He was pacing up and down of what seemed to be an endless space. Everything would have been as it was planned only if…just if she would not have escaped that night…only just but that was not in his hands now was it?
That b***h had put a dampener on every single thing…and now that she was turning twenty-one and coming to know her powers he was absolutely sure that she was destined for greatness just like he had hoped she would be but she was not his anymore.
Centuries of planning and centuries of patience had finally led to nothing at all.
He screamed in furious rage as all the lights in the torch bowls lit up all of a sudden. Someone was coming to see him. There was only one person who would be coming to see him…the only one who had been his company except for a few nights twenty-one years ago.
“She is magnificent,” said the voice as he reached at the entry of the cave.
“Is she anything as I hoped she would be Azazel?” asked the man who was obscured in darkness.
“She is and she is so much more. She is everything that we had hoped her to be and she has potential to rise above every single thing that I have been planning to put her in her way…I cannot believe she would be so splendid even after being so unaware about her heritage,” said Azazel. His expression was one of surprise and immense satisfaction at something he had witnessed in particular.
“Has she come to understand anything at all? Has she been able to realize that she is the one who is destined for greatness? Does she know the purpose of her life yet Azazel…tell me…please tell me something so that I don’t rip off the hair on my head in frustration!!!” said the man who looked at Azazel. But in the slight light emitted by the fires which were lit along the corridors if anyone had been allowed to peer in the darkness then they could have seen that nothing was humane about this person except the voice in which he spoke.
That was the only thing that had been left to him which had been not marred by the ravages of his action and the curse that he had been bearing down since eternity. Since the beginning of time…it is the one thing that he had been left with….his voice…the voice which he used to lure down the victims down in his trap. The sweet murmurings that he made in their dreams which finally drove some of them towards madness and then made them do unspeakable things.
They say that they are doing what they are told but nothing could be a bigger lie than that. He did nothing except teasing out the darkness which already were hidden in the nooks and corners of their mind and their brain which they were scared of letting out…but he assured them all was right…everything was going to be absolutely fine and they just needed to let go.
“It is too early Brother…far too early for her to know anything about us..about who she is and what is she born for…..” said Azazel, for her was also scared that what would be the reaction when he would say this. But that was true and there was nothing else that he could say to the Lord of Darkness.
“That is not even close of what I wanted to hear Azazel,” said the older brother in a low growl.
“Then perhaps I can say something better which might have the chances of uplifting your mood, is that not?” asked Azazel in a softer voice which might make him more pliant to his wishes.
“Do you think that this is the time that you can regale my moods and uplift my spirits with silly tales?” asked the Devil in a soft voice. And Azazel knew that he could do nothing more except stand there and face the wrath of the creature who was most despised in all creation.
“SHE WAS PROMISED TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE……..SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE ONE TO BREAK THE CURSE…….DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT AZAZEEEELLLLLL??????” screamed the Devil as Azazel shrank a bit back in the corridor of the Fire Pit of Hell where the Hell Fire was stoked only with the wrath of the Devil.
“They are not silly tales Brother. And she is not the only one promised to you. She was promised to me as well. She was promised to me to be my queen..so I have my stake in this as well. So you might as well think about fanning down that fire because it is harming no one else except you,” said Azazel in a cold voice.
He might be a fallen angel but he still was one. He might not be the Dark Lord but he certainly was no pushover as well. He had been doing the bidding since they all fell together but everything had its time.
“Ahhhhhh……rebellion…..my sweet dear brother…..you are thinking of rebellion…are you not?” asked the Devil as he smiled and the fires which had been burning brightly till now their flames died down.
“No Brother. I am not thinking about rebellion at all,” said Azazel, speaking the truth.
“You speak the truth…how strange…you speak the truth and you are not thinking of rebellion at all….then what is it that is giving you the power to speak against me and my tantrums? You know…given my circumstances I am allowed a little bit of wallowing am I not?” asked the erstwhile Morning Star.
“I have seen the glimpse of the future brother. I have seen her to take on the worst of the creatures that had been on earth, the most feared of all women, and she did not even bother to take a glance twice at her even after she was scared like hell. It was like she knew what she had to do. There is something which is changing brother and I am not entirely sure of what that is,” said Azazel.
“But that is not what I am so worried about Azazel…it is what the future holds which I have been barred from seeing is what counts…but tell me has she been able to realize who is she in reality?” asked Lucifer as he waited with bated breath in order to hear about the girl who had turned of age tonight.
“It is too early to think that she is going to know so soon what is happening with her but I have seen her Brother…I wish you could have seen her as well…she is the one thing that you would have been gratified to see. Her voice is so sweet that even death does not seem like a frightening end for anyone anymore. But she has not been able to realize everything just today. It has been only a few hours in the earthly time that the powers have started to take root inside her,” said Azazel as he recalled the way that Eloa had sung the song of peace and light in a language that even she had no idea she knew.
Gradually, only gradually would the transformation begin.
“She is strong, isn’t it?” asked Lucifer as he turned his back to his brother.
“It certainly seems that way Brother. I had never thought that she would be able to let away with such an errant soul but I checked the Hall of Murderers and Elizabeth Bathory is awaiting her judgment and punishment. You can very well understand that it is a done deed and now it is just a matter of time before she comes to know everything about herself,” said Azazel as he smiled with inward satisfaction.
“She still does not know the story of her birth or the reality of who her parents were, does she?” asked Lucifer as he was still immersed in his thoughts.
“No Brother…she is not aware of the circumstances of her birth…she is still under the impression that the human beings who have raised her are the ones who are responsible for her birth,” said Azazel and Lucifer sighed.
“It is better that way…if she comes to know the truth from your mouth Brother…then I think her faith and trust which she has in her parents, it will be shattered and that way she will come to hell alive of her own accord just like we want her to,” said Lucifer.
“And just like always Brother, you do the best of your thinking when you are calm and quiet. I am going to make sure that it goes ahead just like the way in which you said. I am excited to be on earth after quite a long period of time,” said Azazel as he walked away from the room in the cave.
Long after Azazel had left Lucifer alone to wallow in his thoughts once more only then he whispered to himself.
“You might not know what it is you are feeling brother. But I do….hope blossoms in your strange dark black heart…..”
