Moon and Kaion were standing one in front of the other, but their talk was not on a nice topic and their voices were not calm. They were both retaining the anger but as much as they tried, they could not hide the fact that they were terribly annoyed one with the other. They were angry and could not understand why were they feeling so much anger and disappointment over such a common subject. Why they were thinking so different, why their perspectives were so opposed that they could not get along? Deep down there, they both knew they could like each other. They were both royals, after all. Yet, there was nothing bringing them close. They wished they could be friends, but they could not be under these circumstances. Kaion did not seem to understand that women are not toys. Mon was starting to dislike him for his arrogance and his coldness. He did not care about his sister. He did not love her, as he claimed to. He was only interested in what advantages she would bring him after she was to marry some man she would not have chosen for herself. How was that a life?
-And what about what she wants?
-Royal blood does not get what it wants. It is who we are. You should know better!
They both kept quiet. Kaion did not seem to understand why was she so angry, why could she not understand a princess's duty. They were both royal blood, they should be responsible, right? What did she give her the impression that they could choose their life? His father, the king, was also going to prepare a union for him too, what would it be like if he would not agree and let the kingdom in chaos? Why could she not understand? She was a princess too!
-And when are you going to tell her that? Moon looked at him asking in a low voice. She seemed serious and inflexible. She really did not agree with him. But there was no other way, he wish it would be.
-When she will need to know.
-She will run away again. You will lose your sister, for some stupid rules you can not let go of, you know?
-You speak of it as you do not realize your responsibility.
-Yes, we must all be responsible, but does it mean that we can not be happy? Then, why live at all?
Kaion looked at Moon, hearing her question. He never questioned the way he was brought up as a child. Why would he? The rules were simple, rules are to be followed. Yet here she comes, this young lady, mocking the rules and the traditions and taking things so easily, yet speaking of responsibility. What did she mean, should they choose death, instead of life? Just because they would not get their way? But this was their life!! How could she decide not to live it the way it was supposed to be lived?
She should be happy with her position, with her role to play in this kingdom, but she was not doing her duty. She knew nothing, only to question the elders' order. What a spoiled brat! No wonder she could not see the big picture! She was a woman, after all!
It is known that women do not understand the ruling. They are to be kept at home, where they are good to do... whatever they are good to do. He felt curious, what was his mother doing at home? He never asked himself and realized it was not important. As the men were bringing the food on the table, they were the ones defending the cities, and they were the ones in charge of all the political matters. What was a woman doing all day in the house was not that important as long as they were receiving their men smiling every night.
-Things are in order for a reason, princess. If you do not understand the big men's world, maybe you should just listen before speaking out loud. Someone made the rules to be followed, not questioned.
-Well, I agree with you. Someone makes the rules to be followed, and if they are in the position to make those rules for others, then they are made for a reason. But not all rules apply to any situation or even to all people. And then, there is the time... sometimes, rules need to change in other situations... Even life does not have a fixed course... everything is just a stream, running down and changing over time. Plus, not all the rules are good... If a ruler is not kind and thinking about his people... And not thinking about your people's happiness first, what kind of a future ruler will that make you? Have you ever thought about that?
Of course, he had thought about that, many times, actually. But what was this little girl knowing about the world and ruling? She was not in charge of anything; she had no idea what ruling means, what being responsible for all those lives meant! She had never been in a war! To care for all and watch for their safety, to not being able to sleep because of the war, to prepare defenses and... and what did this little princess know about any of this? Of course, she did not! How could she, when all they do, these princesses... all they do is just sit, smile sweetly and look nice...
-You know nothing!! Kaion managed to lose his temper. Your parents should have taught you what a princess is all about.
-Oh, but they did... Just not like yours...
-Mine have taught us well...
-Is that why Senere left them??
Moon knew this was Kaion's weak point, and she could not just help herself stay away and not press on his wound.
Kaion just took a long breath in order to calm himself down but while looking at her in the process, something in his eyes changed. He just grabbed Moon by the shoulders and pinned her into the tree behind her and kissed her fiercely, like there was no tomorrow. At first, she struggled, but his grip was so strong, that she could not move at all, her body being captured between his body and the tree. She struggled, but if she really felt she was in any real danger, she would have escaped. But her body had a mind of it's own, it appears, and she felt scared of the anticipation that her body was acknowledging.
Her body was asking for this. How? It was confusing, she did not know, as she had never felt this way before. She wanted to feel him stronger than her. How could that be?
The way he was holding her, at first she could not take it, feeling so powerless in this man's hands. But then his fresh scent made her almost dizzy, he was smelling so good, and while she was trying to process his smell, his lips were already pressing hers firmly. Her thoughts just disappeared and she could only feel and she did not want this feeling to end. His lips were soft and her body started to feel hot inside, everywhere. It was an uncomfortable comfortable feeling... how could that be explained in the right words she did not possess right now? His lips were devouring her and she let him. What? How? She was unable to move. She could not think, she only wanted to feel. THAT kind of hunger.
By the time he stopped the kiss and took a step behind, they were both panting for air. Silence became awkward between them. His beautiful eyes were fixed on her, just like the hunter's gaze over the target. Was he expecting her to say something? If he did, she did not know what to say, as her mind was still blank, her body still processing his touch.
-A princess would never let herself be touched like that by anyone... He said.
-What? Her mind could still not process his words, but something did not click. He was looking at her with contempt, after this, but it was him who touched her! What was she supposed to do now? What was he saying? That was the first man who she ever let touch her. And he was thinking... He was saying now, that she let everyone do this? What was he saying? He did not like it?
She could just look at him turning his back on her and leaving her there, in the forest. She was shaking and her face was red. She was furious, and she was trembling too much, so all she could do was stay glued to the tree behind her, that was sustaining her body, because if she would take one single step she would probably fall.
She was ashamed she let him do that to her, she did not even defend herself from him. Why? What was she thinking when she let him do that?? She never let anyone touch her like that. And the kiss... that kiss... her head was already spinning again just thinking about it. His lips... on hers... were so firm yet so soft like velvet.
She shook her head, no; she did not want to remember that. He touched her and then used that against her. Like, she was some kind of a w***e or something. When it was him who started it! She hated him! She decided on that very spot, at that very moment. She hated him!!
Now she understood. They were dangerous. they could pretend to be friendly, but after all... they were the enemy. They could turn at any time, when no one would expect it. They were dangerous only because they were carrying royal blood inside them. They needed to be taken care of, somehow. Her family would not be safe until they were dealt with. Both of them.
As well as their last man and even Senere's maids. She will only be permitted by the family's personal to attend to her. This way, the damage would be less, as their personnel was loyal to them.
She felt her feet growing steady, and she left towards the fortress. She only wanted to get to her parent's room. But her mother was not there. Her father either. She only wanted to be held. She only wanted someone to talk to her. She felt miserable. And cold too. His warmth, all that hot body pressed against hers, made her feel its absence. She wanted that back. But not him. She hated him.
Her feet took her inside, and she did not even know how she got there. She did not make it in the parents' quarters, as Tiger summoned her into Senere's room.
She was not in the mood for anything. She did not want to hear anyone. But when she got there, right before she opened the door, she heard her brothers speaking. She heard Xande's voice and she froze on the spot:
-She must either marry one of us, or die today!
