I helplessly collapsed on the floor in extreme exhaustion after nonstop running around the gymnasium for an hour. Jesus, this basketball practice is gonna be the death of me. Seriously, why do i have to do this? Sports are not my thing and never will be.
But then, this is a great way to divert my attention from those questions with no definite answers after my conversation with Cameron. That girl really confused my mind between truth and lies, plus that I dare you to love me lines from a movie. But what does she mean by that? Well, i honestly have no idea what she wants from someone like me but all i know is, i need to be careful around Cameron because the Queen Bee is probably watching like an eagle.
After a few second, Leslie exaggeratedly slumped down next to me as we were both breathing heavy and sweating hard like a waterfalls. "Oh sweet heaven." I heard her say between pants. "This is one hell of a torture!"
"I know right. Maybe this is Mr. Smith's way of punishing us." I joked with a shrug.
"Yeah, he will make us clean the whole campus later." Leslie supplied with a smile while wiping the excessive sweats off her forehead. "My body feels hot." I offered Leslie my water container and handed her a towel. "Wow, thank you. You are truly a girl's scout."
I could not help but laughed. "Mother always make sure i have extra towels just in case of any emergency."
"That is sweet." Leslie said without looking at me because she was busy cleaning herself. "My mom is always busy and does not really care about me." My head snapped at her, Leslie did not look upset but it seems like this kind of topic is unimportant to her. I do not know any single thing about Leslie and what she is going through in life to judge her. "Anyway, how was your weekend?"
"It was okay, we went to L.A." I replied timidly and stared at our classmates, some of them were laying down on the floor but most were sitting at the bench. "Leslie, I have something to tell you." My voice was full of uncertainty that made her look at me in confusion. "This is important and i honestly don't know how and where to start."
Leslie dropped the towel and focused her attention to me. "What is it? Is everything okay? Did Cameron or Aerin do something to you?"
Well yes, Aerin did something this morning but i honestly don't want to talk about it. It such a waste of my precious time and brain cells.
"I.. Ahh." I looked down my shoes.
"Lily.." Leslie breathed out in frustration. She is turning impatient because of curiousity. "Tell me what is it."
"My parents.." I pressed my lips together, trying not to show any emotions or else it will give me away. "Wants ah..." Leslie scratched her brows without breaking our eye contact. I just want to tease her. "Invite you for a dinner."
Well, It was really dad who wanted to meet my friends from school. I can only consider Leslie, Grey and Cameron as my friends but inviting the twins is not a good idea. What if they fight in front of my parents? Oh gosh, that would be really embarrassing.
"Jesus christ Lily." Leslie exhaled with her priceless facial expression that makes me laugh hysterically. "You scared the hell out of me! I thought you are going to say something dramatic or terrifying!"
"I'm not." I stated still laughing. "My parents wanted to personally meet you. So," Leslie and I stared at each other. "Will you come with me after school?"
"Of course Lily. I would love to." Leslie answered cheerfully with those sparkling eyes. She is really cute though, very easy to please and make happy. After our long talk, we decided to take a shower before going to our last class. "You go first." Leslie motioned me her hand to the last empty cubicle. "I will wait for someone to come out."
"Are you sure?"
Leslie smiled sweetly. "I am sure, now go and take a shower."
Without a second thought, i went inside the cubicle and took off all my clothes. Turning on the shower and sighing when i felt the hot water wash over my body, warm water really helps my sore and tensed muscles to calm down and relax. Heck, how i wish i can stay here for awhile and fall asleep because i suddenly felt tired.
I silently cursed in different languages when a realization hit me, that i forgot my bag outside the cubicle but before i freaked out, i noticed a small cabinet and there were clean towels inside. Oh gosh, thank you. I quickly wrapped the towel around my body and made sure it won't fall.
No one was outside when i peeked out the door and only the sound of water will be heard throughout the shower room. So i took it as a opportunity to get out and silently walk toward my sport bag.
"Number one rule, never leave your things behind." Someone spoke making me jump in surprise. I turned around and the air hitched inside my throat when i saw a fresh and wet Cameron leaning against the wall with a towel perfectly wrapped around her body. Gosh, she looks so imperial and racy with her messy strawberry damp hair around her beautiful face. "Hey. My face is here." Cameron beckoning her hand to me to look up. "Not on my body."
"Psh.." I tried to fight off the gravity and looked away to hide my embarassament. I picked up my bag and hugged it against my chest. "I'm not looking at your body."
"Sure you were not." Cameron said, chuckling. "You know, i really would not mind."
"You are so..." My jaw clentched in annoyance.
"Sexy?" There was a teasing sound in her voice.
I gave Cameron a look that made her feel all the hate in the world for being so confident. "Pathetic!"
"Woah." Cameron's eyes were big. "But you know what, I like that." A huge smile broke into her beautiful face. "You are challenging me."
I just completely ignored what she said by shutting the door because people inside the cubicles were listening to us. Cameron went quiet as well, maybe she was thinking the same way too. I dressed up and fixed myself before getting out the shower room. Thank God, Cameron is not here anymore.
A smile perked at my lips when i saw the glimpsed of Leslie standing outside with earphones on. I slightly tapped her shoulder to get her attention but when Leslie turned to look at me, she accidentally brushed her lips against mine. I blinked once, twice even thrice as if i could not believe what really just happened.
Leslie touched her lips with a blank expression on her face. How i wish i have super powers right now so i will be able to read what is on her mind. And I was about to say something to break the awkwardness between us when she started to talk. "Lily.. I'm.. I'm sorry.."
"No Leslie." I tried not to blush while looking at her. "It's not you okay, it was.. an.. accident." My cheeks were burning hot and before she could muster up any words. "Let's go, we are going to be late." Then i walked passed her but at the back of my head i was scolding myself.
My last class is almost over but nothing comes into my mind because i was busy thinking about Leslie. She hasn't said anything as well and by the look on her face, Leslie is in very deep thought. I turned to the left and saw Cameron, she is busy listening to our teacher. I could not help but watched how her eyelashes swept up and down like the wings of butterflies. How could someone look so beautiful by being so simple? All of a sudden, I saw a smirk at the corner of her lips. Oh gosh, does she know i was looking at her?
A huge and heavy sigh escaped my mouth when finally the bell rang. I lazily stood up and gathering my thing. Leslie stood next to me but this time she is more relax and happy. Well, i guess she already forgot about what happened awhile ago.
"Are you ready?" I asked her.
"I'm nervous but excited." Leslie admitted.
I held her hand with an assuring smile on my face. "Hey, don't be nervous, they don't bite."
Leslie playfully rolled her eyes at me. "What are you guys? A vampire?" We both laugh as we dashed through the crowded hallway where people swarmed like sea of faces. "Is there anything i can give to your parents? cakes? flowers? alpaca.."
I stopped walking when i heard what Leslie was saying. "Wh-what?"
The frown on her face deepened while looking at me. "What what?"
"The things you want to give my parents."
"Oh. The cake?" Leslie asked with an arch eyebrow. I gave her a thick shake of the head as no. "Flowers?"
"No.. The last one."
"The alpa..." Leslie stopped when she finally realized what she just said. "Did i really say that?"
I bursted out laughing when i could not take it anymore. "Oh gosh. Why would you want to give my parents an alpaca?" Leslie's laugh is very contagious. "Mother will flip."
"I'm sorry." Leslie apologized while wiping her stray tears. "Why in the world would I give them an alpaca." She shook her head in disbelief. "What i mean was, apple turn over. I knew someone making a delicious pastries across our school. That would be a great offering for your parents right?"
I suddenly missed Elise, a very close friend from New York. She also loves making pastries and her specialty is apple turner over.
"You don't have to bring anything." I told Leslie. "And don't worry, they will like yo-"
"Hey Lily!" Leslie and I turned our head to someone who is really look handsome wearing his basketball uniform. Grey jogged toward us with his famous toothpaste commercial smile. "Are you going home now ladies?"
"Yeah." It was me who replied. "How was the basketball game?"
Grey combed his fingers through his hair. "It was great, the basketball game is coming so we have to pratice days and night."
"Oh goodluck, i hope you guys win." Leslie answered. I could not help but watch her reaction but to my suprise she no longer blushing while talking to Grey. "We are going to watch and cheer for you guys."
"That is lovely." Grey said. "We will grately appreciate your presence." His green eyes dilated while looking at me. "Are you ladies hungry?" Then he gave Leslie a short glance. "Pizza? Or anything you like, my treat."
Leslie and I stared at each other for a moment. We both contemplated for awhile. Grey is a good guy so i don't really see any problem if he is coming with us.
"Actually, I'm going to Lily's house." Leslie breaks the silenced. "For-"
"My parents wanted to meet my friends from here." I interjected. "So i invited Leslie."
"Oh. That is cool." He said. "Let's go out some other time." Grey was about to walk away when i called his name. "Yes, Lily?"
"Wanna come with us?"
Grey face broke into a smile, as if the whole universe smiled down on him. "Really? Are you sure?"
But before i could say anything, my eyes drifted in the busy hallway and saw Cameron, flipping her strawberry hair while waving here and there like a regal Beauty Queen. I always wondering why Cameron has this kind of affect on me that makes me hypnotize and paralyzed.
"Why are you guys here?" Cameron spellbonded voice rang in my ears. She was now standing in front of me and her devine perfume intoxicsting my nostril. "What is the session?"
"Nothing." Leslie's voice become dull.
But Cameron completedly ignored Leslie. The green eyes girl looked at Grey. "I thought you are going out with your friends after the practice? Why are you still here?"
"I did not go with them." Grey reasoned out. "But Lily invited me." As if on cue, Cameron turned to look at me with those questioning eyes. "Her parents want to meet us." When he said us, it includes Cameron. "So come with us Cam."
I heard Leslie sigh but did not say anything. And by the look of Cameron, she won't accept No for an answer beside my parents will probably look for her.
"Yeah, the more the merrier." I surrendered.
