Riley is in my arms, unconscious, while the Vampire Guards close in on us. The magic cloak that hid her wolf identity has faded, and they know exactly what she is now. The worst part? Vampire speed is relentless. I have no choice but to fight. The teleportation spell isn’t ready yet.
One of them lunges at me, but I land a brutal kick, sending him and several others flying through the trees. They crash hard, backs slamming into the trunks. But more keep coming, and I curse myself for not keeping Riley closer. If I had, maybe we wouldn’t be in this nightmare.
