Chapter 5: Dazed

King John

I showered and thought about what I should spend the day doing. We didn’t have much going on until later; the welcome dinner.

I smiled to myself as I let the water run over my body. My mate was so perfect. Her voice, her scent, her body. I found myself becoming erect while my mind raced. We didn’t spend nearly enough time together. I decided what to do with my time at that moment.

I finished showering and made my way back into the room to quickly get dressed. I mindlinked all of my men to ask if they had seen my mate. Rico mindlinked in response to let me know she had left with her sister and one of the coven guards.

I then mindlinked Solomon.

“Have Yvonne meet me in the front room downstairs.”

“Sure thing.”

I grabbed my wallet, phone, and keys. As I walked down the hall, I ran into Zoë walking out of Zeus’ room. She glanced over when she heard my footsteps and blushed. Zeus stuck his head out and his eyes went wide.

“Hi, King John.” she said as I passed by. Zeus just nodded. I gave them both a tight smile and continued.

When I made it downstairs, Yvonne was waiting for me at the front door, laughing at whatever Romeo was saying to her.

“Do me a solid?” I smiled as I approached her. She returned the smile.

“And what would that be?”

“I need to locate my mate.”

“Mate?”

“Yes. Bree.” Her name felt delightful to say.

Confusion washed over her face for a bit.

“My niece?”

My eyebrows shot up at that.

I glanced at Romeo, who was just as shocked. She suddenly looked amused before pulling out her phone to dial a number.

“Sol? Yes. Where did you take the girls?” She didn’t take her eyes off of me as she spoke.

“Well, don’t be too long. Have fun.”

She hung up the phone and gave me a polite smile.

“Their security guard took them to the outlet to shop in town. It’s not too far from here.”

She then turned to Romeo and said, “If you’ll excuse me,” as she glided back to her office.

He gave me an annoyed look. I chuckled.

“Let’s go, lover boy.” He rolled his eyes and we left the castle.

GPS helped lead us to the outlet where my mate was. I noticed her walking out of a store, while her sister chatted beside her and her security guard looked bored. I watched her until she walked into another store. I smiled to myself and opened the door to my Escalade. I couldn’t wait any longer to be near her. I’ve waited long enough. As I made it to the storefront, I could see that she and her sister were engaged in a conversation. I could also feel her concern. I stepped inside and made my way over. Her sister looked past her shoulders and stared at me with wide eyes. I was used to that. People always stared, always widened their eyes, always dropped their jaws.

I noticed my mate’s body tense and she turned to face me. I immediately inhaled the scent of her arousal. I smirked. My arms went around her waist in an instant, pulling her into my embrace. She slightly gasped. I bent down to place my face against her neck. Her scent was so lovely. It was a sweet orange and warm vanilla. I couldn’t control myself as a low growl escaped and I began to lightly suck on her neck, exactly where I planned to mark her tonight. I heard a soft moan leave her lips. That made me want her more. Someone cleared their throat behind me, but I couldn’t break away. I felt a hand on my arm and stood up straight to see who was interrupting our moment.

Romeo was rubbing the back of his neck as he glanced around. I noticed the humans watching us with curious looks on their faces. One human girl looked as if she was turned on. I rolled my eyes and turned to my mate, taking her hand in mine.

“Have you found anything you like?”

She nodded, looking up at me with a dazed expression. I smirked again. Her sister spoke up and extended her hand.

“Hi, I’m Cree. Bree’s sister.” I shook her hand firmly and gave her a nod.

“So, Bree …” she trailed off when she noticed that Bree hadn’t taken her eyes off of me. She heavily sighed, rolling her eyes. I shook my head and smiled down at my future Queen.
