Patti’s pov
I had to lie and tell Lucien I had a boyfriend. That was the only way he would back off. I know I made him mad. I want him to keep his distance. The more I am around him the more I want to tell him my secrets. I can’t do that. No one can know what I have been through.
I sat at my office looking up a few things. I didn’t want to be here, but I didn’t want to let my brother down either. I noticed I had an email marked urgent, so I opened it up.
It was from the parole board letting me know my ex has escaped prison while he was being transferred. I can’t believe this. He’s free. What if he finds me? He will kill me. I need to leave.
I can’t bring him here. He will harm everyone I love just to get to me. I just don’t get how someone as dangerous as him could escape.
