Derek’s pov
I kept thinking about Layla and looking at the piece of paper with her name on it. Part of me really wanted to call her, but the other part just wasn’t ready. I mean she seemed nice, but so did Beth at first. No one wanted to be with a man that was rarely home.
They got tired of it then they strayed. His heart couldn’t take being hurt again. He just wasn’t ready. So, he threw away the number, and decided it was for the best. He doubted he would ever see her again. Hell, she probably forgot all about him.
He finished packing his gear for his fight tonight. He needed to get into his fighter mode and forget all about women. Tonight, he was fighting some newbie that thought he was “the best.” Well I had news for him no one is the best at this.
