As Rudi’s bakkie rolled up under the big oak tree in front of their parents’ house, Kendy watched Sheara step out and walk over to them. She paused for a moment, taking in Kendy’s paler than usual skin tone and then turned an almost quizzical eyebrow on Rudi.
As always it was Rudi who broke the awkward silence by stepping up and giving his mum one of his well-known bear hugs, causing her to giggle almost girlishly. Kendy smiled in response, before also stepping forward for a mother-daughter hug. Without saying a word, Sheara wrapped her arms around her look-a-like, trying to convey all her love for her daughter in that one simple movement.
Stepping back, she looked at Kendy before asking. “DO you want to talk about it?”
“Mum, would you go for a walk with me please?”
