Chapter 25

Unknown’s POV

I have been on a special assignment for Alpha Xander for the last six months. I was undercover with the werewolf King. I was not able to get or make calls for a while during this assignment. I knew I would have to go dark for months with this assignment, and I was okay with that. What I was not expecting was to check my messages and be told my brother and his mate were killed by rogues. They were both warriors, so it’s not that it was impossible, just not the message you want to hear over a month after their deaths. Where is Camilla? Who has my two-year-old niece? I have to get home. I sent a message to Xander and explained the situation. He plans to extract me without suspicion.

I get to Crystal Lake and go to the orphanage because we have no other family. So, no one else would have claimed Camilla. I hope she is okay. I walked in and smelled my favorite dessert of apple pie. The apple and cinnamon smell makes my mouth water. I think this would be a great orphanage if they gave the kids apple pie. There was no one at the front desk, so I wandered through the halls looking for Camilla. As I do this, the apple and cinnamon smell is getting stronger. Then I see Camilla being carried by the most beautiful creature alive. She is around 5ft 7in, thin with caramel skin and long brown hair, her eyes are round and light brown. I stare at her as my wolf yells ‘MATE’ ‘MATE’ ‘MATE’ in my head. She is my mate; I found my mate. I started getting excited and see her belly. She was pregnant. Why is my mate pregnant? Then I got angry and started yelling at her. I know I am wrong, but I have started down this rabbit hole and I can’t stop myself

“That’s my niece. Give her to me” I yell at her

“No. Not without authorization” she says moving away from me

The fact she is moving away from me or is possibly scared of me makes me angrier. But I’m not angry with her, but with myself. What am I doing?

“I said give her to me” screamed and stepped closer

Her scent starts to calm me. But then she kneed me in the balls. I bend over, and she runs, locking herself in the bathroom. My mate kicked me in my family jewels and ran from me

“What are you doing? You are scaring our mate?” my wolf Razor says

“She has Camilla”

“But she’s not hurting her, and she told you she’s volunteering her. STOP IT” he growls

“Sir I am Mrs. Lewis, I run the orphanage. Please calm down and we can fix this” the nice lady says

But I’m mad. My mate is running from me, she kicked me in the balls, and now my wolf is growling at me. My brother is dead, and my niece was in an orphanage for over a month because I was not available. I just feel like a bad person all around. Now I’m arguing with this nice old lady

“ENOUGH!!” Alpha Thane screams and all yelling stops

I followed him to the office as instructed. Thane and I have been friends for years. I grew up in Crystal Lake. I just work with Alpha Xander because I am one of his elite warriors. They are both good friends of mine, and I know once this is done they are both going to kick my ass.

“Trevor, what is going on?” Thane asks once we get to the office

“I got the message about Thomas and Linda. I came right back to get Camilla, and that woman wouldn’t give her to me” I say stubbornly

“Alpha, this young man did not follow proper protocol. He was not authorized to take Camilla. He began yelling at Lucia and you know what that does to her” Mrs. Lewis says

Lucia! my mates name is Lucia. What a beautiful name for a beautiful woman.

“She kicked me in the nuts” I growl

“From what I am hearing you deserved it” Thane says

“Mrs. Lewis, will you please get the paperwork for Trevor to take his niece home. He is her uncle, and I will sign the authorization” Thane says and the nice lady leaves the office

“What the f**k Man. You come back starting trouble” Thane says

“I’m sorry man. I didn’t mean it. But Thane I have a problem” I say as the office door opens, and she walks in with Camilla

I link Thane that Lucia is my mate

“f**k!!” he says out loud and the women look at him

“Lucia, thank you for protecting Camilla. This is Trevor, he is Camilla’s Uncle, and we are in the process of getting the authorization done for him to take her home. Tessa, please go with Lucia to get Camilla’s clothes packed for Trevor to take her. And Trevor apologize to Lucia for your behavior” Thane says

“Lucia, I apologize for the way I behaved. Thank you for taking care of my niece and protecting her, even from me”

She nods and leaves the room with the other lady

Lucia’s POV

I walk into the office, and I am told by Thane that this man is Camilla’s uncle, and he is going to be taking her. I walked with Tessa to her room to pack her belongings. I get to the room, put her in the crib and breakdown crying

“Lucia? What’s the matter? Are you hurt?” Tessa asks, coming and hugging me

I can’t stop crying. She guides me to the sofa in the room and holds me while I cry. She doesn’t say anything, just lets me cry

“He’s mean, Tessa” I sob

“He’s a friend of Thane’s. I think he was emotional finding out about his brother. I think it was a big misunderstanding,” she says

“He’s my mate, Tes” I cry harder

“WHAT?”

“He’s my mate, and he’s mean and scary. I can’t be with someone who is mean and yells all the time. I have PTSD from being yelled at and beaten by the alpha. I can’t be with him. He won’t want me anyway. I kicked him in his balls. In addition to being raped and pregnant. I can’t believe this is happening like this” I cry

“Lucia, I think we need to talk about this. I am linking Thane” Tessa says

“It doesn’t matter. He will never want me. I’m broken and pregnant. Who would ever want me? And now I won’t even be able to see Camilla anymore. He’s taking her away” I sob

“He is her relative. She should be with him” Tessa says

“I won’t see her anymore. I have no mate, no Camilla, no parents. I’m pregnant and want to keep my baby but scared I can’t do it by myself. I’m a failure” I say and cry harder

“Oh, Lucia, you are not a failure. You have just had some bad things happen to you. Please calm down before you have a panic attack” Tessa says

“I can’t do anything right. I want to be a nurse, like Tara. What kind of nurse will I be when I can’t even talk to someone without hyperventilating? I am useless, I am broken, I am a failure” I say while gasping for air

I….I….I can’t…..can’t breathe. Tes, I can’t breathe” is the last thing I say before I pass out

Trevor’s POV

“Trevor? What the f**k dude? If Lucia is your mate, why are you yelling at her?”

“I don’t know Thane. Everything just snowballed. I smelled her as soon as I entered the house. Then I saw her with Camilla, and she is beautiful. Then I saw she was pregnant and got angry. I started asking her who she was and why she had Camilla. She told me she was a volunteer and when she wouldn’t give me Camilla, I just got more angry. I knew she was right, but I couldn’t stop myself. Then she started backing away from me because she was scared and that made me madder. Then she kicked me in the nuts and ran from me. She is my mate Thane; she kicked me and ran from me” I say solemnly

“Because you were acting like a crazy person. All you had to do was talk to her, and you yell at her. She was probably worried about Camilla and that’s why she kicked you and ran instead of having a panic attack and passing out” Thane says

“Panic attack? Passing out? I didn’t hurt her. Why would she pass out?” I question

“Lucia’s situation is very delicate. I can’t give you the details she has to tell you herself. But she has PTSD and when people yell at her or around her, she has a panic attack. If it is really bad, she can pass out” Thane replies

“Thane, I didn’t mean to scare her. How do I fix this?”

“You have to have patience with Lucia and talk…” he starts but is interrupted by a mindlink

“s**t!! Lucia passed out” he screams screamed and runs out the office

I follow Thane to Camilla’s room and see Lucia on the floor. I rush to her. Her skin is cold and clammy, she is sweating.

“WHAT HAPPENED?” I yell at the other lady

“DON’T YELL AT MY MATE TREVOR” Thane says releasing some of his aura

“Sorry Luna” I say bowing

“I linked Dr Robert; he says to get her to the hospital now. I also sent Corrie a text. You take her to the hospital. I will let Mrs. Lewis know what’s going on” Thane’s mate says

I pick her up, and we run to the hospital. Dr Robert directs us to a room then kicks us out so he can help her. I sat in the waiting room with my head in my hands. I feel wetness on my hands. I pray to the Moon Goddess that she and the baby are okay and that I can fix this

“We have to fix this Trevor”

“I know Razor”

“I want my mate and my pup” Razor says

“You are accepting the pup? She's pregnant by another man.”

“That is my pup!” he states with finality.
