Chapter 5

As the two walked towards the shore a heart-breaking melody reached them. The sound of the violin brought Kendy up short and she pulled Aakesh to a standstill as well. There in front of them in the moonlight, a young girl stood staring out to sea with her silvery blond hair streaming behind her in the wind as she played. The two of them stood in silence until the sounds of the melody faded. Only then, did Kendy gesture back towards the house. “Celesti. She hasn’t been the same since the day Kyne left. I forgot that she comes out to sea every evening to play. Would you mind very much if we joined the rest of the party instead?” Ensuring that his hands stay gentle, Aakesh pulled her to a stop. Even in the darkness of the night she could see the slight glow of his eyes as he looked at her possessively. He seemed to consider and carefully phrase his words as he spoke. “My dragon. He doesn’t like others seeing you in that dress. It shows... too much skin.” For a long time Kendy just stared at him. This huge form in front of her with only the darkness of the night surrounding them. “I am your mate and you are mine.” It was a statement of fact in her soft musical voice, and even as she spoke his body seemed to go rigid at her words and for a long time he didn’t answer or respond to her voice. Finally when the silence stretched in what seemed to be without end, Kendy spoke again. “Let’s go to my place. We will be able to talk there better than here.” A soft, almost warm purplish colored light surrounded them and a moment later the two of them stood in front of her cream-colored cottage house. For a long while Aakesh just stood staring down at her before finally lifting his head and looking around. “You have grown, my mate.” The intensity in his eyes made her blush slightly, before looking around, trying to see her world through his eyes. Trying to take her fingers out of his hand, she turned towards the door of her little house. “Come inside, I’ll make us some coffee to drink.” “Wait.” His fingers tightened with her hand still in his, bringing her to a standstill. “What about your parents. Won’t you be missed?” Kendy shrugged calmly. “I’m used to coming and going as I please. They tend to worry to much, but from experience I know that somewhere a guard would have seen and transferred the message to them that I left. Things have changed much since we were children.” “That in dead they have.” As his warm gaze flit over her dress and the leg that was once again exposed to view, she heard his voice mutter softly, causing her to blush at the almost scandalized way he looked at her. Ensuring this time that her hand really did let go of his, she walked ahead as fast as her heals would allow. Her thought were confused and muddy as she walked and she needed a moment to order herself, find her center, so she excused herself as she opened the door for him. The suddenness of his appearance and seeing him after all these years and taken her off guard, then the words he had spoken to her so roughly and the way her body responded to his words, his kisses and his touch and her trembling. Aakesh stared after her as she walked away. He could sense her distress and wanted to give her the time she needed. His eyes fell on the tattoo on her left shoulder blade as she walked in front of him and for a moment he felt his dragon’s roar of pride. It was the picture of a red dragon in flight next to a dark-haired women with her head thrown back surrounded in a purple light. The sound of a hish drew his attention away from the woman to the dark grey cat sitting on the windowsill, glaring at him. “As over-protective of your mistress as ever, aren’t you? Don’t worry tonight I’m not here to hurt her, or you for that matter.” When the cat slipped past him with a straight back and tail in the air, he could only chuckle at the sight. “And now?” It was Kendy’s voice that drew his attention back to the small passage where she had disappeared the first time. Seeing her there, still dressed in the black dress that grasped every inch of her body, covering just a little more than it had exposed to the view of everyone around him, he could feel his control crumbling. She was truly a beautiful sight. While she had been away she had loosened her hair and now her dark hair fell in waves behind her back and a few strands curled around her cheekbones, making him feel jealous of hair. Stupid man, jealous of hair. Just touch her dumbass. His dragon’s tone of voice was dry, and he could almost feel the eye roll behind it. For a moment as Kendy looked at him, her mouth suddenly dry inside as their eyes met, she realized without a doubt that what she thought would be a night to talk about their differences had turned into more than she had expected. The sight of red scales rippling over his face and then down his neck made her swallow, worried for her small house. His huge body had to hide an even bigger dragon inside. She could see the scales disappearing under his tux and fleetingly wondered at how he would look when he changed, or even better without all those barriers of clothes. From where Aakesh stood, he could see her eyes follow the movement of the scales as he fought for control over his dragon. But the speculative look in her eyes woke the animal inside him and as she blinked, coming back to the present from her thoughts, he was stalking to her in a total animalistic and possessive way. Just as sudden as he had started moving, he stood next to her. With a growl he took her hair behind her head, pulling it slightly back to meet her eyes with his. Only once he was really so close did she realize just how massive and big he truly was. But as their eyes met and his head bowed to claim her mouth with his, her resistance crumbled, and she was his. With a growl that clearly stated his claim, his hand still in her hair, holding her still for his mouths plundering, he moved them so fast that before she knew it, her back was against the wall of the passage. His legs caged hers in while his other hand moved to gently cup her throat. The hand in her hair almost roughly pulled her head to the side as his mouth moved first to the corner of her mouth then down to her jaw bones. Leaving a trail of spark under the warmness of his kisses she was like a puppet in his hands as his mouth continued down the other side of her neck towards her shoulder. The difference between the gentleness of his mouth compared to the almost painful and rough grasp on her hair had her clinging to him as for dear life. With a groan he pressed the growing hardness between his legs against her pelvis while moving her head back into position to claim her mouth once again. For a moment panic set in, for a moment she was back in an ancient old cavern with an unwanted male to close for comfort. In the moment that his mouth moved to claim hers again, a flash of brilliant purple surrounded her. “No!” Her word was more a feeling then truly spoken, and then she was gone. The roar of dragon’s fury ripped through the house as his fist connected with the wall where his mouth had been ready to plunder hers just moments ago. For a moment, Aakesh had to take long slow breaths, his head resting against the wall as he calmed his dragon down. They were Alpha-males and neither appreciated the fact of being left stranded like that. So much more by one that they saw and felt, was theirs. When he finally felt more in control of himself, he took deliberate strides towards the only bedroom of the tiny house. What he saw however in their shook him to his core. The same Kendy who had the entire night been so confident, so sure of herself, stood shaking like a leave with eyes glazed as she just stared in front of her. Her tears of earlier he could handle, even though neither he nor his dragon liked it, but this, this was different. And all he could do was stare...
