Chapter four

1784 Words
"Congratulations! You are pregnant," she says with a sly smile on her face. "What! No, I am not; I can't be," she panicked. Or can she? "But you are; this strip here proves it," she says, waving the white thing with two red lines in the middle. "You see these two lines, right?" she pointed at them. She nodded her head, not sure what to do anymore. "Well, these two pretties say that you are. Pregnant," she punctuated each sentence by pointing at her extremely flat stomach. "It means that you are carrying a human being inside your tummy for the next nine months," she adds. Lily placed her hand on her extremely flat tummy. She is not sure just how a human being can be inside of it. The woman must be mistaken; that must be it. "You know what happens when a man and a woman are alone together, don't you? So here's your result," she adds. She is already feeling her victory set up. "And this guy over there, as she pointed out, is the father," she says. Lily looked at the picture she was pointing at and couldn't help but feel like what she was saying was true. Lily did everything but scream. No! He is not the father, or could he be? But how?. She doesn't even know what to think anymore. The next thing she knows, she is out—totally out. ##### A few hours later, Aunt Adora did nothing but sit there and stare at the unconscious girl. She just couldn't believe her luck today. She was hoping that she could try to fool the girl halfway, but by the looks of it, everything had reached its goal. The girl even believes that she is pregnant. "What a fool!" She thought. How can a person get pregnant just by touching you? The go is really clueless, it seems. She got up from her chair and decided to go out of the room. It is actually Mac's room. This will prove to his father that they were actually messing around, and the guy is not even here to deny it as he is still knocked out. Today is really her day, it seems. ##### Lily opened her eyes and tried to adjust to the light that was blinding her. Her eyes fell on the ceiling, and she didn't recognize it. She tried to get up but heard a voice beside her. "Easy there; you shouldn't get up so quickly," the woman's voice said softly. She looked up at her, and she instantly recognized her. She was the woman who brought her to a room earlier—this room that she was in precisely. She looked to her side and saw another man standing. He looked just like the guy she helped out earlier, but only older. His face looked a little bit stressed out as well, and if she wasn't mistaken, he seemed to be frowning as well. But what is he angry about? "How are you feeling now?" He finally decides to speak up. She just nodded at him, not knowing what exactly to say. He got away from the wall he was leaning on and started heading for the door. "If you are stabilized, I think there is something we need to discuss," he says. "Sure, she'll be okay in no time," the woman says. The old man walked out of the room. "Now, you should get up gently; you are pregnant, and you shouldn't stress yourself," she says. For a minute there, Lily had actually forgotten the reason why she was there. "But... I'm not," she says. Or is she? "We have already gotten over this; what is done has been done, and now you have to face the consequences," she says. She just lay there, speechless. Aunt Adora couldn't help but suppress a laugh. This is just going so well. After about thirty minutes, she helped Lily up, and they walked out of the bedroom and back to the living room. Lily could have feasted her eyes once again, but seeing all the frowning faces, she abandoned her mission and went ahead to sit on one of the huge couches. Aunt Adora went over and sat beside Mac's father. She looked up, and her eyes met with his. He definitely looks more presentable now that he's sober. He had changed into another pair of jeans and a black polo T-shirt. He is also wondering what on earth is going on here and why he was called here. For all that he could remember, he hadn't caused any trouble lately, as he had only been drinking at home. And then his eyes fell on the new girl. Who is she? And what is she doing here? He asks himself. This is supposed to be a family matter, so why was the maid called here? She definitely looked like a midget, even though he hadn't seen her around. She must be new. "What could a maid be doing here, father, and why am I summoned this late in the evening?" He couldn't help but ask. His father, who was on the verge of exploding, glared at him. This boy must think that he is stupid, right? He thinks he can do things and get away with them, but not this time. He is tired of apologizing to his parents and bailing him out of jail. This time, he has to face the consequences of his actions. "I should be the one asking you that question, Mister, and the last time I checked, she didn't happen to be one of our maids, so stop fooling around because no one is falling for your tricks this time," his father thunders. Mac was so confused. What exactly is happening here? He hasn't done anything wrong, so why is his father so paranoid? They had made a deal, and as far as he knows, he is holding his end of the bargain. "What is going on, father?" he asks. If this is a serious issue, they might as well go on with it; he has a splitting headache as it is. His father gave him another look, and for a minute there, he thought he saw fire in his eyes. The old man took a deep breath. "Since you are busy beating around the bush yet again, well, let me be clear," he said. Now when was he beating around the bush? Mac thought. His father pointed at the terrified maid. Cross that; she is not a maid. Well, then, who's she? "This girl here is carrying your child, and this time around, I have concrete evidence," his father says. "What!?" Mac couldn't help but shout, making Lily flinch in the process. He looked over at her, trying to remember any memory of them together, but none came. Absolutely none. "Listen here, miss. I have never met you in my life, so how exactly can I get you pregnant?" I asked her. "Stop with all your lies; if you think I'll believe you, then you have another thing coming," his father said. "But father, I'm telling the truth," Mac insists. "I would have believed you before, but now, save all this for someone else, and as I have told you, whatever mistake you make this time, you will be made to face the consequences, and so, I've made a decision that you will have to marry this girl and take responsibility for her child," his father says. "What! No, father, you can't do this to me. I am telling you the truth. I haven't done anything this time. Trust me." Mac just couldn't help but panic. Aunt Adora was just sitting there, enjoying all that was going on. She couldn't help but suppress a laugh at Mac's helplessness. "YOU!" he thunders, turning to the girl, and she flinches, causing her to hit her head on the nearby couch. "You better tell them the truth, or I'll kill you," he threatened. But Lily herself didn't know the truth, so how could she tell them? "Enough," his father says, stopping him. "So you are trying to scare her off right in front of us and get her to do your bidding? Well, I'll show you that what I'm saying is true, and then maybe you can shut up already," his father said. "Where is the phone?" he asked Aunt Adora. "Oh! Yes, phone," she says. She hands him her phone. Her nieces have already sent the video, which they have already edited and photo-shopped. "Here, have a look at it yourself," he shows him. Mac snatched the phone away from him. And there they were, with her on top of him, and they seemed to be kissing each other. He doesn't remember doing this. And from the looks of it, it happened today. Yes, he might have kissed her, as this video implies, but that is not enough to make her pregnant now, is it? "I can't believe this," he mutters. This is utterly not to be tolerated. "Well, you better believe it," his father snarled at him. The old man seemed rather angry. "But Dad, I swear to you, I have never seen this girl." "Enough with your nonsense," he says. "And you," he said, turning to her. Lily, who was sitting there, terrified of all that was going on, was flinched by her father's action. "You look so young to be making a mess of your life like this; what do you think you are going to say to your family now?" he asks her. Her family—yes, her family. What was she supposed to tell them? "You seemed like a decent enough person to me, but then these days, you can't judge a book by its cover," he says. Lily couldn't make a head or tail of what he was busy blabbering about, as she was busy trying to find the answer to what she was going to tell her father for not arriving early. Maybe the burial is even done. "And so, I have made a decision, and both of you should listen carefully," he continued. This was enough to draw Lily's attention. Mac was also on his toes after hearing this. He knows he is in deep sh*t now; nobody can save him. Why did he have to knock himself out today? Otherwise, all this wouldn't have happened, would it? He threw a hurtful look at the stupid girl who was sitting there, looking all innocent. He is sure that somebody must have paid her off to frame him, and he would surely find out who. "I'm going to get the two of you married."
