“Listen Miss, nothing you say is going to work just for you to get up there. We have listened to more absurd things than this.” He scoffed, looking at his partner, thinking Emilia to be another one of the drunken girls, who tried to get to the VIP area but Emilia didn’t have the time to listen to their absurd allegations and assumptions, while Hannah’s life was in danger in real time.
She left the spot by the staircase and rushed towards the bottom of the balcony, right above where Hannah and Igor were.
She took in a deep breath, considering her options and still thinking a second before taking the rash decision that she was about to.
She watched as the waiter served Hannah and Igor their drinks and the martini that the waiter had just had someone else spike, in the back of the alley, was picked up by Hannah and the waiter stood watching keenly, feeling a bit anxious and excited as Hannah held the glass up, bringing it closer to her mouth.
It was too late, Emilia had no other option but to scream on top of her lungs, since the music died a little and she grabbed everyone’s attention.
“Hannah! Do not drink it, your drink is spiked!”
