59. Learning new ways

1539 Words
He ruled alone. He had no War Council. He was a soldier with not much respect for life itself. And he did not like to lose. And he did not like to be lied to. He hated the Warchild House, and he blamed them for the murder of his father and that woman he cared about a long time ago. How long ago? Well, it did not even matter. She did not need to know about it. And she needed to be careful, because now he knew she was a Warchild princess. This was the King, as far as Silver Moon got to know him. His words were tricky. He said she could walk around the castle free, but she was tied up and his prisoner. Would he really let her walk around, free? Was he not afraid that she would try to escape? -Can I ask... Silver Moon found the courage to open her mouth and let the words out for him to hear. She needed to know. -Ask. -Now you know my rank. She paused, trying to make him talk, but he said no word. He was waiting. He was waiting for her to issue her thoughts on the matter. She did not like that, because there were many ways to ask questions, and each way he could use as a weapon against her. And that was the last thing she would want to happen. She needed to resist and stay alive, until her father would come back for her. -What... do you... want to do with me now? She managed to ask, trying to put it as simple as she could and give him the power to answer and make her understand her position now. He kept silent for a moment. Thinking about what he should do with her. A Warchild Princess. -What is your name? -I am Silver Moon. His appearance did not change. -I know no Warchild princess called like that. -Of course, you do not know. You live here, not in my world, she said. -I only know of that bastard Crown Prince and his sister. Where have you been hidden? Are there more of you? She looked at him, trying to make up her mind and decide which question to answer. -I do not lie to you. His eyebrows raised up in question, and she understood where he was headed to. He did not believe her. It was normal too, when everybody knew there were only Kaion and Senere, royal blood of the Warchild... How could she be one when there was never mentioned any more of them? -You said the princess ran away from marriage, he said. -Princess Senere did run away to my family. It is true. They are protecting her now and she will marry my brother. The Crown Prince Kaion managed to trick me instead, and brought me here, into his House. -Is hard to believe that bastard could trick you into doing something you would not do... -He did. His father saw my family as a threat, so he tried to force me to marry him. -Of course, he would do that... Moon looked at the king, and his eyes were now sparkling with tiny little stars of anger. His eye color changed from ice cold to fire burn. -So the Prince proposed to me instead, to save me from his father. -What? So you are to marry that weakling then?? Yes, the Ice King did not appear to like that much. -He did that only to save me from his father. Because he knows my family would burn their kingdom down if they would hurt me. -Your family?? -Yes. He thought that, if I am the prince's wife, then his father can not touch me, and his word stands. -What word? -That he would not hurt me. The king looked at Moon, and he appeared to be thinking about her words. The new information was too important not to be used, and he needed to find out how exactly he should use it to be in advantage. Moon understood his hunger for power, and she was playing exactly the words that were making him react. -So you are the Crown Princess of the Warchild then... -I am not! Her sharp tone drew his attention. Her expression changed into a displeased one. Did she not want that power? Did she resent her house, perhaps? -You are to marry the Crown Prince you say... -I did not agree with this union! It was forced on me, only so his father would not kill me. -Why would the Warchild kill you? -I told you. -Tell me more... It is obviously more... so tell me. -Because I am a threat to them. -Why are you a threat to them? You are a female!! The princess in front of him did not show any fear when she looked at him. She was obviously trying to decide whether he should know the truth or not. -I do not like to be lied to, princess, so choose your words carefully. She took her time, but her voice did not show any fear when she spoke in front of him. -Because if they do anything to me, MY KING will come and turn this world upside down, and kill them all. The look on the Ice King's face was full of confusion. A king? What king? Another king? What king?? Her king? Who was this "her" king? Who could kill them all? How come he did not know of such a person, capable of doing what she was saying? He was really confused. He did not understand her words. Was she... What was she saying? -There is only me, and the Warchild blood here... Who is... this... king.... of yours I have never heard of? And if he is so mighty, how come, I have never heard of him? She did not seem impressed by his tone. She was just looking at him. Thinking. The only one who was telling the truth could keep calm like that. -I do not lie. My king will come. And the Warchild House and any other house would pay for insulting me. Everyone. And if you think you are ruthless... My king became king at 16. And when they come for me, they will get all my brothers to come too. It was the king's turn to keep quiet. This female... she must have been crazy... her mind was not right. Yet here she was standing in front of him, speaking as if she was owning the truth. Yet, her words were impossible to prove. -Then let me get this straight... Their princess ran away and your people received her with opened arms... why? -Because we live our lives differently than you do here. We do not force the females into unions if they do not want that; they have the right to choose their mates. -Mates?? -Yes. Our sarumans chose our mates in my world. Only that Prince Kaion did not like that we granted his sister shelter, so he tricked me and brought me into his place in exchange. -For what? -I do not know! I asked him that, and he did not answer. He put me in a dangerous situation and endangered my life. For this, my people will have no mercy on them. -Where are your people now? -Away. -Where? -Away. -You speak the words but you make no sense. You tell a story that can not be verified. -And I do not lie. -And I can not know that. -I know. The answer she gave him to his almost accusation, made his jaw drop on the floor. If all that she said was really a lie, then she should have backed up every word she issued. But she did not. Why was she not?? Did she not want him to believe her? She was not trying to convince him very hard. She was just expecting him to trust her words, just like that? She was dead wrong. -So you are saying, that somewhere, there is this Warchild? King... another one... so strong that even the Warchild House will fall on their knees in front of him? Yet no one knows or has even heard of such a king... -I do not lie. -And this king will come for you? -Yes. -And what does he want with you? -I am his blood. -Warchild blood... -No. And yes. -What? He was obviously losing his patience. Too much confusion was making him feel she was wasting his time. It was not fun anymore. Het words made no sense. It was beyond fiction. -No and yes what?? She was delusional. He had already decided to throw her into the dungeon and maybe later, give her to the soldiers too. The little interest she had risen in him, faded fast. However, she noticed that and she decided to open her mouth to speak. And the moment she spoke to her, all the words made his heart freeze, as long as his mind. -I am Silver Moon, Princes of Warchild and Shadows' Assassins United houses from the New World. My home land is the New World of the shadows.
