Going on a date with someone you like is exciting and terrifying. I mean, this is my first time and i don't know what to expect. Are we going to the movie? Play in a gaming center or eat somewhere else? And all those typical things to do on a date.
But you know what is my main problem right now? That is the dress i was going to wear. Should i still put my glasses on and bangs or what? I sat down on my bed in defeat. It's already six in the evening but I still can't find a perfect outfit to wear. I couldn't believe that this is hard. Actually, I have plenty of designer clothes but why can't I chose anything? Agh. Girl problems.
I felt my phone vibrated. A text message from Cameron, telling me that she will pick me up at 7:30. Practically, I only have one hour and a half to fix myself.
"Lily.." Mother's voice is calling me outside my door. "Can we talk?" Without any second thought i walked at towards the door and opened it. Mother entered inside my room and quickly noticed the dresses on my bed. "Oh are you going out?"
I closed the door first before answering. "Ah yes mom with.." Mother turned to look at me over her shoulder. "Cameron."
"A date?" Mother asked with a raised eyebrow. I stayed quiet and she took my silence as a yes. Mother picked up one of my dresses and scanned every details. "This is fit for you Lily. Simple but elegant." A smile perked at the corner her lips. "You don't have to wear fancy things just to be beautiful because you already are."
I felt my face blush. I'm still shy when my mom praises me because I'm nothing compared to her. "Okay that's what I'm going to wear."
"A little make up and fix your hair then you will be good." Mother added with a satisfying look. Wow. She really knew what I needed. "Come here i will help you."
I sat down with with a smile on my face and stared at mother through the mirror in front of me. She is now fixing my hair. "Mom, what were you wanting to talk to me about?"
"Oh thank you for reminding me Lily." She grabbed an iron for the hair and turned it on. "I talked to Nike."
The name of Nike makes me feel excited, not in romantic or whatsoever. "What about her mom?"
"You have an appointment with Nike tomorrow Lily." Mother replied. She stopped working on my hair as our eyes met through the mirror. "But you have school—"
"I will meet her tomorrow." I snapped. "This is a once in a life time opportunity mom. It's Nike. She is a superstar and everyone wants to work with her."
"So that means you will enter the world of showbiz too? The world that you were trying to avoid these past few days. Showbiz has many issues Lily, there's drama everywhere, envy and competition."
I took a deep and long breath. "Mom.."
Mother shrugged. "I was only reminding you Lily. Entering showbiz is like going to a battle."
Mother has been part of both modelling and showbiz industry for so many years now that's why she wanted to remind me what I'm getting myself into. What are the consequences and repercussion if i finally decided to pursue my dreams in showbiz.
But you know sometimes we have to step up and explore the world. Besides, I have been taken down so many offer and guess this is the right time to do what i really wanted to do since it's only two months left in High School.
"I'm ready for anything mom." I told my mother with all the sincerity in the world. "Just please trust me."
Mother got quiet and contemplated for awhile but she continued doing my hair. "Paparazzi were everywhere, they will follow you wherever you go and probably..." She stopped and i saw her jaw hardened while looking at me. "Are you ready to come out as lesbian though?"
The question caught me off guard. I didn't expect that question and I completely forgot about my s****l orientation. For me, I really don't mind telling the world about myself, of being lesbian as long as it's worth it.
"You always told me to be true and honest mom." I started off while we are staring at each other through the mirror. "Being honest will make everything easier, to be true is the safest thing to avoid pain. So yeah, I will tell them if they ask I don't really mind."
A smile slowly spread across my mother's face. She looks so dam proud for whatever reason. "Okay Lily. I trust you with this."
As much as i wanted to give mom a hug, i can't because the iron might hurt me. "Thank you mom." So i stay still with a huge smile on my face. "I won't disappoint you and father."
"Better be Elizabeth." Mom breath out. "We took care of you for a very long time and I do not want people to hurt you just by going to showbiz."
"Yes mom." I agreed. "Don't worry i have a gay shield." We both laughed at my lame joke. "I'm going to be 18 next week so..."
Mother placed her hands on my shoulder as she stood behind me. "It means you can move out."
My mouth dropped. "Wh-what?" I felt horrified. "Oh gosh. You don't want me to live here anymore? But I don't have money..."
"You can live with us as long as you want but you still have to follow the rules." Mom said with a squeeze on my shoulders gently. "We will give you everything you need Lily until you can finally stand and fly on your own."
I stood and gave my mother a warm hug. "Thank you mom for everything."
It's my mother who helped me for my first date and she wouldn't stop teasing me about Cameron. Also, father wanted to talk to Cameron. For what reason? I don't know. Well, i just hope that he won't scare the poor girl.
And before 7:10 Cameron came with bouquet of red roses. She looks so damn beautiful with floral red dress showing long perfect legs and white blazer. I almost forgot how to breath by the sight of her. How can she even be more beautiful?
"Hi.." Cameron said while staring at me. "For you Lily." She handed me the flowers. "Roses for you."
No matter how i tried to contain the smile on my face but it was really difficult. I took the roses. "Thank you Cameron."
"Wait is that your date Lily?" The voice of my father and before we know it. He is already standing behind me. "You look lovely tonight Cameron."
"Thank you." Cameron said politely then shifted her attention back to me. Those green eyes were hypnotizing and it makes me feel naked. "But I'm nothing compared to your daughter."
She still found me beautiful despite of my bangs and glasses. Soon, I will take it off.
"Mm. Sweet." Father smirked. "Anyway, be careful with Lily. I want you to take her home before 9—"
"Dad, I'm not a child." I stressed out.
"I promise to take Lily home at 10 Mr. Andersen. No more no less." Cameron exclaimed.
Father looked defeated. Two versus one is never fair. "Fine at 10." Then he took out his wallet and handed me money. "Take this Lily. Just in case you ladies need it."
I took the money. "Thank you dad. Where is mom?"
"She is talking with Nike." Father answered and embraced me tightly. "Enjoy the night okay."
"Yes dad." I said and looked around the house for mother but she is nowhere to be seen. "Bye dad." Cameron offer me her hand as i gradly took it with the flowers in my arm. "Love you guys!"
We entered inside her car and drove off. I didn't ask her if where are we going since Cameron is quiet the whole ride as if she is thinking hard.
"Lily.." Finally Cameron speaks up.
I turned to looked at her. "Yeah?"
"Let me just say that.." She paused for awhile then smile. "You are so beautiful tonight Lily." I could hear the sincerity in her voice. "When I saw you I felt so speechless."
"So are you Cameron.." I told her with a smile. The smile that didn't leave my face the whole time as talked about some silly things. I wholeheartedly laugh at our lame jokes until we arrived to our destination.
My mouth dropped while staring outside the car. "Wow.." I can't believe what I was seeing right now. "So beautiful.."
"Let's go." Cameron said cheerfully as we both got out of the car. The sight of the captivating beauty of the white sand and beach mesmerized me. I didn't expect to see something beautiful like this here in the city. I felt Cameron's arm wrapped around my waist as she looked at me with the whole universe mirrored through her eyes. "Do you like it Lily?"
From the beach, I turned to the beautiful girl beside me. "Are you kidding me? Like? I love it Cameron. I like white sand and beaches."
The wind blew hard making my hair stumble across my face. Cameron brushed it off and to my surprise she slowly took off my glasses. "Even the spectacle couldn't hide the trully beauty in front of me." My face turned red as i narrowed my eyes down. "Come on Lily—Oh wait." Cameron walked behind me and put her hands over my eyes.
"Wh-what are you doing Cameron?" I asked really confused.
"Relax Lily." Cameron whispered against my ear making the hairs on my nape rise. "Just follow me." Since I couldn't do anything anymore, I just did what she told me. My feet is sinking in the sand while we are walking it feels like a tiny granuals of sugar being pressed against my skin. "Okay, are you ready?"
"Yeah I guess." I replied. I'm kind of nervous because because I did not know what Cameron would show me.
Cameron chuckled. "Don't worry they won't bite."
Now i felt scared. "You are kidding me right?" But Cameron didn't say anything as she slowly removed her hands from my face. Slowly, I opened my eyes and gasped when I saw candles scattered everywhere and a blanket in the sand with boxes of pizza, cola, fruits and chips etc. "Wow!"
Of course I was suprised. I never expect Cameron to be this so romantic because doing saffy stuffs is really out of her personality.
"I'm sorry Lily but this is what my power can only do." Cameron said a little unsured of what she did. "Actually this is the first that i have done this kind of..."
I turned to face Cameron with half frown and half amusement expression. "No Cameron. Don't be sorry okay. You did a really good job."
The lights coming from the moonlight and fire from the candles illuminates Cameron's immaculate beauty. She looks so damn perfect without even trying. "I'm glad you like this." She took my hand and brought it to her lips and kisses it. "Esta lista para nuestra cita princesa?"
A huge smile crept across my face. "Yo siempre estoy lista." We went towards the picnic blanket and sat down. Cameron turned on her phone for music before handed me food. We started eating while watching the moon dance on the water and wind rustled through the leaves. "It's very nice here, very relaxing."
Cameron swallowed the food first. "Indeed. I always come here if I want to relax, think properly or rest from all the dramas especially with Aerin."
"How are you and Aerin?" I don't know why i asked that question.
She drew silence and focused in the water with a deep frown written on her face. "I don't know." Cameron admitted. "But let's not talk about her right now because it's you and me time."
Well she has a point there. Cameron and I continued eating whioe talking about everything. She is very affectionate, bubbly and i found it really adorable. There was no dull moments between us. We decided to talk a walk in the seashore barefooted. Wet sand is nice, the dampness is cool on your our feet, tiny stones slips up in between my toes. The water rushes up past, then back down and out while we are standing still on the sand.
The wind is cold and it makes me shivers, the sky is dark but you can see the stars pulsing. I don't know why but i suddenly thought about Leslie and started to wonder what is she doing right now or what if Leslie wins the game, where she would take me?
Cameron grabbed a seashell on the sand and shake it. "Do you want to hear something Lily?"
"Mmm what it is?" I asked curiously. But instead of answering me, Cameron put the seashells against my right ear. "Oh my gosh." My mouth dropped. "I could hear the sound of the ocean inside!"
"Indeed." Cameron agreed as she grabbed another seashell. "There is a popular folk myth that if you holds a seashell to your ear, one can hear the sound of the ocean."
"Mmm. So beautiful and relaxing. It makes me want to sleep."
"No matter how far away from the ocean you are Lily." Cameron said and put it against her ear as she closed her eyes. "You can still hold a seashell up to your ear and hear the roar of the waves rolling onto the shore."
"I will bring this one home and will let my parents hear the ocean too." There was an excitement in my voice then i remember something important. "Oh Cameron.." The green eyes girl looked up at me and removed the seashells from her ear. "Next week is my 18th birthday. I'm personally inviting you and Grey to my party."
"Oh gosh, really?" Her eyes were wide. "Of course we will go there."
"I will expect you guys there." I told her.
"So what do you want for your birthday? Perfume? Clothes? Bags or.." Cameron stopped with a lopsided smirk. "A vibrator or dildo?"
"My parents will flip if you give me that." I laughed. "And you don't have to give anything Cameron, your presence is enough for me though."
"Ohh.." She sounded a little surprised of what i just said and completely speechless. "Don't worry i will be there." After a few moments she is back with her foxy and cocky attitude. "And give myself to you as a present." The air stuck inside my throat when she took few step forward and stood in front of me. "Is that good?"
This time i rolled my eyes before pushing her out of my way and run away, laughing like a psychopath. "You are so confident."
"Hey. I'm not done talking to you." Cameron screamed at me as she trailed behind me. "Come back here!"
I stuck my tongue out at her. "Catch me if you can!"
"Oh don't dare me Lily!" Cameron is just only few steps away from me. So i put more pressure on my legs since my feet are sinking in the sand. "I will make you pay!"
I'm almost at the picnic blanket when my knees suddenly shook and betrayed me. I fall with my face flat on the sand. Despite of pain, I still manage to slowly sits up and saw Cameron flying towards my direction. She straddled on my waist and pinned my hands over my head while looking down on me.
"Ca-meron.." I swallowed hard. "Wh-at are you doing?"
She crossed the remaining distance between us and stopped just half inch away from me. I could feel and smell her breath. My eyes grew wide and Cameron slammed her lips against mine making butterflies swarmed in my stomach. Her lips were really soft and tasted so sweet like an expensive champagne with raisins but to my dismay she quickly pulled away.
"That's my early birthday present Lily." Cameron breathed out.
