They left the farmhouse early and got straight back on the road. Sam drove the van today, Vicky with him up front. Stan had baulked at the fact they’d left the keys in the ignition all night. ‘Safest option,’ Sam had explained. ‘Means that whoever gets to the vehicles first can drive. Gives us the best chance of getting away quick if things get shitty.’ ‘Yes, but what if someone takes it?’ Stan protested, aghast. ‘Who? Vehicle theft is on the decline, I heard.
