Joe's POV
I raised a brow at Mortou allowing Hawk to join in this. I was curious if he was actually going to allow it. "Mortou?" looked at him.
"He has trained with them, never killed anyone in the time he was at Bear Moon." Mortou turned his back on me letting me know he was not going to discuss it more. That surprised me.
"I watched him train with them in the trees, I never saw him or heard of him kill one. Even the guy who tried to take Amber." Athens mentioned next to my ear.
"Why do you gotta be a creeper," I shook my shoulders bumping him back to turn around to eye him.
"Cause, your reaction is always fun to watch." Athens snickered.
A few minutes later, everyone had swords. Hawk walked back with a stick-looking thing. I said nothing just settled next to the tree, next to the girls as did Mortou.
Athens took on Logan, Ace, and Mike. All of them managed to slice Athens's shirt. Which meant they were good. I knew everyone else minus Amber and Athens wanted to see the next round.
"Hawk you are up with Justin and Ray," Mortou announced.
Silence followed, I glanced at Amber to see her lean forward, her eyes danced with the excitement of what was about to happen. If she wasn't worried then I should not be either.
Hawk walked onto the field, Ray, and Justin, standing on each side with their two swords. Hawk pulled on the stick as a sword much like a katana slipped out. He turned and threw the sheath of it at Amber who stood and caught it. They had said nothing, she knew what he was going to do. They were deeply connected.
Just after Amber caught the sheath, all three men went at it. Justin and Ray moved with a purpose. My eyes landed on Hawk, it was all fluid grace. His moves hid nothing and his speed lacked nothing. One sword against four. He blocked each one as it came. The only thing out of place was the flop of his braid as he moved. I smelled it then, the coppery scent of blood. I focused on the three. There I saw a thin red angry line of blood trailing down his forearm. He still fought I noted not letting strength leave that arm. He still fought with wounds unwavering to the pain.
"The first time I seen him wounded in a fight, there were three swords stuck in him," Amber spoke out loud. You could hear the shiver in her words. "He did not stop until all of them were dead." She paused again closing her eyes with a look of distress on her face as a tear slid down. "Mato pulled the swords out. It took him about a day to be healed fully." Her arms crossed over herself hugging her body. She looked up, met my eyes, "He killed just over 100 that night,"
"Oh, that was the night I had a super tasty heart" Athens chuckled as he placed a hand on her shoulder to squeeze in comfort.
I turned back to see them still fighting there were several more lines on him, as they kept going. I looked at Mortou and nodded. These guys were damn good.
"Enough!" Mortou's words rocked the area.
The cling and clang of the swords stopped. Amber got up, walking to Hawk she handed him the cover of his sword. He kissed her forehead ever so gently as she walked back to her seat.
Mortou jerked his head off to the side telling us we needed a chat. I didn't even notice that Hawk had slid the sword back in its cover. Walking to the side we stood, "Justin, Ray, and Mike should watch the ladies. The other two can hang with us." Mortou announced.
All of us nodded in agreement. "Yes, who is in charge of whom." I raised a brow.
"I have my soul sister," Huffed Athens.
"For when your not there dumb dumb" I smirked raising a brow shaking my head.
Athens in turn stuck his tongue out at me. Which made me laugh out loud. "Mike can stay with Maya when Athens is not around," I answered. His hand to hand was on par with me.
"Either of Ray or Justin for Amber I am fine with." Hawk nodded.
"The tiny Alpha stays on my watch," Mortou grunted.
"That leaves us a floater so one can rest. Sounds good." I liked this idea.
We broke up our little talk and we're telling the girls when Elder Braun and Pinky came out.
"A little late aren't ya old man." I barked with a raised brow.
"Shut up," he could see that things had already been decided. "Have the girls trained?" He looked back at Amber, Jewel, and Maya.
"No, they were about to start." I grabbed Maya by the waist, yanking her in I planted one of those soul-searing kisses she knew me for. We were breathless as I let her go. "I will be in the office," I grunted. I hated that little four-walled place with a passion.
"I will bring you a snack later wolf," Maya smacked my ass and winked. Little vixen, I knew what she wanted. She would get it and get it good later.
"Make sure you have energy for it, darling," I got husky giving her my best smolder.
She giggled and blushed. Turning on her heel she trotted off to go get ready for their training. I saw Hawk and Amber talking to the guys, we had just tested. She was hugging each one before she placed a doting gaze on Hawk's wounds and torn shirt. He kissed her forehead he wrapped an arm around her waist. He then thoroughly kissed her. I watched her melt in his arms as the men took that moment to leave them. This team was coming together, we had less than a week and a half to become a full-fledged unit and work out any kinks that remained.
