Chapter 4: The Graf of Melenaria
After leaving Headquarters, Judah raced his car as fast as the laws allowed to Tsar Gregoriy Spaceport to meet his darling Vida. Even so he was ten minutes late for the appointed time; fortunately, her ship arrived even later, and Vida wasn’t left standing around to wait for him.
When she finally emerged from Customs he ran over to her and they embraced like any ordinary pair of long-separated lovers. They hadn’t seen each other since their assignment together protecting Tsaritsa Natalia on Ansegria twenty months ago. They’d each stored up a great deal of emotion during that interval and, in the first few minutes, they almost completely forgot they were in a public place.
