Eva turned grimly to her fiancé. “I can’t see any way around it,” she said. “You and I will have to die. Right away.”
“I said I’d love you till the day I died, but I was hoping it wouldn’t be quite this soon.”
She’d already hurried back the the ventilating duct. “Oy, don’t be such a baby. Be a mensh. Think of it as an adventure. Come on.”
Before climbing back into the the duct, Eva turned, pulled her beamer and sprayed its fiery ray over the comm room. The pirates would soon learn they’d been here. If the equipment were left intact, they might guess some of what really happened.
