1st week of fieldwork had been through with Marnie and she felt delighted. Ever since she run away from their home with the consent of her father, she had never visited their town. Her mother almost flare-up upon knowing that she was already in Quezon City and started her work. Today, Marnie decided to have a weekend vacation and went back to their town in Batangas. She missed her family and their home. She prepared herself on her mother's nagging mouth already. She knew she had a backup and a savior, her Dad. She smiled thinking about her mother's reaction when she came home today. She packed all her things and went to the bus terminal in Cubao. She still can't get her company car since she can't pass the driving test. She will ask her father to teach her that's why she decided to go home to Batangas too. After she bought her bus ticket from the terminal, she immediately looked for her seat assigned and sit. She put on her headset and turned on her android phone. She used to take asleep every time she rides on a bus. It will take her 3 hours trip before she reaches the Batangas terminal. Sometimes if there's traffic, it took her 5 hours. She informed the bus conductor already to wake her up when they reached the bus terminal as she wanted to sleep comfortably on the bus couch. It took her more than four hours of travel time since it was traffic and weekend. She slept and rest well during t her journey. When the bus reached its terminal, the bus conductor called Marnie. "Madam we have reached our destination already. You can go down already," he smiled at her. She looked like her daughter. "Thank you," Marnie immediately stood up and reached her baggage from the compartment on top of her seat. "I'll help you, Madam," the conductor approached her and helped her get her baggage. "Thanks once again," she smiled and then went down the bus. As she walked along with the terminal, her stomach sounded. She's hungry. She looked for a small restaurant to dine in. "Marnie!" someone shouted her name and she looked for him. A tall dark handsome man was now approaching and smiling at her. Carlo Zapanta was now approaching her. He was her former high school classmate. "Hi, Carlo. Why are you here?" she asked. "I've sent my auntie here to the bus terminal. She will be going to Manila. Is your father or brothers with you?" he asked her while looking around. "Nope. I came from Manila. I'll be going home later. Want to eat?" she offered home to join her dining. He settled beside her and asked her, "If you want I can send you home. I drop you before I go home?" "Sure. Yey. Thanks for the offer, I won't commute either. My family doesn't know I'm going home now," she accepted his offer besides they were neighbors too. Carlo was so happy seeing Marnie. She was her long-time crush since their high school days. She seemed to look like a very beautiful lady now. He also ordered some food and joined her. He is quite hungry too. They've had enjoyed eating together while sharing some of their memories during their teen days and high school days. After they had dined, Marnie joined Carlo in his car. Her friend Carlo looked so gorgeous now. He is now handling their family business in Batangas, Zapanta's Rice Milling Company. He took over their family business after he graduated. Carlo opened the passenger's door to Marnie and helped her load her luggage into the car's compartment. "Your luggage was heavy," he laughed while talking to her. "Yes, it's full of my dirty laundry haha," she laughed too. They had a very cheerful conversation while they were heading to Marnie's home. Carlo's place was just two blocks away from the Castello residence. He was so fond of meeting her once again. He find her so interesting and he wanted to pursue her once more. She focused on her studies when they were young that's why he cant' find the courage to pursue her at that time. Now that he found her once again, he knew that she's now ready to accept suitors. He knew their family background and Marnie was his type ever since. She had a clean image and was very much protected by her family. She's been a good girl ever since and he liked her so much. "Can I ask you something, Marnie? I hope you won't mind?" he asked seriously after their funny conversation on the road. "Yes, what it is?" she asked. "Do you have a boyfriend now?" he asked straight. "None," she answered. "But I don't intend to have any for now. I am enjoying my work." Carlo felt a bit disappointed. He was about to ask her if he can pursue her. After her response, he was quite hesitant to ask her anymore. He wanted her to be ready and since she already said those words, he will just open up this topic to her some other time. He continued to drive and dropped her at her home. "Thank you. Would you like to come inside first and have some coffee," she politely asked him. "No, it's alright. I still have some errands to do. I'll go ahead. Take care," he said. "Thank you again. Take care, Carlo," she said while waving her hand to him. Ding! Dong! Mrs. Castello wasn't expecting any visitors today and she was surprised upon seeing her prodigal daughter in front of her when she opened the door. "Hi Mom," Marnie greeted and kissed her mother who was still shocked. "What bad air did bring you back home?" she said with a smirk. "Who's there?" her father came over and was also surprised upon seeing her. Marnie kissed and hugged her father. "Hey, will you stop nagging your daughter? She's tired. Why not prepare something for her to eat," Mr. Castello told Mrs. Castello. Mrs. Castello was happy to see her daughter yet she can't control herself nagging her. It's her hobby already and every member of the family knew it already. "Okay, Okay" she left the two and started to prepare a lite meal for Marnie. Marnie winked at her father and said, "Thanks, Dad. I love you Dad." Her Dad tapped her shoulders and said, "DOn't mind you Mom, she's so happy to see you. She misses you every day." "I know Dad. I missed her voice too haha!" she said. Marnie was so happy going back to her home and family this weekend. She missed them so much and everything around their home especially her bedroom. She stayed there for two days and enjoyed her weekend. Her father sent her once again to her boarding house in Quezon City the following day. Mrs. Castello prepared her pack of foods. Bought lots of groceries for her stocks in her boarding house. She ensured that there's enough food, vitamins, and toiletries for her daughter's use. She even washed her laundry and put in her luggage so that Marnie had a complete rest on her weekend. "Thanks, Mom. I love you," she said and kissed her mother before her father drove her to Quezon City.
