Chapter Twelve
Alexa awoke and greeted the morning with a smile. By her best rough calculations, she'd actually beaten Elf-Girl's official record sometime late yesterday, but now she had at least a twelve-hour cushion in case she'd miscalculated or missed something. She was glad that it was over. The past couple of days had been dull almost beyond imagining as she'd wandered the areas north and east of End. She didn't go too far east, though, never any further than those abandoned buildings and that far only when she needed to raid the bin for food. The last time she'd done that she'd had the distinct feeling that someone had been watching her, and she hadn't gone back there since.
