The manager nodded approvingly. "Well said, Selene. Let's all try to work together and lift each other, rather than tearing each other down." Lisa smiled and patted Selene's hand. "That's our Selene - always the voice of reason." Mare muttered under her breath, "Yeah, and always the manager's pet." But Selene just ignored her and continued to smile, her confidence and kindness shining through. As the manager left, Selene's eyes returned to their usual indifference and she gazed at Dorris and her friends with a hint of disdain. Dorris, still smarting from the manager's rebuke, sneered at Selene. "You think you're so special, don't you? But you're not as perfect as you seem." Lisa turned back to face them, her eyes flashing with annoyance. "Is that all you got? You're just mad because Selene is better at her job than you'll ever be." Mare snarled, "At least we don't suck up to the manager all the time." Lisa smirked. "Oh, I see. So now you're jealous of Selene's work ethic and her ability to get along with the manager? That's rich coming from you two." Dorris's face turned red with rage, but Lisa just laughed. "Bring it on, girls. I'm not afraid of you." Here's a continuation: As Doris and her group left, Lisa turned to Selene and smiled. "Wow, she's really got it in for you. But don't worry, I've got your back." Selene smiled back, feeling grateful for Lisa's support. "Thanks, Lisa. I don't know what I'd do without you." Lisa chuckled. "You'll never have to find out, because I'm not going anywhere. We're in this together, always." Just then, the manager returned to the room, looking concerned. "What happened here? I could feel the tension from outside." Lisa filled her in on the details, leaving out no names. "Let's just say someone can't handle a little competition and got angry when we wouldn't back down." The manager nodded thoughtfully. "I see. Well, I'm glad you two are okay. And don't worry, I'll make sure to keep an eye on things around here." Selene smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "Thanks, manager. That means a lot to us." What happens next? They had never seen her like this before, and it unnerved them. Mare tried to speak up, but her voice trembled. "W-we were just trying to..." Selene's gaze cut her off, and she took a step closer to them. "You were trying to what? Undermine me? Make me look bad? Newsflash: it won't work." Dorris swallowed hard, trying to find her courage. "We're just trying to stand up for ourselves." Selene's smile was icy. "By spreading rumors and lies? That's not standing up for yourselves, that's just pathetic." The group fell silent, intimidated by Selene's confidence and assertiveness. Amidst the tension, Selene stood firm, her voice unwavering. "I won't leave this job until I feel sad and resign when I feel like it." Doris's face turned furious, her eyes blazing with anger. "I will make sure you resign from this job whether you want it or not!" She spat the words, her venomous tone filling the room. "The both of you should get out of here!" Lisa smiled serenely, unphased by Doris's outburst. "Why should we leave? We were here before you guys came in to pick a fight with me. I'm not moving an inch." Doris's anger boiled over, and she gritted her teeth before turning on her heel and walking away angrily. Her friends and other colleagues followed her, casting nervous glances back at Selene, Rachel, and Lisa.
