The few words Prince Yun had said to Siu left her dumbfounded. Her, going to the Royal City accompanied by the prince? It had never crossed her mind, and she had never even dreamed of seeing that place, even though some of the villagers said it was wonderful.
"No way, I can't accept... What would a girl like me do in that place? I'm a villager, he's a prince. I must search for my parents around here, maybe they're nearby. Although, to be honest... for some strange reason, I don't want to stop seeing him."
"I...," Siu muttered, her cheeks flushed crimson, the words wouldn't come out, she was blocked and confused, and her weakness didn't allow her to think clearly.
Siu didn't manage to say another word because dizziness blurred her vision once again, leaving Yun with uncertainty and anxiety. He could only bring his hand to her face to check her temperature. The fever had appeared, along with so many open wounds all over her body.
An unfamiliar voice momentarily snapped Yun out of his concern for Siu, and what he heard sent shivers down his spine.
"It is announced to the entire people of China that Empress Qing An has passed away! All inhabitants are requested to present themselves at the Forbidden City Palace to offer their condolences!"
Despite his limited hearing, the wandering announcer shouted it loud enough, and he had passed right by Siu's house.
That voice resonated in the prince's mind so deeply, as if every word pierced his ears. His stomach churned, and the tightness in his chest was worse than all his other pains.
The prince sat down, leaning his back against Siu's bed frame; his breathing quickened, tears welled up in his dark eyes, and the lump in his throat unraveled into quiet sobs that soon grew louder. Desperation took hold. His greatest fear had come true.
"All this damn journey... in vain!" Yun clenched his fists in frustration. "Always with the uncertainty of whether I was doing the right thing, and now I confirm that it's quite the opposite. I curse myself at this moment and forever! Because of me, my mother has passed away, and I don't even know if my body will respond to be able to say a final goodbye."
Yun screamed in anger, in helplessness, and in pain. Without even realizing it, his eyes once again ignited with intense red. He moved heavily to kneel and pounded the ground as hard as he could.
He struck again and again until he created a hole in the ground, which was the floor of the Wu house. Around him, an aura of wind and heat formed simultaneously. Siu's hair and the sheets were moving, and she soon began to rise, swayed by that force, but Yun was unaware of what he was causing.
The people gathered outside the house, murmuring about the Empress's death, couldn't resist their curiosity about the commotion inside. They could hear as if a windstorm was moving everything, and the cries of lament grew louder.
"I can't take this anymore; we need to see what's happening. That guy didn't even let us see Miss Wu," said a farmer and the leader of the village.
"But, Huang... We shouldn't intervene; that boy sounds very violent," his wife replied, clinging to her husband's arm.
"Nothing will happen, dear. Despite Miss Wu being a murderer, it's better to rescue her from that man we don't know and hand her over to the authorities in Jiuquan City. We can't do much about it here in Yumai."
With that said, Mr. Huang, with the help of two other men, kicked down the door. When they tried to enter the Wu house, the wind almost sent them flying, but being burly men, they managed to get inside to see what was happening.
This young man, who seemed calm and with vibes of kindness according to the villagers, left them on edge when he refused to hand over Siu, especially when he erupted in that fury that seemed to be that of a raging monster.
"Grab Miss Wu and take her to the Jiuquan hospital; we'll take care of this out-of-control stranger here," ordered Huang, and two men took the unconscious Siu to try to get her out of there.
Yun continued to scream and cry as he kept pounding the ground, which had already sunk to become a moderately deep hole. As soon as he felt two strong pairs of hands gripping his arms, he began to struggle and growl in a way that intimidated those men. Huang and his burly companion did their best to lift him, but nothing worked.
As Yun directed his red orbs towards where Siu was being carried, his anger intensified even more when he felt her being pulled away from his side, to the extent that the pains and sorrows couldn't prevent the armored young man from standing up, grabbing his helmet to put it on, and with superhuman speed, he snatched the girl from those men and ran away to avoid being seen by the villagers, who were left dumbfounded by what they had witnessed.
"I'm too furious; I won't allow them to take her away from me," Yun thought, without stopping to think about what he was saying. "I must reach the Forbidden City... I'll get there sooner than I imagine... I must..." Yun's thoughts became cloudy, as did his vision and his other senses.
Once again, his injuries and blows took a toll on Yun, who had already covered a considerable distance, but as soon as he managed to calm down from the consuming rage, everything turned into a long darkness. The prince with long black hair succumbed once more to the gravity of his injuries, unable to help Siu, who seemed to be in as bad or worse condition than he was.
