CHAPTER 6 Social Gathering

There will be a Social Gathering coming up this Monday. Everyone is busy as the Head of St. Luke's Medical Hospital will be their speaker. All Professional medical Representatives were doing their tasks. As a newbie in the Pharmaceutical industry, Marnie had been assigned in sending invitations to respective guests of honor. Dr. Michael Co was one of the guests to be invited and Marnie was so excited.

"Hi, you are a newbie right?" a tall, dark, and handsome man approached her with a smile. He is the President of the Professional Medical Representative in NCR.

"Yes," Marnie replied with a smile.

"I'm Arthur. I am the President here in our organization," Arthur offered his hand for s handshake which was accepted by Marnie.

" Ah, nice meeting you Sir. I am Marnie Castello," she said while accepting his handshake.

" Don't call me Sir. We are in the same boat. I am a med rep here," Arthur said while walking with her. "Where are you going now?" he asked her.

Marnie raised her hand and showed the invitation card she's holding," I am heading to Dr. Co's clinic to hand his invitation card."

"I'll come with you," Arthur said and they both headed to Dr. Co's clinic.

When Doctor Co's secretary saw them, she immediately entertained them. Arthur was the PMR's President so all the secretaries of the doctors were also respecting and giving him a priority. Plus Marnie has been endorsed to her by Doctor Michael too to give priority when she comes in.

"Hi Sir Arthur, Ma'am, please have a seat first. Two more patients were waiting only. You can read some magazines for now while waiting for Dr. Co," the secretary told them politely.

"Wow, a priority?" Marnie teased Arthur. Although they've only met just now, Marnie felt at ease with him already. He was easy to be with and very approachable.

While waiting for Dr. Co, they've chatted a lot. Arthur gave her some tips as a newbie in the pharmaceutical world. She appreciated him so much as she learned a lot.

"Thank you so much for your tips. It will help me a lot," she was so grateful to him upon saying these words.

As a newbie, she needs to talk more about seniors in the business like Arthur.

"If there are more things you need to know, just approach or chat me. I'll be a great pleasure answering all your queries then," Arthur finds Marnie so easy to be with also. She's real and has a willingness to learn.

The majority of the Professional Medical Representatives nowadays were so arrogant and rude. She's different and nice.

After his clinic, Doctor Co was now accommodating Professional Medical Representatives. There were lots of PMRs falling in line outside of his clinic and only the two, Arthur and Marnie were inside his clinic, with the secretary's consent of course.

"Ma'am Marnie and Sir Arthur, you can go inside already," the secretary advised them.

"Good morning Doc," Arthur said.

"Good morning," Doctor Co raised his head and greeted back Arthur. "You are with Marnie? Are you of the same company?" Doctor Co asked him.

"No Dr. Actually, I come with her to give you the invitation for our social gathering," Arthur explained.

"Good morning Doctor Co, Here's your invitation to the event. Please do visit our booth also. Thank you," Marnie politely handed Doctor Co the invitation.

"Thank you. I'll surely be their guys. See you later," he said while accepting the invitation card handed by Marnie. He looked at her eyes which made Marnie tremble and almost lose her balance.

He had this majestic impact on her every time he looked at her eyes. Marnie can't explain why her knees always weaken every time she's near him.

Doctor Co immediately caught Marnie's waist before she fell. Arthur was a bit late to catch Marnie. His eyes were looking at Marnie and Doctor Co then. Why is it he had this feeling of something's going on between the two?

"Hoops! Got you," Doctor Co helped her compose herself. Marnie's cheeks blushed. She felt the same electric energy that same as what she felt on her first encounter with the doctor.

"Thank you, Doctor. My apology," Marnie shyly said to him.

"Why apologize? It's an instinct. You might fall and I just caught you okay," Doctor Michael Co smiled at her.

"Errm. Thank you, Doctor. We will see you later," he cut off the scene since it seemed that's he wasn't in the picture after all.

He wanted to know more about Marnie too.

"Alright, see you then," Doctor Co said while looking at Arthur's gesture to Marnie.

He saw that Arthur tried to hold Marnie's elbow but she politely refused it.

He smiled at Marnie's reaction to Arthur's touch. He was never rejected by this young lady even if he got too closed and almost embraced her twice. He felt electric energy every time he touched her.

"Thank you," Arthur and Marnie said to Doctor Co's secretary when they exit the clinic.

While going back to the venue, Arthur finds an opportunity to invite Marnie over lunch.

"Oh, it's about 11 AM already. Let's have lunch first Marnie, as we can't have it when the gathering starts," he asked her.

Marnie checked her wristwatch when her tummy sounded. "Ooooops. See, you are hungry too. Let's go to the canteen or do you want to lunch outside?"Arthur asked her.

"Well, since my tummy betrayed me already. Come on let's eat. The canteen will be okay," she replied.

"Alright then, let's go. My treat," Arthur said.

"It's okay, we have meal allowance, right? I can pay for mine," she said.

"Nope. I insist. My treat okay," he insisted.

"Okay. If you insist then," Marnie said since she knew he will still insist.

When they reached the canteen, Doctor Co was already there and having his lunch too. He saw the two, Marnie and Arthur coming in and laughing with each other. His face darkened without him knowing his reaction.

The two hadn't noticed Doctor Co as he was sitting at the corner.

Arthur immediately pulls the chair so that Marnie can sit comfortably.

"Take a seat. I'll order the specialty here okay," Arthur said.

"So you won't ask what would I like to order?" Marnie asked him. She finds him a bit bossy now.

"Not really. I just want you to taste the best offer they have here," he said.

"Okay," Marnie said.

Doctor Co observed the two. It seemed that Arthur is impressing her and Marnie wasn't impressed at all. He smiled and continued his lunch.

The event started and Marnie and Arthur manned their respective booths.

All doctors visited their booth and when it comes to Doctor Co's turn to visit Marnie's booth, he advised her, "Don't be too closed with Arthur. He's a womanizer," he can't help but say it to her. He is a bit annoyed with Arthur's closeness with her.

Marnie smiled and said, "I know Doctor co. Thank you," she said.

"By the way, I would like to invite you for a dinner after the event okay," he said straight to her.

Marnie can't offend him and said, "Okay Doctor. Thank you."

After the social gathering, Doctor Michael messaged Marnie to come to his clinic.

Marnie went there and they left for dinner.

Doctor Michael brought her to Via Maris in Antipolo and had their dinner together. He wanted to know her more.

After their dinner, he send her home and bid good night.
