"Let me see him." Uther demanded the moment the doors to his father's inner chambers opened. He did not appreciate that the few guards posted on the doors tried to stop him. The horror on their faces however, was enough to know that it was his father's orders. As the men were torn between obeying the king or risking upsetting their crown prince. He squinted his eyes trying to find his bearing in the large room. The atmosphere inside was just as dull as the poor lighting. All the windows and doors had been closed, with the thick curtains drawn over them making the large room feel like it was meant to conceal everything that would happen here. The king lay on his bed while his mother and Britha stood by his side. It was an odd sight for Uther as he had never seen his father in his bed
