Chapter 7: We Like To Party

Bree “The yellow dress.” King John grabbed the dress I picked out to wear to my birthday bash. It was a one-sleeve, which was long, and stopped above my knees. It hugged my curves beautifully when I tried it on, so I knew this was the dress. He handed me the dress and stepped back. I was still a little disappointed that we wouldn’t be walking in together because of the welcome dinner Yvonne had put together. However, he assured me he would be there as soon as they finished. I sighed. He must have felt my disappointment because he lifted me and hugged me close to his chest, planting a soft kiss on my forehead. “Try not to miss me too much.” His deep, husky voice was calming. I didn’t move or say anything. I just enjoyed the comfort. “You better put me down before …” I trailed off as he gave me a short laugh. “Don’t worry, my Queen. I wouldn’t dare … what did you say? Sweat your hair out?” I laughed harder than I intended. “Yes! But there will be plenty of time to sweat my hair out after the party.” I bit my lip as my eyes met my mate’s. He licked his lips and bent down to kiss me. Giving me a love tap on my ass. He went to the closet to change into his clothes. I quickly slipped my dress on and applied my matte lipstick, taking one final look in the mirror. I smiled at my reflection. King John appeared in the mirror behind me. “Stunning.” I blushed for the hundredth time today. “Thank you, King John.” He rolled his eyes and smiled. “John. Call me John.” I nodded and gave him a peck. “You ready?” He extended his hand to me. “Yes.” John grabbed my hand and we left the guest suite. Once we made it downstairs, Sol was waiting at the front door. The party was at the events center, a short drive from the castle. Yvonne had it built to host multiple covens during the conference season. “See you in a few!” I waved. Sol stopped abruptly when John called to him. “Take care of my Queen.” Sol nodded and walked me to the car waiting out front for me. *** The music was loud. When we pulled up to the front, there was a black carpet with velvet rope and photographers. “Oh, Cree.” I sighed to myself. Sol hopped out and came around the car to open my door. As I was getting out, I spotted Cree walking toward me with a huge smile on her face. “You are late, but fashionably so. I’ll let it slide. Now let’s go!” As we walked arm in arm, photographers were snapping photos. I posed for a few by myself because Cree insisted. We resumed our walk down the carpet. “You should see your gift table! Oh my Goddess!” She was happier about this party than I was. I smiled. My sister had been depressed for a long time. It was great to see her genuinely smile. I laughed as she continued to talk about the planning and what she decided she wanted to do with her life. I heard someone yell my name from across the room. Cree looked up and exclaimed, “Oh, s**t!” “What?” I turned back to her. “It’s that Sandyville guy.” She winced and gave me a look. I scoffed and rolled my eyes to the ceiling. Drake from Sandyville. We used to be friends, but he wasn’t ok with being in the “friendzone.” After multiple failed attempts at getting in my pants, he went after one of my best friends and proceeded to turn her against me. He approached me with a smirk on his face. “Bree. Looking good." He gave me the once over, making my skin crawl in disgust. “Who invited you?” Cree had her face twisted up, obviously just as disgusted as I was. “Is this how you usually treat your guests?” She rolled her eyes and stormed in the direction where Sol was chatting with someone. Just as I was about to turn, Drake grabbed my arm. “Woah there! Where are you going?” I yanked my arm and started to walk away again. This time, he gripped my arm much tighter. He either didn’t know his own strength or he wanted to hurt me, but I felt pain shoot up my arm. I yelped. Suddenly, he released my arm. Before I knew what happened, Sol had knocked him out. The people around us were laughing, some had their phones out recording, and some just stood there with shock on their faces. Cree rushed over to me. “Goddess. Are you alright?” I nodded, shock on my own face. Sol and a couple of the other guards, Brooklyn and Perry, lifted Drake and carried him out. My phone was vibrating against my hand. I looked down to see Yvonne’s picture on the screen. As soon as I answered, I heard John’s voice. “Are you ok?!” He almost shouted through the phone. “Yes.” I didn’t want to worry him, so I decided not to tell him what happened. “I could feel your fear. Tell me what happened.” I could tell he was trying to be calm. I stepped to the bathroom so that I didn’t have to try and scream the whole story over the music. By the time I finished telling him about my brief encounter with Drake, he was growling. I knew I shouldn’t have said anything. “It’s ok now!” I tried to reassure him. “Sol took care of it. Security carried him out. I’m fine now.” A part of me knew that was a lie. I wanted John. The truth is, I had been terrified. My aunt made me promise not to use my powers unless my life was in danger. At that moment, that didn’t seem to be the case, so I hesitated. He sighed heavily. “Bree, I’ll be there soon. I’m going to text you from my phone so you can reach me directly. We’re almost finished here.” “Ok. See you soon.” I hung up and glanced in the mirror before returning to my party. *** After about an hour, the party was really jumping. John had made it and refused to leave my side. Despite that small incident, I was actually having a blast. John came up behind me while I danced to one of my reggae favorites. The way our bodies moved together made me excited. A low growl escaped his lips as I continued to whine my hips to the music. I could feel his erection. No longer wanting to tease him, I grabbed his hand gently and led him to the back office. I pulled him in for a kiss. His hand made its way up my thigh as I opened my mouth to allow his tongue to take over. I rubbed my hand across his hard d**k before unbuttoning his slacks. As I pulled his pants down, he pulled down my dress, freeing my supple breasts. He took one into his mouth, gently kneading the other. I gasped, feeling my v****a become an ocean. He kissed me all the way down my body and didn’t waste any time putting his head in between my legs. His tongue immediately found my swollen clit. I moaned deeply in satisfaction. A knock on the door interrupted us. “Hey, Bree? It’s time for the birthday song!” Cree was on the other side of the door. I groaned, wishing we had more time. John stood, lust still in his eyes. We dressed and helped each other get fixed up before leaving the office. As soon as we were back in the main room, I could hear Cree on the microphone. When she noticed I was back at my table, she asked that everyone turn to me. She counted to three and they all sang. A cake with sparklers was bought out. I was cheesing like a kid. This birthday felt so special. I looked up at Cree, who was on stage leading the song. I couldn’t ask for a better sister.
