THANE’S POV
I am sitting with Anna today. It has been ten weeks since the day I bought her home. We all still take turns sitting with her. Theresa even comes from Full Moon to talk to her once a week. Tessa is doing Luna training, and she will meet me here after she is done. I have been searching for a restaurant to take her to tonight for dinner. I know becoming my mate and soon to be Luna of Crystal Lake is a lot, so I want to spend as much time with her now as I can. I am checking the reviews for a steak house in town, when I hear a whisper
“alarm….beeping….annoying” is all I get
I stand up and walk over to the bed
“Annalisa?” I ask
“Yes, turn off your alarm and turn off the lights, I’m sleeping” she says, but it comes out as a whisper, since it’s been months since she’s talked
“DOCTOR ROBERT” I yell and run out the door
I am running down the hall screaming for Dr Roberts when Tara stops me
“Thane, what’s wrong?”
“Anna’s awake” I say
“Okay, instead of running and yelling through the halls, why didn’t you link him” she says laughing at me
“I didn’t think of that” I say shyly
“I’ll link Robert. You link your parents and grandparents. Come, let’s go check on our sleeping beauty”
We walked back to her room, just as Dr Robert was coming from the other direction.
“I have linked my parents and grandparents. They are on their way”
We all entered the room, but she still looked like she was sleeping. Did I imagine her talking to me?
“Annalisa? Are you awake” Dr Roberts asks
“Yes, I told that other guy I was. The loud one” she says. They smile at me
“Can you open your eyes” he asks
“It’s too bright” she says
“I’ll turn off the lights” Tara says. She turns off the lights and dims the blinds
“I told the loud guy, but he didn’t listen. Can you turn his alarm off? It keeps beeping” she says
“Okay, I will stop the beeping. Can you open your eyes now?” Dr Robert asks
Anna slowly opens her eyes just as my parents and grandparents enter the room. They all gasp and my grandma and mom start crying.
“Hey there. I am Dr Robert, I have been taking care of you for the last ten weeks. Can I do a quick exam?” Dr Robert says
“Sure, can I get some water?” she asks
He checks her reflexes and makes her squeeze his fingers. He shines a light in her eyes and takes her vitals. Tara comes back with water which she drinks with ease.
“Is that better?” Tara asks
“Yes, thank you” she replies
“Your voice is getting stronger. It has been over two months since you said anything. That will get better with time”
“I haven’t spoken in six years” she says
“Excuse me?” my dad questions. She turns to him
“Uncle Derrick?” she says, staring at him
“Yes, little one, it’s me” he says, coming over to her bed
“You look like Dad but with a beard. He told me to tell you ‘hi’ and he loves you”
“Your dad told you to tell me that?”
“Yeah, when I saw my parents and The Moon Goddess, in my dreams” she replied
“Uncle Derrick, I’m not at Dark Hollow anymore, am I?” she questioned
“No Anna, your cousin Thane found you when you escaped and bought you here” Dad said pointing to me
“You are the loud one who was screaming” she exclaims
“You freaked me out” I say
“Do you always scream like a little girl when you get freaked out?” she asks
“I didn’t scream like a little girl” I retort
“Whatever you want to tell yourself big guy. Thank you for helping me”
“It was my pleasure, cousin” I say smiling
Alpha Derrick’s POV
She’s awake. We just received a link from Thane that Anna is awake. I drop everything and link Bastien and Ronald that Anna is awake, so I’m going to the hospital. I am joined by Opal, Tessa and my parents on the way there. We walk in just as she is opening her eyes. Marcia’s beautiful blue eyes were staring back at me. Anna is the perfect blend between my brother and his mate. She has our family’s dark black wavy hair and olive skin tone but her mother’s blue eyes and sharp facial features. She has always been little like her mother. People used to think because Marcia was short, she was a push over, they learned their mistake real quick. She was a true Alpha’s daughter and didn’t take s**t from anyone, she wasn’t a warrior but could hold her own in a fight. She was the brain and political negotiator to my brother’s brawn and intimidating aura. They were a great pair.
“Excuse me” I say when I think she says something about not talking for six years. What the hell??!!
“Uncle Derrick?” she says, staring at me
“Yes, little one, it’s me” I reply, walking over to her bed
“You look like Dad but with a beard. He told me to tell you ‘hi’ and he loves you”
“Your dad told you to tell me that?” I question
“Yeah, when I saw my parents and The Moon Goddess, in my dreams” she replied
I sat there stunned with my mouth hanging open.
“Uncle Derrick, I’m not in Dark Hollow anymore, am I?” she questioned
“No Anna, your cousin Thane found you when you escaped and bought you here” I said pointing to Thane
I half listen to her and Thane’s banter and think about all we have to discuss with her. What's this about not talking for six years?
